Wow Ellen; you've been BUSY!  Very nice!

Deb

Hurray!  Another sub-group to belong to!  I'm 5'3 with Kim and SueAnn .  We don't get nosebleeds , but we can't reach the top cupboard either  :/!

Deb

SueAnn ~ My mouth is hanging open ... I checked that site, and there's just no mistaking one of your bears; it's clearly there on the cheerleader shirt.

Shelli ~ I know, but ... I just wanted to say it.  Ya know?   :/

Anyone ~ Seriously I don't understand what someone is going to do when their auction is over with the picture and description of Terrie's bear, and they don't have anything to send.  They just collect the cash and send nothing?  I'm so dumb today I guess.

Deb

Terrie ~ Thank you for posting this.  I am finding myself being a little naive, but I don't understand why someone would post your bear for sale if they don't have it to sell.  What are they gonna do when the auction is over?

SueAnn ~ Now THAT is horrible.  You make those phone calls!  Grrr!

Watermarking of pictures sounds promising.  Lots of information to digest though!

My immediate thoughts are that I would be very upset to have someone copy my bear and republish in some way.  But do I care if someone has an auction that looks similar to mine, with a different item ... I'm not sure I do.

Disclaimer:  My monitor often looks dark, and I have copied pics here before, pasted into a photo editor and lightened so I could see your bears ... then deleted, of course.  (Actually, never saved.)  Hopefully no one offended.  My apologies if I boo-booed

Deb

Me too (I just emailed her this morning).  Though my family hates it, I like to stuff (very) firm.  My best tool to date is a fondu fork, which works surprisingly well for grabbing & twisting & poking ... but still I think I will try the tool.  Thank you Laura!

Deb

Aww, he's cute.  Good photo too!

Deb

Absolutely ~ email it along!  ;)

P.S.  "Over the Hill?"  What hill?   bear_laugh

Deb

Computer hospital ... hehe.  Glad you're back Millie.

Deb

Daphne ~ Excellent idea!  Thank you!  I've got it bookmarked!

Deb

Adorable bear/doll Fran.  You got the gift!

Deb

I love Andy Rooney.  Dry, dry, dry.

Deb

Maybe you've seen ... but I just received this and laughed!

Gals Over 30 by Andy Rooney from CBS 60 Minutes

This is for all you girls 30 years and over.... and for those who
are turning 30, and for those who are scared of moving into their
30's...AND for guys who are scared of girls over 30!!!!...

Andy Rooney says:
As I grow in age, I value women who are over 30 most of all. Here
are just a few reasons why:

A woman over 30 will never wake you in the middle of the night to
ask, "What are you thinking?" She doesn't care what you think.

If a woman over 30 doesn't want to watch the game, she doesn't sit
around whining about it! She does something she wants to do. And,
it's usually something more interesting.

A woman over 30 knows herself well enough to be assured in who she
is, what she is, what she wants and from whom. Few women past the age
of 30 give a damn what you might think about her or what she's doing.

Women over 30 are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match
with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of
course,if you deserve it, they won't hesitate to shoot you, if they
think they can get away with it.

Older women are generous with praise, often undeserved. They know
what it's like to be unappreciated.

A woman over 30 has the self-assurance to introduce you to her women
friends. A younger woman with a man will often ignore even her best
friend because she doesn't trust the guy with other women. Women over
30 couldn't care less if you're attracted to her friends because she
knows her friends won't betray her.

Women get psychic as they age. You never have to confess your sins
to a woman over 30. They always know.

A woman over 30 looks good wearing bright red lipstick. This is not
true of younger women.

Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over 30 is far sexier
than her younger counterpart.

Older women are forthright and honest. They'll tell you right off if
you are a jerk if you are acting like one! You don't
ever have to wonder where you stand with her.

Yes, we praise women over 30 for a multitude of reasons.
Unfortunately, it's not reciprocal. For every stunning, smart,
well-coiffed hot woman of 30+, there is a bald, paunchy relic in
yellow pants making a fool of himself with some 22-year-old
waitress.

Ladies, I apologize. For all those men who say, "Why buy the cow
when you can get the milk for free". Here's an update for
you. Nowadays 80% of women are against marriage, why? Because women
realize it's not worth buying an entire Pig, just to get a little sausage.

Deb

GO for it.  I thought it worked well.  I had to improvise because I didn't like the way the bear's nose was shaped, and didn't want to embroider 45 times to give it the height it needed!  This was the first time I did it.  Just play around with it.  That stuff I bought is acid free, so I figured should be safe (like for scrapbooking).

Deb

I like it!  Or bears that beckon.  But be sure to read the older post on choosing a business name.  I also like the word bruins; it doesn't get used as often as "bears".

Deb

Hurray for Laura Lynn!   (Hey ... my middle name is Lynn also.)

Deb

Thank you ... just got them done!  Every two weeks.  No other vices ... uh ... except the mohair /bear thing.  No cigs, no dope, no booze, don't go out much, not a clothes horse ... what the heck!   bear_happy  I go to this little place where they all speak (and are) Vietnamese and are absolutely great at their craft.  I'm trying to pick up a few words.  Anyone speak the language?  They speak American also, but I would love to make an effort.

Deb

Hi Tania ~

Welcome to Teddy Talk!  Yes, let's see some pics!

I agree with Amanda.  Teddy making skills evolve.  Fortunately, it seems so do collectors collections!

Deb

Judi ~ Do you have your CO2 yet?  Get on Ebay and find one of those little air compressors if he doesn't go soon!

Deb

Thank you Judi!  I have some Liquitex, Golden, and some DynaFlo acrylics here.  I'll start practicing.  I did try them once on some mohair for practice, but color faded.  However, I did NOT heat set.  I did do in the very fine layers tho.  Heat set every layer?  I tried Shelli's oil paint suggestion and loved it, except that I used my stenciling oils which are already on the very dry side.  They worked great.  I also picked up a Prismacolor marker to try.

Thanks again!

Deb

Judi ~ He's AWESOME!

Deb

nose-2.jpgnose-1.jpgJill ~ I couldn't get these posted in Bears for Sale where you asked the question, bear_ermm so I'll repeat here and add pics.  The piece of foam I used just for this example was approximately 1-1/4" x 1".  I just cut into each side, then folded over, glued sides down, trimmed and shaped, fit onto end of nose with some polyfil behind.  Pinned down, took a couple stitches to anchor, and embroidered over ... just twice for huge looking nose.

Deb

Good!  While he's out grabbing CO2, you can answer my question on colors and airbrushing under Prismacolors 101!  bear_laugh

Deb

I never did make it to Barnes & Noble yesterday, but when I go, in addition to visiting childrens section, I'll check out basic drawing books.  Great idea Eileen.

Now on that work work work ~ it is paramount that you pay particular attention to Mel's backside, as it is probably his best feature, and getting it right will be key.  His face ain't bad either.  Let us know of your progress!  bear_happy
