Have you seen the Cafe Bears by R. John Wright? Oh, I love them. Question is...how does he get the arm and leg joints like that? They look so natural!
I can't thank you all enough for your prayers and concern for my son. I was so excited today...with help from his male nurse he was able to walk to the bathroom!
UPDATE
The doctor called yesterday and said that today they will be transferring him to concentrated physical therapy at St. Francis. I am so glad...they had talked about sending him to St. Louis...so far away! I am expecting him to do much better now...
 Oh yeah...doing the happy dance! Rootbeer and cookies all around...
Yesterday they started trying to get him up and he stood by himself!
Well, I got my miracle!
Roger was moved to a room in the rehab hospital. Today he actually spoke...he told his wife that he loved her!!!
Talk about your hugging and crying...we were crazy with glee to hear him speak!
Here is Chad...I still have a few tweaks to make on his pattern but I like him. I saw a bear similiar to him somewhere and thought I really like that big snoz!
He likes the mint garden!
Me too Katy...I want to hear him speak...even that he hurts!
UPDATE:
Today Roger was very tired and just wanted to sleep. We got there right after they gave him his bath and I know that is tiring. His nurse said he spoke for the first time today. He said while he was bathing him he said "I hurt". I know he must hurt something awful but...he spoke! His first words since the accident!
I make belly buttons on my cloth dolls. I stitch a circle on their belly then as I pull it up I stuff a tiny wad of poly fill in. pull up tight then push the needle to the wrong side and bring it up in the center of the belly button. Move the needle just a tiny, tiny over and push back down to the back and knot securly...voila...belly button!
I am so happy Chad is loved! Yes, he is mohair with a soft, white tummy of faux fur. I really like this size bear for hugging...
Yep, buyers remorse...decided they need the money more than the bear! I agree with US bears...don't want a poor little bear living with someone who doesn't love him!
Hope they learned their lesson US bears!
Yes Peter, I want overnight miracles! The doctor keeps telling me that it is going to take a lot of time. He said he will be in therapy at the hospital for about six months!
US Bears, I will ration out the root beer...
Laura, I love your bear...I think she is just right!
CONGRATULATIONS!
US Bears, cookies and root beer does sound good! Guess I could get me some sugar free root beer and I make chocolate chips cookies with no sugar! (diabetic)
With my dolls when I use wire I always bend a loop into the end then wrap them with a little padding and tape it all together from end to end...no puncture for the limbs this way...
I forgot to add...I use one long wire both arms and then one long wire for both legs...
I have done the tutorial and I think it is very good...the only thing I don't like is that it is not printable...I want to print it and take it into my work room!
We just got back from the hospital and they moved Roger to a room in the head injury area...out of ICU!
He is much more alert, smiles at you when you talk to him, he can now move his right leg quite well. He still can't speak, move his right arm or hand, or the right side of his face. The brain surgeon says the brain is healing itself...It is so encouraging to see such improvements when we go see him!
I haven't been able to post this yet...it's hard!
He is still in a coma. He has extensive brain injuries. The doctor was talking about removing part of his brain due to the swelling and internal bleeding but...as of yesterday he said it is no longer necessary because there has been some improvement. He also opened his eyes...he is not alert at all but does open his eyes. He has movement on the left side of his body but not the right. Prayers are coveted in his behalf...His name is Roger
I had posted this under "Bear Hugs"...sorry I put it in the wrong place...
We just got back from the hospital...
UPDATE:
Roger opened his eyes today! He is still moving his left side and has a slight movement in his left side...thank you for all the prayers...God answers prayers! Please continue to pray that he has a full recovery.
The doctor showed us the CT scan of the part of the brain that is damaged. It is the left frontal lobe...
UPDATE
The doctor called this morning and we have to be at the hospital by 6:00am tomorrow...they say they want to remove part of my son's brain because the swelling continues. PLEASE PRAY!
I never store my dolls in plastic...bad combination...wrap them in acid free paper and store in a box or even the new baskets you find everywhere...
I would avoid spraying the dolls with anything...might cause damage to them!
UPDATE...My son had to have emergency surgery to put in an air tube...he still has the ventilator too. He has developed pnumonia in his punctured lung...
I had to take my mom to hosp. today...she is doing OK!
Now, I am getting sick and can not go into my son's room...
BOY, How much can a person take?????
