Yuppers!  December.  Ooopsy.  Probably still $8.00 <fingers crossed>.

Deb

Here you go girls!  EXCEPT ... It's DECEMBER you want for Shelli's article.

Good Morning Deb,

Yes, you can order Oct 2005 issue of Teddy Bear Review. The cost would be $8.00 including shipping.

All I need from you is your complete name & address & credit card information, or you can send a check in the mail.

Thank you

Penny ~

You're not alone; private auctions put me off too.  But Shelli is right, you don't have to have a private auction going to get a friend, neighbor, co-workers, whatever ... to bid on your auction and artificially inflate the price.

You'd be surprised how many reputable artists have had problems with eBay, re: shill bidding happening on their auctions, with their knowledge and consent... even encouragement.

Tell me it isn't so!  bear_cry

Deb

I've never done a private auction.  But this is (publicly available) from one of my favorite's ME page in Ebay, so I think I'm okay to share it here.  (I'm counting on you guys to straighten me out if I'm not!)

About Private Auctions
Ugh!!! I tried Ferguson on a Private Auction and was thoroughly disheartened. I was dismayed at how impersonal it was and I realized I would never see the "faces" of the bidders again should I continue with Private Auctions. It took all the heart out of the adoption process for me. My greatest joy is when someone loves one of my bears enough to place a bid. Bringing sunshine into people's lives and putting smiles on their faces is my highest achievement and the anonymity of the Private Auction was more than I could "bear". I also goes against my dedication to be completely open and honest.

Interesting thread!

Deb

Shelli ~

I've not done commissioned work, but I agree with Helena on the small deposit.

Deb

Oh dear ... I thought she meant does the color last forever.  Ooops!  Sorry Kim, ignore link.

Deb

Daphne ~

I could have sworn I typed this once already this am ... probably show up on another topic.  But anyway, I used to use a pair of my mom's that looked similar to this.  That was 30 years ago, so I'm sure today's are much improved (not that they were bad way back when).  I can imagine they would probably slip around the mohair fabric back nicely for cutting out.

I'd give them a try ... especially if there's a money back satisfaction guarantee.

(My interpretation of your note was that you were looking to cut, not trim fur.)

Deb

Ooooo ... I can't wait! (Geez, doesn't take much these days I guess!)  Shantell did you end up getting long or short handle to start?  After a bunch of questions, Donna recommended I order the long handle and see how it goes.

Deb

Ahhhh ... that may help me figure out a few on my own!  Thank you!

Deb

Have you seen on-line or just TV.  I'd like to see what you're talking about.  Send a link if you have one.  <smile>

Thank you!  Whenever you get to it, could you email it to me?

Now for TIMTAMs well they are just the best bickie in the whole entire world.

What's a bickie?  I need to know these things in order to keep up with the topic!

Deb

OH Fran!  She would have been wearing that dress for a nice scarf me thinks. <wink>

Deb

Julia ~

Get some sleep so you don't get sick.  Good luck with your show!

Deb

Quy ~ how come the flower and other smilies are gone?

Deb

Oh puleeez!

I'm old enough, as at least 60% of us probably are, to be your Momma.  My daughter is almost 23.

Deb

Kim,

What a cutie.  When do you graduate from high school?  bear_tongue

Deb

Judi honey ~ Can't ya read?  No one else (who has posted above) has the magazine.  But we're workin' on it!  And we'll look for Oscar, don't you worry.

Deb

Clare ~

If I had four bears ready to go, I'd put them on one after the other.  That way, for at least a month, you're out there, while you get another couple ready to go.  Maybe even wait one week in between.  That's just me.

Deb

Shelli ~ Big congratulations!

Everyone else ~ I emailed Jones Publishing to ask for instruction on ordering single issue.  Stay tuned.

Deb

I'd show off too Fran!

Deb

Hey Kelly ~

We must be nuts to be up this late on a cold rainy New York night!  I just got back from chaperoning a band trip to Norwich.  YUCK!

I've never done a bear show, but as a customer I would not be offended to be asked to put a deposit down to hold a bear ... nor would I be offended if a seller told me she/he could only hold a bear for say an hour (without a deposit).  Then if someone else did stop by right after, at least you could tell them to stop back in 45 minutes (or whatever), and the bear would no longer be on hold.  Put little tag on him that says I'm on hold until ____.  ?

Hey, what do ya want for 1:30 am.

Get some rest!

Deb

I trim pretty close to the fabric in the joint area.  Helps prevent exactly what Pipa described (loosening once fur is matted down).
