My work space is usually wherever I happen to be in the house - I do a lot of sewing on my bed in front of the TV. I don't have much space for a nice little work area. Most of my bear making things live in my room, except for the sewing machine which steals space in the office. Now that the weather is starting to get nicer I am thinking of starting to work outside on the deck. Theres a nice big table out there itching for me to use!!
Yes try Gerry's! But note they are moving in the next few months and mail order will not run for a little while!
Thanks for sharing! I wish I could have gone, but I have been far too busy with work. Maybe next year!
Awww now that is better. She is so cute! Well done
Edit - ohh i just spotted her on ebay!!! Still sooo cute!!!
Bear making is only a hobby for me at the moment. I have only been making them for about 12 months.
Besides I have a full time job as an organic chemist - that is I work in a laboratory (not a pharmacist if that was what you were thinking). I really love my work, mixing chemicals to make interesting things (well I think they are interesting ). I use my teddy bear making as stress relief. I can come home from work and do some relaxing sewing. Besides at this stage in my bear making life I am only making them as gifts for people, I do not sell them as yet.
But I say good on you if you can live of your creations, they are all beautiful!!!!
Thankyou very much for the tutorial! It makes things so clear!!  Thanks for sharing.
Don't forget to post pictures when your done! I am hoping to do a real fur bear soon. I am going to be taking an online class on Ebearz University. I am too afraid to try one on my own.
I cheated and read the spoilers posted on the net and read a few pages of scanned copies.
Would you like to know who dies?
Just kidding Sophie! I will still buy the book i think.

I cheated to! I just had to know! But i will still enjoy reading the book when I get around to buying it. I love teasing people who are reading the book and don't want the ending spoilt!
Do not worry TT's I won't spoil it for you.
Yes! You have to go on. Such a beautiful face needs a body!
Thanks! Ill have a good look at airmail at Australia post. I am just doing an estimate at the moment just to give my friend an idea about what it will cost. Do you buy boxes from Australia post or do you buy them from somewhere else??
WOW!!!!!!! What beautiful vivid colours! Well done!!!
Hi Everyone. I have just been asked to make a 24" cloth doll dragon. I know its not a bear, but the principle is the same. Im trying to work out the best way to post this to the USA. Since I have never before posted anything overseas I thought I would ask all you Aussie bear artists what you do. I did take a quick look at Australia post, but wasn't sure whats the best way to do it. So what do you use???
Thanks Jodi & teeeej !! Lisa... I know what you mean... but I think I'm done with the major changes. I just wanted to get this one off the ground right away or I'd loose my steam. Now I can have FUN with creating the patterns for it!!
OK... I did add one more page... but in my opinion it's not a major change LOL!!! I'm now an Amazon Associate so you can buy bear making books thru the link on my site! Right now I have Nancy Tillberg's Book: 101 Bears to Make as a featured item.
I just bought that book through amazon! Thought it was about time I bought it, plus Teddy bears with a past. I can't wait unitl they arrive!
Wow! What beautiful colours!
No summer for me . Its been unusually cold here this winter. Its too cold for me to sew, I just cannot bring myself to take my fingers out from under my blanket. I cannot wait till spring!
Hi! Good work on your site! Yay! I can see my bear on there. I just love looking at all the interpretations of the same pattern. Keep up the good work!
I am going to see it soon, and I cannot wait. I am not going the first weekend it is out. Way to many people and noisy with all the kids in the cinema. Scary bits!! Great, I am taking my sister. She will get scared, hehehe.
Ohh wow, they look so soft!!!
I love his blue eyes! He is wonderful!
Here is my latest creation... Hamish. The pattern is by Christine Welsh of Nioka bears. I am still wrangling with pulled toes!! However I finished this little guy (he is 17 cm tall ) and he will soon be jetting of as a very late birthday gift to my friend in Germany.
I machine sew most of the bear, otherwise I would be sewing forever. And I always hand sew the gusset and foot pads. I will hand sew small bears, as I can sit and watch tv or DVDs while sewing.
Thanks everyone for your replies. I also did ask the artist for the bear I was making, and she was happy for me to do it as long as I credit her as the designer of the pattern (which is something I always do when I make bears for other people!)
And I will share my pictures, I love posting on here!! In fact I have just finished a bear designed by Christine of Nioka bears ( ). I will be posting some pics of him soon. He is heading for Germany as a birthday gift for a friend very soon.
Congratulations!!
He is beautiful!!!!!!
I cannot believe that people can still be so ignorant when it comes to guide dogs and such. Good on them for reporting this restaurant, they should have known better.
