So...ladies & gents,

What do you do with your bear casualties?  The poor little bruins who for whatever reason just didn't quite make the cut...the learning projects or just plain out and out screw ups?

I so far have either tucked them in the guest room on a shelf out of site for the most part or in a glass front cabinet (the wee ones)...but to be honest I'd like to box them up but feel someone what guilty.

I love her Dilu....I gotta get me a Golly...by golly!!!

This is a wonderful topic...thanks for all the great information....now to try and digest it all.   bear_flower

Thanks everyone....I'm not normally quite this much of a whiner...I'm just a bit weary from it all.  I know I have the absolutely best doctor around so I trust him completely with my vision.

I did receive a very nice email from a bear collector who saw my bear on Ebay and said she was so happy to see a local artist (she's from Oregon) as there are not many around here.  She really likes my bear, etc., etc. and will be keeping her eyes on them in the future.  So it gave me a good ego boost.

So...with the bad always comes the good...okay...well usually!!!

Janet your home is lovely...can I come?  I'll bring the hot toddies, hot chocolate and dozen quilts and we can all sit around listening to the trees make snapping noises from the weight of the snow...laugh, laugh...laugh...and laugh some more.

Now that is an AAAWWWWWWWWWWW factor!!!

I went for an eye appointment this morning and my eye pressure is back to almost where it was before surgery...not good.  I'm having to have another invasive procedure done on the 30th to hopefully reopen my eye.  So...I'm feeling a little blue today.  I had really hoped this would not happen this time around.  My poor doctor could tell I was about ready to cry...he got all sweet on me...said it was just a minor set back...we've been here before...we'll just keep plugging along.

I must be the only nutcase here...I have to admit I can only remember seeing one website without prices (not including you Shelli) and I wasn't put off by not finding prices.   I do have to say that I've been to a couple where the prices were VERY high and I was put off by that...and it was none of you.

shantell

If it's a bear I am truly interested in adopting then I will email the artist and ask about it.  It's a catch 22 thing...some people are discouraged when they see the "real" price of a bear.  I think that some artist like to be able to have the personal contact with someone who may be interested in one of their "cubs".

I've seen those on Ebay Dilu and wondered if they were very good quality.  Let us know how you like yours once you start using it.

Thanks Laura Lynn...I can't find any place on the site that doesn't say you need to do a link swap so I've emailed them.  I'll post back by results...may help someone else too.

In terms of adopting and reselling...I think some people buy and then resell them later when they find an artist or a style that they like better...their tastes change.  There is also life circumstance which leads to people needed to sell for the sole purpose of needing money.  Sh... happens.  However, doing what Susan shared is downright not very nice...and so blatantly doing it...HOW RUDE!!!

And I'll come clean and admit that I have bought and resold a couple reborn dolls...simply because I got them...and later decided I liked another better and couldn't justify having both...or rather 20+.

shantell

Wow...Judi...you're awesome...I had just what you pictured envisioned in my little head.   That must be a first for me...where's the bear with the dunce hat  bear_wacko

shantell

Sad state of affairs isn't it....unfortunately I'm not in a position to do artist shows, have a website yet, etc., so my only venue for selling/advertising whatever is Ebay...sad.   I'm sure I'm not alone.   I was going to sign up on Bearpile but it seems you have to have a website to link back to in order to use their service...unless I completely am missing something.  Even though my last little one didn't meet her reserve I had about 15 watchers (stop it you guys...that's cheating... bear_original

I just keep telling myself that when it's meant to happen...it will!!   bear_original

What wondeful homes you all have...thanks for sharing them with us.  Penny, I think your house looks divine...I love old homes and all their quirks...imagine the stories it could tell!!!

shantell

Ah Shel, I'm so sorry to hear about lil Peanut.  You've had such a rough few months and I truly hope that things for you begin to brighten in your life.  We all love you...

Shelli....what a cutie...I've been wanting a new puppy for about a year now and that picture is not helping my willpower.   Likes to shower with you...that is cute!!  Hope hubby doesn't mind

Sue Ann, your cat is beautiful!!!

shantell

Kim, I actually emailed Mandie...I really think she's just been ill.  I'm not worried...I'm sure she'll pop up here anytime.   bear_thumb

shantell

I have yet hear from Mandie either...I did read that she's not been feeling well so I'm being patient.  I've emailed her so hopefully she'll respond soon. bear_whistle

shantell

Oh Jenny, Clover is adorable...as you know I just love your little bears and now critters...Cute Cute Cute!!!

shantell

I wanting to make a necktie for a little bear I just finished but I can't find a pattern anywhere and I don't want to go buy one.  Anyone know how...I know how to tie one...don't ask me why...but I do.

Thanks!!

shantell

I don't mind housecleaning...can't say that I love it but I love the end  result...my theory is to do a little everyday and then it's not so much like work.

I HATE BEETS!!!!  SEAFOOD!!!  I other than that I'm not picky!!!

shantell

Rude people...those who are rude just because they can be for no apparent reason.

No-it-all's...those people who seem to know everything about anything...they are especially irritating when they obviously have no idea and talk themselves in a circle.  I'm related to one...AUGH

Name droppers...

And that personal space thing...I've actually asked someone to please move back...I was a course glared at the entire time afterwards but at least I didn't have to feel their beer breath down my neck...EWWWWWWWWW!!!

shantell

I understand your frustration...I just finished a wee one today from a pattern I've done several times...complete disaster...her legs are too low...her head is funky from needlesculpting...she ended up with dimples in the back of her head by her neck joint...and they show...so I've tied a big ol' bow around her neck and now she sits in the cabinet with my other little bears wondering what she did wrong.

So...I'm off to a bigger bear...

This too shall pass...or so they say!!!

shantell

Judi....I'm so sorry to hear about your husband heifer...that is so sad.  I just learned that the bull, Rover, in the pasture behind my house passed away.  I had wondered where he was at lately.  I got all teary-eyed and he wasn't even my pet.

As far as the auction...oh brother...I bet Nancy can get this figured out.  I can't imagine she didn't have all her ducks in a row with Ebay BEFORE the whole charity thing started.

Good Luck
