I had a different type of faux fur too...it wasn't polyester and I had no problems but with polyester it feels like it is eating on my hands. Ouch!
What a cute display of teddies...
Thanks Becky. Yes, the fur makes him look even a lot chubbier than he is! It is very fluffy...
Oh my, what a cute little girl!
So sorry Katie...I surely know about limitations. I sat at the dinning room table to cut mine out and had to cut all the pieces apart before cutting them out so I could reach them. This fur was very difficult to work with. Next time I am going to try something a little easier!
I finished my Christmqas bear in time for Christmas...my hands are very sore but he is finished! Let me know of any improvements I should make please...this is bear #3..
What a cutie...
I love them...my favorite is Diesel...so cute!
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww now that's cute!
Oh my, perhaps I should get out my mohair fur and hold it and play with it a bit to see if I react...
I know the mohair I use for rooting babies is bought raw and then washed several times with special soap and then dyed...hummm, could be the dye!
Snowball is one handsome bear!
I usually keep surgical gloves and I am out. I will try that. This fur is beautiful...the backing is really nice and the fur is long and dense. I love it but my hands don't. I was wondering about the mohair though. I do root my babies with mohair but, like I said, if I even prick my finger a tiny bit I have a bad reaction and infection. Don't know if it is the mohair itself or perhaps something on it? Perhaps the chemicals used to clean it? Guess I'll find out. I bought some beautiful mohair for my Ellie I am planning.
 I hear ya...my house is now a beautiful fuzzy white!
I have tried and cannot work with gloves! Yes, the wool thing is bad too. Do you have a problem with mohair? I have pricked my finger with the needle that I root mohair with and got a very bad reaction. Don't know how it would work making a bear out of mohair. I have bought some but have been afraid to try...
You all know I am new here and to making artist bears...WELL, I wish someone had told me what kind of fur to use for beginners. I am on my thrid bear and I bought some beautiful white mink faux fur. It is gorgeous! BUT, it is SO HARD to sew and now I am trying to close seams and it is impossible! PLUS, I now remember why, 30 years ago, I stopped making baby cuddly animals...I AM ALLERGIC TO POLYESTER! Which, of course, is what the stuff is made of I guess! My hands are so sore and bleeding I don't know when I will be able to finish my Christmas bear...hopefully by Christmas!
Oh sweet Bonnie Bear...
So pretty...I want my tree to look like that one!
Oh my she is sweet...wish I could figure out how you make your faces so sweet...
Best of luck with Noel...he's a real beauty...
Here ya go...
Woah, I am cross eyed just reading about this...I love the five toes, and yes, bears have five toes...BUT, I can never seem to fit five toes on the paw pad. I fell in love with the heart shaped pad and think I will try that on my next bear.
After overcasting by hand I sew on the machine with the pad down on the machine. I need to see what I am doing with the leg which is harder for me to get set properly...
Do you have a list of your customers that you could send your new name to? You certainly could advertise the change on Teddy Bear Forums...
I see there is a new chalenge but it looks like it is a little advanced for new bear makers...guess I'll have to wait!
