Hi Again, I've yet another question and I'm yelling for help. I'm trying to make an elephant for my other aunt (I come from a big family, lol), and so far it's not going so well. I'm making it out of a very short pile mini fabric, and I've tried to do a 2 piece head using a pre-existing pattern of mine which had disastrous results. The trunk stuck out at an odd angle, was impossible to stuff, and the head looked very tiny and flattened. I'm considering doing a 3 piece head, including a gusset that ends in a V shape, as I see on many of the other elephants. Any help I could get as far as tips for designing the head or suggestions, throw 'em at me, I'm all ears! Thanks very much!

Awww, so cute!! I want one !!!

Hi Donna, funny enough we have a Tandy Leather Co. in my city, I'll go and check them out. Thanks for the tip!
Thanks everyone, I'll keep my eyes open for a product like the one you mentioned.
Thanks for all the tips, I'm going to try lining the entire pattern piece and see how that works...wish me luck!
Hello fellow TTers! I've been through the library up above in the real furs section, and though I haven't read all the posts on real fur bear making, they're relatively older posts. I want some fresh opinions, and maybe even tips if you have them. I'm diving in to making real fur bears, as I've had my aunt give me her precious fur coat to turn into a memory bear. Now, it'll be a smallish bear, probably no bigger than 8 inches tall. My question is, should I line just the seams, or the entire bear? The coat is in excellent shape, as my aunt has taken good care of it. It has no rips or holes, and seems to be pretty sturdy overall. I've tried lining a different bear I was making out of donated rabbit pelt. I used fabric glue and thin cotton and lined the whole thing...only to get what felt like a piece of stiff carboard that wouldn't bend or turn So I'm asking the real fur bear makers out there to give me their opinions, and maybe some tips to go along with them. Thanks in advance!!
Bear hugs,
Shannon
Indeed, Happy Turkey Day to those celebrating it! I've already had my turkey, celebrated back in October
Oh, she's absolutely gorgeous!! Grrr @ Christmas for being so darned expensive, it's impossible for me to buy any of the lovely bears I keep seing on this site till after the holidays
Uhm....paper towel rolls tucked into one another maybe? They're fairly light and you'd be able to pull the nose out to extend it. Hope this helps
Thanks for the kind words ladies! I must say, that silk ribbon embroidery is fair addictive, lol. I've been scouring the city for books on it, only to learn that needle crafts in general are a dying art
Needs to have some life breathed into it I think
Hi everyone, please meet Susan. She's made from vintage rayon, and she stands 6 inches tall (that's to the tips of her ears). She's a commission, my dad had me make her for my mum for Christmas as my mum loves bunnies
Hope you like her!
