Yeah guys...my motto, it'll still be there to do tomorrow - huh??!!   Let's 'make bears' for today!!!   Hee! Hee!

clare14

Yay Shari's back, but I think she has an injured leg and is resting it.   Look at Louise's latest post;)

clare14

Louise it's soooo nice to hear from you, but you take it easy!!   Missed Ya!!;)

And Shari, we missed you aswell, you take care of yourself too;)

clare14

Hi Catherine,

Have you tried Ezy-Wax from Bearycheap??   I just warm it up a bit under my daylight bulb and rub on my nose then buff it up.   They do clear, black and browns.   I also use clear varnish (usually nail polish) on my noses too.   Having said that I've NEVER been able to get those really wet looking glossy noses like say Andrea Brewer does, they're scrummy - can't wait to hear what everyone else does.   I'm sure SueAnn's bears have waxed noses, come on SueAnn, how do you do it??;)

clare14

Thanks so much for all your suggestions folks:)

I'm going to go with the tacking stitches as the bear is designed to always wear his hat as he has pom poms sewn on his tummy too.

Thanks again x

clare14

I don't get NEARLY enough time to make bears, but have got to be honest if I did do it full-time, I'd get bored and it wouldn't be fun anymore.   I admire you full-timers!!;)

I run a security company with my brother, so I'm at work everyday, that together with my 2 children (school run twice a day to 2 different schools) and housework (which I start when I get home from work and detest, always let me know when you're coming round and I'll have a quick whip round before you arrive!!)

By the time the evening arrives I'm pooped, so only really get to make at the weekend, in between catching up with family and friends and quality time with my family etc etc

It's about time they created some more hours in the day....................

clare14

All my best wishes Jane, hope you're feeling better soon............;)

I have just made an old fashioned clown bear, you know, pointed hat and pom poms, but need ideas on how to attach the hat.

I've made a smaller version of this before and did't actually attach it, but as this bears is for a show, and is likely to get picked up a lot, I don't want to spend half the day chasing the hat around the floor!!:D

Any ideas?

clare14

Hi Jenny,

I'm absolutely in love with, (I hope you know what I'm on about) Pippin from the BBC children's programme 'Come Outside' whom I'm 99% certain is a tebetian terrier??   She looks exactly like yours, can you tell me if you have to have them clipped and if they moult at all??   Sorry everyone, not bear related at all, but I'm so excited i've found domeone who has one, what are they like - do they like children???

clare14

Yes Yes Yes  -  PHOTOS!!!!!

Well done YOU!!!!;)

clare14

I've got to be honest here, maybe I go 'against the grain' but I definitely EYEBALL!!

I always sew the heads of my bear first, then nose, then eyes, then the rest of the bear, the EARS LAST.

Always works out ok with me.................

clare14

Hi Amanda!

I get all my fillings from Peacock Fibres, hang on let me get the site address for you..................

www.peacockfibres.co.uk    BRILLIANT!!!   Your can order plastic pellets, steel shot,  steel balls, fibre, mohair, ultrasuede etc etc, and the postage remains £8.90 or something, for kilos and kilos!!   They also provide an excellent sample pack, I am a new customer with them, and ordered some high density beads a few weeks ago, and asked for the sample pack, brilliant, I know exactly what I want next time, and they are so friendly too.

Hope this helps..........

clare14

My brother (who incidently lives next door!!) just got a Shihtzu (SP?) puppy, oooooh sweet as sugar-candy!!!   She is a rascal!!!   My parents have one too, and when she was a puppy and on it's tummy, looked just like Gizmo from the Gremlins!!   My mum called her dog Sophie, but my brother's is 'Gizmo' - reminds me of yours Daphne - that cheeky face - they get away with ANYTHING!!!!!   If my kids weren't so much trouble I'd HAVE to have one too!!  bear_tongue

clare14

We've just heard here in he UK that we're gonna experience blockades and go slows on the motorways to protest as our petrol prices hit over £1+ per litre as against the prices in the EU etc, and as my family run a heavy goods workshop, and another business, it will hit us as well as everyone else -it's a worry.

Nancy, you're so right!

clare14

I really hope Louise is back with us soon, I miss her:(   Get well soon Louise:)

clare14

Shana I also know how depressing it can be - I once made a miniature mohair bear, (he's on my website, called Tims) and he took me over a week to make.  I put him on Ebay and he sold for £10.50 (approx $20)- and I've never even received feedback from the buyer!!:(:(:(  I was very tempted to give it up for good - what's the point - all that work for that huh!??

I was GUTTED!!!!

I never get very much for my bears, but I am finding that the same people do tend to buy them again and again and that pleases me because they obviously like them!!   I always put 'by Davis-Tedds' in my heading now also, I think that has helped as buyer's know it's you.

Keep your chin up, you're not alone......and we're here for you!!:)

Your avatar bear is an absolute darling!!

clare14

You guys are so kind, I am feeling much better.........

It's now Friday night, I've got a bit on for the weekend but my main concern is getting some bears done!!!:P

Even if I finish one - actually I WILL and I'll post a photo to prove it to you all!!   (had a few problems with my camera last time I tried to download some pics, oooh I hate technology, so bear with me, it's not a cop out honestly!!)

Dilu and Daphne, I cleaned my workroom, what a difference that makes, recommend that to all, I found stuff I forgot I had!!:D

Penny, I hate scary monsters!!!  Eeek!!   It's lovely to hear from you - I've missed you;)

Thank you so much for your responses EVERYONE!!

BIG HUG to each of you;)

clare14

Jane,

I really hope you'll feel better soon, I'll miss you here loads!!   Take good care of yourself:)

All my hugs and best wishes

Hello All!!

I've had my PC out of action for a few weeks, gosh I've missed you all!!

I've had a hectic summer, what with the kids being off school and working more hours than I usually do (I take the kids with me - I must be mad!!!)

Now I desperately need to make some bears for my first show in October and I can't get going at all - I've done some cutting out, sewn some heads (always do my heads first so they can plead with me to finish them!) but can't seem to get any further!!   I've begged hubby to let me have some bear time out this weekend to get some work done, you know summer, stream of barbeques and gatherings in the nice weather - it's been so hard!!   it's so much easier to work when it's cold and raining!!

How do you all motivate yourselves and bring yourselves out of a slump (if you have any!!)??

HELP!!!!

clare14

I just wondered what you miniaturists use for sewn in tags, if anything??  I want to make a couple of 3" bears for my show, and I've seen somewhere, someone using what looks to me like silk ribbon handwritten?   I have tags made for my bigger bears, but they would take over a miniature, I'd love some ideas!!;)

clare14

Let me know in a while guys and I'll delete my posts if you don't want the world looking at your codes!!:)

clare14

Shari,

I've found your code too, oh I'm such a nosey old busy body this afternoon!!:D

["url=

Take the speech marks out after the first bracket and the code is exactly right!!;)

Oh, just noticed you've beat me to it!!

clare14

KIM!!

I had to change the above and put the speech marks in at the front, because the code is EXACTLY right if you take them out!!   I could click on a blue underlined kbonsall and went to your ebay page!!   Hope you don't mind:/   I'm on a roll!!   Tell me if I haven't explained myself very well!!;)
