bear_cry I'm so sorry about Shelby, Chrissie--I know my Lucy hasn't got very long, and it tears at me bear_cry

But she was lively and greatly loved until the end, which is all a dog really wants.

You gave her a wonderful, long life, and she'll be there waiting for you at the rainbow bridge.

I hope the pain eases for you soon

Eileen

bear_original Welcome back, Krista

I think everybody's a bit 'all over the place', with end of summer, school gearing up, vacations, and visiting relatives.

bear_shocked I'm impressed and amazed that you could make two bears whilst banned to the sofa and recovering from surgery--it would be all I could do to concentrate on reruns of 'Leave it to Beaver'!! bear_wacko

Eileen

bear_sad I'm so sorry, Jane that this happened to you, and to poor precious little Joey

It's possible that your 'buyer' answered one of those spoof emails and thus opened herself to hackers.

In any case, I hope it's all cleared up soon. Tell Joey that being relisted is not his fault. He's just so beautiful that some extremely wicked people picked him out as a sure money-maker.

Eileen

bear_original I love your site, Anne--

The colors are lovely . . . tempting, I wanted to  say, fresh and unusual, but not overwhelming.

I really like the font, too. It's not only easy to read, it's part of the design--very appealing.

Your text is friendly without being gushy--you sound like a real person (I know you're a real person, but you know what I mean).

All in all, your site is a pleasure to cruise through.

And all  the links work! bear_thumb

I'd love to trade banners, if you're willing! Mine is at the top of my webpages.

 What a coincidence! I just ordered a quarter yard of smokey longpile from Sassy's! I figured the cost, including duties, for all sizes, and found that this was the most economical for me.

You're going to love her fabric, Jodi--there's nothing like it.

My smallest mini so far is a mouse, 4" on her extreme tippy toes, and her pattern pieces are tiny.

She sewed up beautifully by machine and by hand, and absolutely refused to fray at the seams.

Turning was surprisingly easy, too.

Eileen

 Great news, Dilu!

Ok, Shelli, I'm trying again, this time just for you, and really concentrating hard . . .OMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Eileen

bear_original Awwwww . . . I think you're going to be flooded with orders for kits!

Eileen

bear_original Goody, goody, goody--Puppies!

I hope  they're half as cute as their Mom. She's got a gorgeous face. bear_wub

Eileen

bear_original Lovely, lovely--I'd have to bring home a muskox and a bear bench. And a puffin.

Eileen

bear_original Sue Ann, your pictures are wonderful--I get delicious shivers just looking at those glaciers!

I'd have to fight everybody else for that bear bench

bear_original I am very lucky--it's still hard to believe! bear_wacko

Thank you all for rejoicing in my great good fortune!

Eileen

bear_original Judi--

Except for this episode (which I haven't yet seen) it's a great show.

Monk is a private detective played by Tony Shaloub. He developed Obsessive Compulsive Disorder after his wife was murdered. He's been off the police force since then, but works closely with the chief, who keeps trying to help him to get reinstated, without success. Monk hasa longsuffering female companion who keeps him in order and helps solve cases.

Wackiness ensues.

bear_cry I can't believe Monk would  tear apart innocent bears . . . I'd rather remember him as the man who saved a little girl's goldfish.

Eileen

bear_original WooHoo, Kassie--Great News, and a well-deserved honor

Eileen

    bear_original

HOORAY FOR BOTH OF YOU!!

  bear_original

It's a big step and a lot of work, but well worth the effort . . . and fun, once it actually works!

Eileen

bear_original Right now we're all sweltering in the heat and humidity bear_cry

Come winter, she's going to be glad of her fur coat . . . I might even ask to borrow it!

Eileen

bear_sad

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

bear_sad

Not Monk. He couldn't. Not an innocent Teddy.

Eileen

bear_original Beautiful pix, Sue Ann--it looks so lovely and cold there!

Eileen

bear_original He's amazing, Chloe--I love the biggies bear_wub

Maybe he could live on the ceiling?

I also love your cows--are those drawer fronts?

Eileen

This one's a keeper--thanks for the laugh!

Eileen

So if anyone has any suggestions on how to introduce these two without bloodshed, please help.

Nina, it's never easy, and I've never read any advice that really seems to work. Some say to strictly control the new dog's access to the house. Some say to stand back and let them work it out.

A one-year-old is still a pup, so it may be that your older dog is just reading him the riot act, which is pretty standard stuff, though sometimes scary-looking.

My 15-year-old Lucy and new -6-year-old Border Collie Bear are still working on it. Neither really dominates, but each gives in on some things and stand firm on others. The current debate is on which of them gets to guard/eat the cat food!

The only thing that I did that seemed to help was to pull them both close to  me, shut them up with a biscuit, and just talk to them quietly for several minutes with one arm around each. I can't remember what I said, exactly, but it hardly matters. I was trying to established myself as the leader who loved them both, but wouldn't take  sides.

Spending one-on-one time with each dog separately also seems to help.

In any case, don't give up. Dogs are always manoeuvering for a higher spot in the pack, and they DO work it out.

Eileen

bear_original Amazing, Judi--what a treat to see him in his Birthday Suit! Looking at Shercon reminded me of Blake's poem. It's one of the 'Songs of Experience', companion to 'The Lamb' in 'Songs of Innocence'. It's supposed to represent a 'fallen' human point of view, but I think it captures the tiger's beauty and mystery and general awesomeness:

TIGER, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies          5
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?

And what shoulder and what art
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?   10
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand and what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? What dread grasp   15
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?

When the stars threw down their spears,
And water'd heaven with their tears,
Did He smile His work to see?
Did He who made the lamb make thee?   20

Tiger, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

Eileen

bear_original Christine, MIka's romping in the fresh air as we speak . . . oops, dust bunnies in her fur . . . oops, tripping over her feet . . . oops, eating out of the dog dish . . . what a feisty little thing she is!

Thank you so much for making her in the first place, and then donating her to a great cause which turned out to be

ME

I know what it's like to work with fur, and she's so tiny--the first mink mini I've ever actually seen and held.

Now I'm inspired to try a mini in mink.

Eileen

bear_original

Welcome back, Tracy!!

I'm so glad to hear that Midge is feeling well enough to be naughty--always a good sign

Ugh. Renovation. It's supposed to be very high on the list of life's little stress factors.

You'll be glad you did a lot at once, one day soon. My house has been renovated so slowly over the years that the stuff we did first needed redoing before the stuff we left for last was even started.
