I need the beard much longer than the bears fur - I was maybe thinking of trying to root long mohair into his face (i'd need black) or artificial hair which I'm going to need to help make an altered wig for the bear.
Ok, So I guess now maybe I sound like a loony
I promise there is method in my madness!
I'd just prefer a more removeable option really incase I don't like the beard.
P.s. I couldn't cut a mustache into his fur I don't think as the pile is very long and I want his potential beard a different colour to his fur....
Has anyone made a bear with a beard or a mustache?
How did it look? How did you do it? and have you got any pictures?
I'm trying to decide whether my new creation could do with a beard or not (I promise there's a logical explanation) but I've no idea how it would look. Maybe there is some way of making a detachable beard?
He's a very traditional looking bear.
I've had word that my little guy has arrived, so here he is -

A very traditional looking British Bear. He's made from South African Mohair/Vicose mix with Glass eyes and has a lovely british ribbon with some keys.
personally mine mostly sit on a shelf and look sweet
They are there to make me smile. Having said that I do have one that I sleep with, it helps me get to sleep although I have no idea why it works.
Like Joanne I have pets for cuddling; 3 Chinchillas (and soon to be 4). They are the softest thing you could ever imagine! Although they don't like to be cuddled much they are far too independant for that!
Kympatti do a nice mouse and lion pair -
I love those little freckles! He's lovely
What a pretty Girl! I see she has found a home already
What a sweet sleepy bear !
He's fabulous! You are one talented lady Wubbiebear! He has so much charm and personality!
I don't think that's a serial number. mine has 1364 on the tag as well....
My bear has left on his long journey to the States. I hope he has a speedy trip!
Sounds like he might be a bit newer than the shop lady thought! I have a Boyd's bear (well, rabbit) on my desk. It was the first 'bear' I ever brought as a collectors bear when I was younger. Looking at her tags, which are attached to her butt and I still have the card swing tag attached to her, the copywrites say 1990-1995. She couldn't be newer than that as I have had her years.
Thank you both ! Very good tips
I also like to have the nap come forward down over the eyes sometimes but it makes the back of them look like they have "bed head":rose:
I know what you mean; but there's an easy solution. Just turn the gusset into two pieces. I usually place the split about where the ears would sit, so the front part has the nap going forward and the back bit has the nap going back. Viola! That's what I do with mine as I like them to have a fringe.
The two books I have that are great for bear clothes are -
"The Well Dressed Bear" by Geraldine Thistlethwaite
"Making and Dressing Traditional Teddy Bears" by Brian and Donna Gibbs.
I also have a couple of Japanese books for clothes.
Your panda is lovely
awww/ I love the caterpilla especially, such a cute face!
Wow! Great job
My bear is done and sitting on the mantel. He is waiting for the postman to bring him his accessories just now.
He's being ever so patient. :photo:
 That great Jane! What a clever lady
Wow! What a sweet little cub!
Thanks Becky. It was the face that caused me all the problems. I have never done a really shaped inset face before and no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get it exactly how I wanted
His new mum loves him to pieces though and I guess that's all that matters
I've been in touch with my partner
Here's my Monkey. I won't put him in the Gallery as he isn't my actual Challenge piece....

I have vowed Never EVER! to try this again....
Still he turned out ok.
Agreed
Don't worry about it Karon. You're a star
