I did make another bear out of a fancy dress....yes, lining the material with muslin or cotton helps tremendously!

I have made bears from clothing before. It is not easy. I do not use joints when I make them, I use my 'baby-safe' patterns without joints. The joints in fabric just don't look good. These pictures are of bears made from my Dad's Bathrobe and golf shirts with a vest made from his hand-made knitted sweaters. Good luck with your project.

what a cutie!!! such a face....
how awesome......what a 'smart' pose......
ooops.....mom's home.....
fortunately, the deer we hit lived...ran off into the woods. Had the estimate done on the car, getting a second one tomorrow.....for a 2005 Dodge Caravan with 105,000 miles, the estimate almost totaled the vehicle! Of course, they want to replace/repair/re-paint the whole front end......... we'll see what the guy says tomorrow!
Thanks for the offer of venison recipes.....tried it, don't care for it....hubby and most everyone in the North Country love venison though.... especially those who hunt which is most people up here...................
I traded one of my smallest and less expensive bears for jars of homemade jelly/jam.....boy was that delicious!!!!!
Well, let's see, it was dark, but we did see the deer. He was just standing there, looking across the road. But, something told me he was going to go.....and he did, unfortunatly into the car. Oh, the road at that point was actually straight for a couple of miles.....
Yes, Edie, I still love living up here, even with the deer. After spending the weekend with nothing but cars and traffic and people, I will stick with the woods.....
Filed the insurance claim, waiting for the repair shop now................
David & I had just spent a nice weekend away. We went to Pennsylvania for our STAR motorcycle club President's meeting. While he went to the meeting, I went to the mall and wandered. On Sunday, we started back home, but had to spend the night in Syracuse, because he had a training for work on Monday. While he was in his training, I hit the mall again. He got out of the training an hour later than planned. On the way home to the North Clountry, we stopped for a nice Red Lobster restaurant dinner. As we were getting closer to home, we had to stop and pick Ti up from the kennel where he spent the weekend. David was driving, I had Ms Garmin in my lap, and started to close my eyes (it was about 7:30 PM) David said something and my eyes flew open to see the deer standing on the side of the road....before anything could be said, off went the deer, right into the front right side of my van, wiping out the headlight and jamming the door. Poor deer rolled over and over and over....then he got up and ran away. I called 911, the first time I have ever had to call them....actually, the very first car accident (with damage) I have been in. We are both fine, and once the cops took the report, we continued on, picked up Ti and made it home without more incident.
Today I need to call the insurance company and a repair shop. A nice weekend, too bad it had to end this way....Anyway, I am home and look forward to going to my local Wal-Mart to buy the things I could not find in the big malls!!!!!!!!
Glad to live where there are lots of deer..................
pandamac!
Well, we ate the shark for dinner yesterday, yummy! Thanks for the herb-butter recipe Cyndee. Have enough left for another meal....hope it will taste as good.

Thanks for the recipes Cyndee.....I was told to soak the fish in milk for 30- 60 minutes before doing anything else with them. The second recipe sounds good.....don't care much for spicy!
to the cold of Northern New York.
My sister and I took my Mom to Florida for her brother's 80th birthday party. I left home on Monday, Jan. 18, by the time I picked up Mom (4 hours away) the weather was starting to warm up. We spent the night at my sister's (5 hours from Mom) and left in the morning to bright sunshine skies and much warmer temps (low 50's). Our trip down from there was all sunshine and warmth. Our week in Florida was bright, sunny, warm, (80s) slight breeze (except the day Fran & I went deepsea fishing which was very rough waters) Our return trip had a little bit of rain, not much to complain about. As I continued the last leg of my journey, after I dropped Mom off, I debated which way to go home. The roads were clear, at least on the interstate, so I decided to take the nicer drive through the high peaks of the Adirondacks!!! OOPS>.......after just a couple of miles on this road to nowhere, the snow started. The normal 3 hour trip took me 4. Got home, eventually, with no big problems, and the snow started for the next day, then the bottom dropped out of the temperatures...... I woke this morning to a minus 20 F............and I have to go to work today BRRRRRRRR I LOVE NEW YORK!
pictures are of the fish that were caught on our deepsea fishing excursion. I caught a snapper and an edible shark, Fran caught a sea bass and someone gave us his Trigger fish............Anyone have a good recipe for Shark???? Can't post the pictures, my hubby messed with my computer and I can't edit my photos................sorry.

Hi all,
thought I would share 2 critters I did as special orders. The first is a Puffin, this went to a 2-year-old. The beak was a small challenge to make! The other is a moose: I am 33 inches from the tip of my feet to the top of my antlers. My arms are super long, 36 inches, ready for hugging. I have purple eyes ontop of my 10 inch nose and my antlers are 22 inches wide. He went to a Mom for her sons birthday, he will be 2 years old next week...................

Hi all, I have just received a request from a girl in Key West, Florida. Her name is Claire and for her upcoming thirteenth birth she has chosen to do a "Claire "Bear's" Mitzvah Project" Has anyone else received this letter? Basically, she wants to collect 100 bears for children who have been hurt. She will donate them to the Key West Police Departmen and to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
If anyone is interested in helping her out, send me a PM or email and I will share more information with you. I think it is a wonderful project for a 13 year old to be doing, and I am more than happy to help her out.....The bears will be on their way to her in tomorrow's mail...........................

beautiful foxes. My sister has one that tramps through her yard almost daily....in the middle of a development on the outskirts of a city, less than 1 mile from a shopping mall and major highway!
Glad your bear was found.....I still havent' heard from Andy, my Moon Bear, that has been missing for almost 2 years.....but, I guess that was my own fault, let him go off his scheduled route........But, on a happier note, Franzi is on the moon bear auction site and is being adopted by someone!!!! She traveled to Australia, New Zealand and England and returned home.................
