Hi peeps
the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Center is having it's first fundraiser next weekend................and these very endangered bears sure could do with some help. There are lots of prizes up for grabs - every $5 donated gives you one chance.
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Bornean-S … 8556360766 is the site - if you click on "Info " it'll take you to the donations site.
check out the prizes..........I've made a Sun Bear specially for this one............probably my first and LAST - took forever!

That's got to be one of the best videos ever (and yes, Sue Mansfield's work)......Faith is a funny, furry bundle of energy. And even the most persistant "cluckers" have been silenced....she may be small, but there is certainly NOTHING wrong with little Faith
And don't worry Bobbie.....there are quite a few words that have different meanings on the other side of the pond.........on the bear course, Lynn was telling us that RC is a rather nervous bear, and liable to take a swipe if you get to near her..........but he described her as a "slapper" and looked rather puzzled as I and another Brit dissolved into giggles. We had to explain that to us, the term referred to a lady of - shall we say - loose morals!
Yes - aren't they just enchanting? Was reading more about the pygmy sloths.....they live on just ONE island, in the mangroves - and can swim better than they can move on the ground! But they are terribly endangered - only about 200 of them - scarey stuff.
Had to pass this on (and something for Chloe?)..........http://www.slothrescue.org/gallery/Videos.html..................these little guys are absolutely adorable! Specially love the "Lady & the Tramp" pair.
hugs!
Another Polyanna here Bobbie, but it does seem the most plausible. And taking into account the fact that Lily charged Lynnn - really meaning business - just after Jason's death, when he tried to pick Faith up really reinforces it...........Lily is normally a very gentle bear, but she must have still been rattled after the predator's attack on her cub. Having "met" Lily and Hope last August, i can vouch for her good nature! It's all been terribly sad, and there has been a lot of blaming of Hope..........but we saw how roughly Lily played with Hope last year.
Nature ain't kind - and these things happen............
Good thing is that wee Faith is thriving
Done!
Great news, Bry......really happy for you!
woo hoo! Huge congrats!
yay Paula! Huge congrats
WTG, Kelly.....huge congrats.......you so deserve this
Worrying indeed. Times like this remind us that we are not watching a Disney movie - Nature is NOT kind. And whatever the outcome, and however hard it is, we have to respect Lynn and Sue's decisions - Lynn's research permit does NOT allow him to intervene. All we can do is HOPE that Lily recovers
The fact that the researchers are now so much in the public eye must make it even more difficult for them.
Ariane.....I think we might have to wait for the next issue of Teddys Kreativ
Happy Easter Jane, and to all the TTers............have a lovely holiday - and lots of Easter goodies
Me again! And again, my thanks for the lovely comments about the bears    The Golden George has alaways been THE special award to me..........I can remember seeing the odd one or two, proudly displayed at bear shows, and dreaming of being good enough one day to enter the competition............
As for the show - Hennef was before my time Kelly, tho I never stopped hearing (at Münster) -- "oh, you should have seen the show a few years back". But it's not only the Teddybär Total which has declined in size and visitor numbers - the same thing has happened to the Teddybär Welt, in Wiesbaden. I don't think moving the TT to Frankfurt would be a good idea tho........Teddy politics - the Wiesbaden show is in March, and a second show, a month later in the same area would not go down to well with the Teddybär Welt organisers.
Stuttgart tho, Natascha - now there's a thought! Maybe the Teddys Kreativ peeps would consider an new Autumn show there - remember the All Bears at Wallau? It was a nice show, but again, wrong venue - and edged out of existance............ Guess we have to see how the newTeddybär Total goes next April (OMG - wishing my life away!)
Thanks again for the congrats, all of you - your kind words mean a lot to me
and here's a piccie of Midnight (with the baguette) and Stargazy with their trophies. The littel bearhead ones were introduced a couple of years back, for the nominees -nice!
Forgot to say - another TTer also got a Golden George - hopefully she will post too!
Hi all and many many thanks for the congrats   Sorry I forgot about posting a piccie last night.I'm wallowing in the clutches of a stinking rotten cold - sigh......
yes - the show.........they are ALL getting smaller and smaller. I can remember the Teddybär Welt at Wiesbaden, 7-8 years ago..........so many exhibitors that the tables were crammed together, and so many visitors - same with the Teddybär Total. I do think their decision to move away from Münster was a very bad mistake - OK the new venue is nicer, but it isn't easy to get to without a car. Last year was disastrous - apparently there was a very bad autobahn crash, with dreaful hold-ups............looked as if the show visitors had just given up and gone home. Some of us exhibitors wondered if we could send out for a dart board or some skittles to play with and help pass the time! I think a lot of exhibitors decided there and then to give the show a miss this year - well , we shall see, next year!
Ariane - glad you had a good time (knew you would! )
and Peter - maybe you should venture over next year - start saving?!
big huggies to you all (from a safe distance)
Done, Cat.......he is lovely!
Hope you win
Go for it! It's what makes the whole process exciting!
and have fun......
Well - the show has come and gone.........sadly, much depleted this year, in exhibitor numbers, but there DID seem to be more visitors. NEWS is that the show has been taken over by the Teddys Kreativ magazine, and will move back to Münster next year..........one can only hope that this helps to improve things. It's depressing to see a once HUGE showgoing down hill - but i guess with the world economic struggles, not so many peeps can afford life's little luxuries (like teddies):(
And good news for me - another Golden George! Very happy about that, but at the end of a long show day (10 till 6), and the Gala dinner and awards ceremony, there wasn't much energy left for happy dancing! Will post a piccie this evening - need himself to retrieve it from his very complicated (for the computer useless - ME) filing system.
huggies
Terribly sad.......but no use speculating, until the autopsy results. And we have only had limited experience of cub watching..............who knows if this happens often? Nature isn't always kind.
Poor wee cubbie.........
Do come, Ariane....I'm sure you'd enjoy it - and there will be loads of bears to see, plus a tempting array of bear-making supplies............
Let me know if you want some tickets and I'll pop them in the post for you
hugs
Maria
That's a delight
......... thanks!
