Dilu

Wanda-  what a great idea!  I would love to do that.  However am  much spending way toooo much-  need tush tape for the little ones, and want to get some charms to put around everyone's necks, and on and on -this is not a cheap hobby is it?

Oh well........

Dilu

Dilu

Oh Jane Oh Jane Oh Jane

I love your little gollywollykins!   (of course I do)  Such cute little noses, so sweet their expressions, and eye lids!  Wow!

I am so impressed! (no I am not easy!)

I am so so so- something- I can't think of the word! ( what?! Dilu at a loss for words?  Did the earth tilt on its axis?)

But Jane, they really really are so sweet.  Is that the three inch mohair?

And they don't look like they get in trouble, or order pizza, or shop the internet.....they look so sweet and nice and like you could take them anywhere!  Even to church!

Good great job.  Ahhhhh.....I hope you sell every single one...

But, they are too cute to have leave home.......

We need to talk

Dilu

Dilu

Oh Jane Jane Jane

I had mine and my mom-in-laws pre-ordered at Amazon months ago.

I usually stop everything to read them-everything!

Well, ok I do bathe and brush my teeth, but other than that.....

I have been worried-if I don't log on I will be hopelessly lost here......hmmm

what to do what to do

dilemma!

Mom-in-lae, by the way, is 86.  And she just loves the kids and all they get up to.  She too has read every single book.

She's really just a slightly plump, slight daffy, slightly wrinkled great big kid herself.

Hmmmm  just like me.

It's a little scarry.

It's said that substantive marraiges occur when you marry your father or your mother.  I watch my guy walk across the driveway and it is as though I were watching my dad- they are so alike.  Sometimes when I am not quite all here I think he is and feel nostalgic and sad, as I miss my dad very much.

He says the same about me....which I must say makes my life so much easier....

He grew up with a mom who always had to be doing, knitting, crocheting, sewing , making.

He thinks that being addicted to bears and gols is NORMAL!!!!!

Wooohoooo.....am I lucky or what?

So yes you have company out here Miss Jane-  I will be reading fast and furiously

under the covers with the flashlight....:lol::lol::lol:

really :D

Quess who......

Dilu

Wow Amanda!  you're speaking Greek to me but

BUT

Oh good GOLLY!!!  Your little guy jumped out at me, spooky fabulous realistic eyes!  The kind of eyes that follow you around a room!

Awesome!

I am so impressed!

Dilu

OK honey, here's the deal-
" All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."

Know who said that?  Edmund Burke.  A very wise Brit.   It was as true then as it is now.

I lived next door to Ted Bundy for a  while, in Salt Lake City.  When the truth about him came out I felt sick.  So many beautiful girls-dead-because of his evil.  I felt guilty believing I should have known, I could have done something.  But I didn't, and couldn't.

I believe, what Mr. Burke was trying to warn us about is this:

Evil doesn't thrive in a vacuum.  We good people, who do not want to falsely accuse anyone of anything, who doubt our intuition, who feel that to say anything is politically incorrect, in a sense set up the perfect environment for that evilness to do its worst.

You can be sure that someone, some good soul, in your town, second guessed himself when he saw or heard something that gave him pause and made him question,  And that poor guy is now trying to figure out how to live with his 'guilt'

I think that is so very sad.  We can't change the facts, I can't do anything about the girls Bundy killed, I was a girl myself-19-20.

In this case evil takes the very tenentes of our Judeo/Christian western culture and has used these tenentes to circumvent our protective devises, ( intuition, gut feelings, speaking out etc) and uses them against us.

There is a certain faction of society that promulgates Political Correctness and this also is being used against our society.

I do know how you feel.  It is a very sick feeling.  30 years later I still feel ill, and still question if there was something I should have, could have seen or done.  When the subject comes up, like today, tears still come.

But

We can "should have" and "could have"  ourselves till we are crazy and nothing will change.

I resolved, because of living next door to my particular monster, to never be complacent, always listen to my intuition, and if the situation occurs again to NOT remain silent.  There are ways to deal with these situations discreetly, so that if we are wrong no harm is done

I also realized that there are clues that come to us that are subconscious but that we ignore them because it "can;t really be"

Everyone liked Bundy, he was friendly, outgoing, pleasant.  For me the unconscious clue was that when I was introduced to him the first time, and he put his hand out to shake I put my hands behind my back.  Rude?  You betcha.  Did I know why?  No.  Because I didn't sit down and analyze why I felt that way.

Since then, when meeting other evil people, I recognize this protective mechanism in me- totaly subconscious, I do not want to touch- I do not want a transference of such negative energy.  I didn't figure it out until I was a psych nurse and dealing with evil on a daily basis.  And when dealing with evil on a daily basis it was very important to protect myself, psychologically, spiritually and psychically.

Everyone has their own unconscious protective devices.  We had them as children and loose them growing up.  You know the old adage, "Dogs and little kids know"

Well they do.  We can get the ability to read those signals back-something I truly support-

I think the morality lesson of the day for all of us is to be alert, be vigilant but to remember we are not responsible for others bad actions, only for our own actions, and that we need, all of us, to pay attention to our protective signals.

Bless you, sweetie, the fact that it bothers you indicates the goodness in your heart.  And where goodnesss abides evil cannot.  Who said that?  I dunno :)

But I will pray for your town-there is such a thing as "group guilt"   and I would hate to see your little hometown succumb to that.

I do believe evil exists.  I do believe that it will not triumph.

Hugs to you, Miss Jane, it will get better.

Diane

Dilu

Regarding Touching

At some of the big quilt shows I have been to, they had boxes of latex gloves, and it was a given you did not touch anything unless you had gloves on.....is there no such understanding amongst the bearing people?

Even hard candies, while usually ok for adults, usually, what about the 3 and under group- in and out, gotta take a look, drooly sticky slobbery yuck!  And many moms just don't seem to care.

I think, if I were ever to show at a show, I would have a box of babywipes- and whip one of those out the min an exuberant littlekin came near, and I would hand it to mom, saying something nicely about "before your little one touches, could you clean the peanutbutter and jelly off his hands please?

Well, I am sure you could do it much more diplomatically than I, but you get the point.

is this something that could be done at bear show?  The gloves and baby wipes?

Dilu

Who has yet to go to her first bear show but can hardly wait!

Dilu

Such interesting ideas, I am glad you posted the subject, Kelly.

I think your idea of a bear card holder is excellant.

I agree with the others- no candy- they may damage someone elses bear with your candy and that would not make you a popular artist.

But, what about something really small for the kiddies?  A lot of the craft supply places have tiny bears, made in China or some such place, that cost next to nothing and you could sell them for a quarter, or fifty cents....then the littlest and crankiest would have a little trinket- and mom would be grateful?

Oriental Trading company, Sunshine Crafts both have something along this line.

Just an idea, when I had my little ones, I was always happy at differant functions when there was something for the kiddikins-

Dilu

Dilu

Well of course you can toot your own horn, my dear ,what a fabulous fun gal you have there!

If the Grateful Dead had seen her, back in the day, they would have wanted her for sure!  She is much better than the plain colored bears we had! ( I am dating myself-  you don't know the G.D.s....oh well)

She is so clear, the colors are pure, and her expression so sweet....

Talk about eye candy,

Congratulations, you deserve to be on the cover

Thank you for sharing this with us, as many of us do not get the GB publications.

Dilu

Dilu

smaller-heart.jpgDSC00516-2-small.jpgI have made two new mini wollykins in one I made the whites of her eyes as stars and in the other hearts- then dressed them accordingly.

Now, I need to know if this is something I should continue to do or just skip it-

Unlike sculpted toes which takes talant, hearts and stars and no big dear either way as far as effort or work, but if they enhance the gollydolly then I will continue, but if not....ok

Thank you for your ideas

Dilu

Dilu

We created haning space in the closet to hang all the mohair-  It was the first time I realized just how much mohair I really do have....SHOCK!  Fortuently I got it hung up before he-who-keeps-track-of-such-things had a chance to do the caluculations in his head.

That was a close one said she who ordered a yard from Edinbourough only because it is 3" long and 40%off......A yard will make a lot of gollygeewilllikins i do believe.

I am positivr i will find something to put in that one cubicle besides the cat who was quiet pleased to be there.

Hugs

Dily

Dilu

Wonderful Kirsten....simply wonderful!

Dilu

Dilu

Oh My goodness......talk about eye candy

Shari-  He is stupendous and I love his name - Terwilliger!  And doesn't he look well travelled, he is marvy and I am so glad you found his ear!

Nina-  great eyes  yum

Amanda  Your Koala really tickled me-  and so much personality in such a ittybitty face!  I love him

Nina- 2 beautiful bears yet so totally different!  The ears on the beaver bear scream to be touched, oh so soft....your little girl is so sweet

Danni- it amazes me how you can put so much personality into a small face like that....so plaintive,

Everyone's creations are wonderful and I love them all.  You guys are so fabulously talented and creative- and the fact that you share is so sweet and open and generous..

Thank you   thank you  thank you  :):):)

Hugs and golly love!

Dilu

Marie, I love the name, and it is easy and whimsicle, and of course I have a song to go with it

It was on the Isle of Capri that I found her
Beneath the shade of the old garbage can
I can still see the flies buzzing 'round her
as she waits for her old garbage man!  bear_grin bear_grin bear_grin

I do not know where all these ditties come from..... bear_ermm does it say something about how my brain works-  if it does keep it a secret.....:D

Kiprie is a wonderful name and I think it also fits your whimsicle personality too.  Plus now that we all have it in our minds, and will be looking for this name at shows and in mags you can't change it! :D:D

Cakewalk reations came along because if it hadn't been for Claude Debussey's piano piece I might never have met and falen in love with Gollys and bears go with gollys and I love both.....ergo....

Plus I actually was in a cakewalk once in 6th grade, and won the cake!  But my momn threw it out because she didn't know who made it and didn't trust that it was made in as clean a kitchen by people who have as anally clean a kitchen as she did.

I think I would probably do the same thing now.....after Microbiology one can become quite paranoid about bacteria and viruses

Also I think she didn't want me to eat chocolate cake because.....

Any way onward and upward!

Dilu

Dilu

Awww Marie- I love him, such a cute little face-I really love the mouth, so precious so innocent and big eyes......

A cat....hmmmmm.....I really think he looks like a bear, but I guess if you added a long tail and made him look exceedingly lazy, then yes, he could be a cat.....

Those of us who have had cats all our lives will recognize this

Cats life:

Eat
potty
sleep

eat

eat

sleep

sleep

run around chasing each other for 5 min

be exhausted and sleep

sleep

sleep

complain that the kibble isn't Fresh Raw  whatever

sleep

sleep

ok......enough on cats.

Your bear looks more awake Than I have seen my 2 Burmese look since yesterday just before treat time and that lasted 1 min.

and sleep

perchance to dream

Dilu

Dilu

I'm with Miss Marie, I love seeing what everyone is doing.  It just plain tickles me pink to see the creativity and imagination and skill and talant- and yet realize that not all bears ( or Gollies) are for saLE.

It would break my heart not to see the work here.  I can hardly wait for the next installment-

My honey watches the FOX NEWS CHANNEL- all bad news all the time.....and I come here and it is fresh air and fun and inspiring and funny!

Bring it on you creative people!!!   bear_grin:lol::lol:  We can take it if you can show it! :D:D:D

Plus for some of us sheltered folks, who have yet to go to their first show- (October hurry up and get here...) it is a boon.

Happily waiting for Shelli, or Shari, or Judy or Danni or Louise or Rita 1 or Rita 2 or Laure or Sue Ann or anyone's new creation.

how about you gals who haven't shown us anything.  You know we are going to be positive and supportive and you know, just because of the goofuses that we are, we are going to go gaga over it, so share!

Gofusydillydally

Dilu

Oh Marie

Is this a challange?  I did do Buttercup, isn't that enough?  :D:D

'though I could never tell why....."

I asked my mom when I was a wee bitty thing....why and she said
it was because Buttercup was a plump little thing and that's what they called plump little things.

Any truth to this or was this one of the "mom lies" along with oh, well," a watched pot never boils?"

Ok, now how about some of Mr. Gillbert's and Mr.Sullivan's compatriots answering the question of the ages....Why was Buttercup called Poor Little Buttercup?

Because she was a plump little soprano?  or some other reason?

Wondering and not knowing the answer....Dilu

Dilu

OK I'll confess- I have a couple of bearing friends here, who saw the work room in all its glory and then they saw the new one- they were convinced I got rid of stuff.

Got rid of stuff?!  ::mad:

Is this like a moral horns-of-dillema debate?  Which child do you let drown if you can only save one?

(I was not fond of my Logic classes....and it showed, only got a B sigh) :(

Could you decide what to get rid of?

If you could only keep so much what would you cut loose?

No, but because of my husbands good planning, and blessing the Sterilite and Rubbermade plastics company for all their different sized boxes with snap on lids, I didn't have to.

Well I did put a few sewing books in the family bookcase.  I'm family....move over Louis Lamoore-in goes Claire Schaffer (a couture specialist

Dilu
Now onward.....

Dilu

Dilu

Shelli, honey, I wish  I wish they were just plaster!:lol::lol:

Our house is concrete and rebar.....which is great from an energy point of view, but heaven help you if you bump your head!!!

The walls are truely harder than the head.....as my hunny would say;
"how is that possible?"

Hmmmmm

It is rather a studio now isn't it....and since I have retired so-to-speak from nursing I can relish in it.

The past 2 days I just sit in there.  I don't want to mess it up  :D

Maybe tomorrow.....

Today is a do nothing and enjoy it day!

Dilu

Shari-  post this well travelled bear when you finish him...we want to see those silly errant ears!

Dilu

Oh my goodness, such a beautiful bride...Kim why on earth did you take it down?  And such an interesting composition, black and white but the flowers in color....did you do that or some professional?  Its truly lovely- silly girl you are gorgeous!

Look at the grooms face, his face says it all!

Dilu

Dilu

Oh Shari!  I know the feeling.  I once made a knitted hat to sew on a bears head because I could never find the ears!  ( this is our little secret.....right?)

I hope you find the ear....maybe a beret sort of cocked off to one side?  Hmm....you'l come up with something.

I am very happy to have such a room....I am humbly grateful, because it is certainly better than I ever expected and better than I deserve.  However ladies, remember the premade yu-put-it-up- shelving and components at places like Lowes aren't terribly expensive, especailly if you take into consideration how much time we spend looking for lost things.....arms.....legs........oh how well  I know.  I have a golly head and don't know where the body is.....

leave it alone, and it'll come home, dragging it's tail behind him?

Dilu

Dilu

Wow Louise!

I am always so touched and impressed and inspired by what I witness in people who could be labeled disabled but are usually the last to use such a term on themselves.  My aunt, back in the day that washing machines were on legs, put her hand up into the machinery.  Well you can imagine what truly awful mess that was.  Because her father was a doctor she was able to have the finest treatments of the day-and by todays standards would have been fine, but because this was 80 years ago her hand ended up being a mess and she was always terribly ashamed of it.

I bring this up by way of showing how one person, Louise, succeeds, and another, my aunt, doesn't

My aunt had an unbelievable voice, she could have been a coloratura.....spelling Winney  help?
But because she was so terribly ashamed of her hand she refused to try anything.  She is a recluse, and doesn't even like family to come over too often.  I always found this to be sad.....because I grew up listening to her singing and would have loved to have recordings.
She closed herself off.  This wonderful warm funny lady closed herself off from the world.

Our Louise, spunky gal that she is, has succeeded and triumphed over the adversity in her life, only to do something so fabulous for other people.  She makes wonderful bears that bring comfort and happiness to others.

Isn't that truly the mark of a well lived life?  To bring happiness and Joy and comfort to others?

Thank you so much for sharing Louise!  You are a true sweetheart!

Gollygeehuggins to you

smaller012.jpgsmaller3.jpgsmaller01.jpgsmaller5.jpgsmaller.jpgsmaller2.jpgsO MY NEW ROOM IS COMPLETED----still a 9x9 triangular shape and small by most of todays standards.....but thanks to Lowes, ( a 4 hour drive to and fro for my honey) I can breathe and to my surprise

I do have carpet.  There is even room for more......now Where is that Visa card?

It might seem like a lot of stuff.....but remember I am 53, have sewn since I was 8, practised couture sewing and seamstressing - so a third is from that part of my life, and a third is from all those years as a quilter and then I took up with the fur crowd and a third is all the stuff needed for teddybear and goodgolly making.  Also because I live  so far away from real stores I try to anticipate future needs.....
ergo there is a lot of stuff....hmmmmmm well I hope live long enough to use it!

I better get busy.....:D:D

Dilu

PS the Cupboards from lowes are fabulous- they are like 25" deep and 4 feet wide....so there is litterly oodles of space to store stuff and not be a complete disaster!

I am very grateful to have this room now.:)

Dilu

smaller10.jpgsmaller7.jpgsmaller6.jpgMy sewing room is about 9 feet long and 9 feet wide in a triangular shape.  A while back we were showing photos of our disreputable, shamefull, unuseable sewing rooms.

I couldn't even breathe in there.....I guess you can see why
