BLEECH! It is snowing here now.... gosh, can't wait to go to Florida (less than a week)

This got me thinking... i wonder if there is a tutorial somewhere on how to hand dye ribbon.... hm....

Oh, I get mine from craf stores, fabric stores... I HAVE TONS of ribbon, and I mean tons! I have over 100 spools and lots and lots of loose ribbon...

Sometimes Joann Fabrics and ACMoore will have bags of ribbon really cheap (loose ribbon without a spool) and I have found a lot of neat ribbon that way!

Kiwi is very cute!!!  bear_wub Your bears have come such a long way since we first "met"  bear_thumb  bear_thumb

I tried one time to do a bear and before I joint and do the face to wet it with hot water and throw in the dryer for a while and it just came out loose and smelling like a wet dog...

I haven't let water touch my felting since... Maybe I did it wrong but I think the smell alone convinced me never to try it again  bear_laugh  bear_laugh

Can't answer your question but hopefully someone will

Oh Judi, I wasn't aware of any of this.  I am glad you are on the road to recovery

He is gorgeous! I love your bears to bits!  bear_wub  bear_wub

Well, I use river rocks to weight my critters (cheap and easy to get - in the floral dept in most stores!!) I took my basic body shape "fluff ball" and needlefelted the one side and made sort of a "pouch" and then closed the other side by needlefelting and needlefelted around the pebbles... Took a while to get it firm enough but it did work!!!!

Jennifer - since you make your bears attached to pin cushions, you could always weight the pin cushion instead (just a thought)....

I hope you aren't shy about color, Donna, he is a bright little fella!

Introducing Xing Xing which means "star in the sky"  - he is another fella from my Schnoozlebee line :)

Hope you like him Donna!

I know he looks "blue" in the picture but he is actually purple (I can't get the color balance right and not feeling so hot so I give up trying to fix it LOL  bear_wacko )

He was suppose to be a "sweets" theme but I am still working on that part!

kbonsall

I would think that brass fastners would "tarnish" as well and stain the fabric...

I use mini cotter pins and mini washers for minis (although i havent made a mini bear in ages - other than my felted bears but they are string jointed)

kbonsall

yes, Charlotte, that is what I mean  bear_original   I want to try to make a bear with a colorful mohawk (now don't any of you steal my idea!  bear_laugh  bear_laugh )

kbonsall

I  know, I thought the sweets were real too when I first saw the pics! they are making my sweet tooth want to act up!  bear_laugh

kbonsall

FYI... in case there is any confusion... that is  pink JELLYBEAN lol  bear_laugh  bear_laugh

kbonsall

he he he... I can't wait to get this fella!  isn't he cute!?! bear_wub  bear_wub I am such a humungo sweet tooth that he and I will get along just fine!!!

Still plugging along trying to get yours done, hun!  Been so so busy!!!

kbonsall

How do I go about felting "locks" or longer pieces of wool onto a critter without them pulling out? I haven't tried this yet and have no idea how to start!   bear_shocked

kbonsall

I've heard of them.. they are on ebay as well ... for minis, I stick with Sassy fabrics  bear_thumb

kbonsall

AWWW shucks! That is a long time to keep me in suspense!  bear_tongue

kbonsall

SOOOOOO.... whats the scoop, Jodi bear_original Curiosity is eating away at me, whats the name you decided on?

kbonsall

I don't think it is unethical to offer a buy it now... they are WATCHERS not bidders, not bidders, that is a different story... if there were bidders and you ended the auction to sell it offline, THEN I would consider it unethical ...I wouldn't sell it off of ebay though to protect yourself from a scam.... I would also check her id history and see if she is legit bear_original

Seems like you have this situation under control though bear_original

kbonsall

Didn't know you all were sick... Get well, girls

kbonsall

they are purty! I love the little pink glass nose  bear_wub  bear_wub  (gosh, I gotta stop with the pink LOL  bear_whistle  )
