Hi everybody,
My name is Erl, a Moon Bear made by 'EmBears to ride the motorcycle.
Last week, Mom took me for a ride to Americade in Lake George. I was entered into the Stuffed Animal Contest. There were some nice critters there, a real pretty dog, a spider, a bear that was 'rescued' and a dragon. The dragon won 2nd place. I sat on the bike, very patient. Mom talked with the judges about me and that I was named for the 'real' Erl rescued by Animals Asia. When the judges announced the winner, I almost fell off my perch on the back of the bike when they called my name! Mom told everyone there about the Moon Bears.....I was so proud and happy, Mom was too!
Here I am at home with my award:
Oh, I should probably also say that Mom made me as a backpack. I have clips on my back to attach me to the backrest on the bike, then Mom changes the straps so I become her "bear-back-rider" because I carry her wallet, water and things...................We make quite a pair, my Mommy and Me!
Erl (as told to Ellen)
Hi all,
Took my Girl Scouts to Montreal for their end of Girl Scouting trip. They all (3) graduate next week. I made each of them a bear to remember High School By:
This is the girls holding their bear
Lisa is my cheerleader and panda lover
Maddie is my cross-country runner
and Sarah is my Basketball player for a different school

I had a Big Bear hitch a ride on my motorcycle the other day.......
Yes, lambert has been swapped. He now lives with my hug here in Northern New York. He is getting along very well with all the other critters, they have all adopted him and they have quite a lot of fun together. I think St. Regis, the bear I sent north, is having as much fun.............

I have a little critter who would love to help by being in a raffle.....let me know more details when they become available!

made me smile................
I'm in love, I'm in Love with a wonderful bear.................
thanks for the suggestions.....checked out the sites yesterday and they have quite a list! A couple of spots I thought we couldn't stay, but there are B&Bs there...................just need time with hubby to pick out some places to call and make reservations.

David & I have finally put dates on our motorcycle trip to Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. We will be leaving on June 20th, stoping in th Rumford, ME area for the night, then in New Brunswick for the 2nd night, on to Darmouth, NS for a night, then to Sydney for 2 nights. We will then take the ferry to Newfoundland spending nights in Corner Brook, Deer Lake and Gander area. Take the ferry back to Nova Scotia, spend a night in Sydney then in the Moncton, NB area on to Waterville, ME and finally arriving home around July 2.
Is there anyone in any of these areas that might have a suggestion of a motel or Bed & Breakfast we can stay in? Mom & Pop places will do nicely. It will be an expensive, once-in-a-lifetime trip and would like to have recommendations of nice inexpensive places to stay..............
Thanks for any suggestions you may have.......................Ellen
The pictures are the new purse I made for the bike....meet Erl, named for Erl, the largest Moon Bear rescued by Animals Asia. As you can see, he rides the bike the my back with a zipper in the back so he can carry a small bottle of water for me, and my license.

As a fellow rider, your son is my thoughts and prayers......All these good bear vibes are sure to help, I will get other good biker vibes heading his way also........................

Does anyone have a pattern for a cat they would be willing to share? I don't care much for cats, and said I would not make one, but my son's girlfriends Mom is sick and they would like a cat made for her.......................

I used to use wind-up music boxes alot, until I couldn't find the music I wanted anymore. The one time, a woman wanted 2 music boxes so they could switch them out. What I did for her ( and have done with others since) is a I make the bear, and put a velcro pocket in the back for the music box. It means I stuff the bear elsewhere because I sew in the pocket as I make the bear. That way, the box can be removed if the person wants to remove it at any time for whatever reason..............Good luck with it!

I want your attention....NOW!
At some point in the past, a post was up about the new US law that would require anyone making children's items to have the items tested. I just called a CPSC certified Laboratory and got some information that I thought I would share here.
According to this Lab, Trace Laboratory in Hunt Valley, MD., What we, as teddy bear makers, would have to have tested are eyes and noses. According to Stephen, the person I talked to, They need to test the eyes and noses for possible lead contaminants. Textiles themselves are exempt. We would just need to send samples of the eyes/noses and they will test. The cost for this is less than $100.00. They will also do a use and abuse test, to see if the eyes/nose can be pulled off. That test is about $200.00.
I told Stephen that I had my baby-safe line with embroidered eyes and noses, he said they were fine, no test needed. I also told him that the bears I make with the eyes had a label on them stating not recommended for children under age 3....he says that covers me, but to be on the safe side, I will send some of my eyes down and get them tested.
If you use eyes/noses of different colors, each color will need testing.
I have all the information here for the Labs....if you want to contact them, let me know and I will send on the information

I'm sorry, don't give me that look....I didn't mean it, honest.....let's go play................
Very cute!
I was contacted today by a woman who has a Mouton Lamb Coat with no lining, and a Mink stole that she would like to get rid of to someone to make something wonderful out of. If she wanted bears for herself, I would take them, but she is just looking for someone who will put them to good use. Cost is you pay the shipping.....anyone interested, drop me a PM or email and I will give you her information.
