It has saved so much time (which is very precious to me as I'm sure is with you!!)  It is wonderful!!

Laura's photo's look exactly as I do too, we must have met in a former life!!  Tee! Hee!

RECOMMEND TO EVERY BEAR MAKER!!!!

Thanks Laura!!

clare14

Hi Eileen,

I'd love to see some of your bears, have you any pictures?

clare14

Hi Hayley!

Thank you so much, I was really excited about them being featured, I've never had anything like that before!!

Thanks for noticing!!

clare14

Louise and Garnet

How wonderful, you are sooooo clever!!   Your site is fab too!!

I sadly haven't got a links page on my site......YET, have asked my web designers AGES ago and must remember to gee them up about it.   As soon as I have this sorted, I will of course add bears by beesley, I'd be honoured!!

Many thanks for adding me!!

clare14

I always listen to the old greats, Louis Armstrong (FAB!), Judy Garland, Bing, Frank..........   Everyone says I was born in totally the wrong era!!

When I make my old looking bears, it sets the mood.  I love it!!

What a wonderful world.................

clare14

Oh Matthea, moving and the shingles:(:(

I've just moved house, can only describe it as hell on earth!!  Hope you have a better time than us!!   And you poor thing having got the shingles too, I so hope you are feeling better soon............:)

Take care and speak to you again when you are at your new abode!

clare14

Hi All!

I know everyone is different, but I was wondering how many bears on average you make a month?  What with having just moved house and the kids getting ready to break up for summer and me being the taxi to all their social occasions, my bear making has had to take a back seat (much to my disappointment!!)   I also work every day so time isn't as free as I would like to be sewing away!!

Sorry if I sound nosey, I am really interested, well and nosey too!!

Oh and those of you lucky ones who do the shows, do you find they sell better at different times of the year??   Are there good shows and bad shows or a steady flow?   And those of you who don't do shows, what do you find works the best for you to sell??

No, I've got to admit, I'm sooooo nosey!!!

Humour me.........!!

clare14

Whoooa Marie!!   I think I slipped into a parallel universe for a couple of days there...........

Thank you so much everyone, your explanations were great Marie and Catherine, I'm sure I'll have more questions as I go along, I hope you don't mind me bugging you again at some point!!

Off I go to try............!!

clare14

Hello Amanda

I mainly sell on eBay as I work and have 2 small children, so don't get the time I would like to do shows.   I have found it hard though to get a fair price for my work, and more often than not lose out, not even covering the cost of my materials. VERY deflating indeed.:(:(

I have tried both ways, starting at 99p and at a higher price.   My higher priced ones would either not sell, or would only get one bid, while the 99p start would always get bids, but like I say more often than not would not reach a high selling price. bear_rolleyes  I've never put a reserve on.

I think 'most'  people on eBay are after a bargain, I know I do!!;)  I have an artist friend who is a lot better known than me, and she can name her price.   She told me off for selling my bears so cheaply once, but I get upset even more if they don't get any bids at all!!!  Tee! Hee!!

It's hard - I'd love to hear other comments regarding this!!

Anyhow, love you avatar bear!!   So sweet!!   Let us know how you get on!!

clare14

Hi Louise

Great topic, it's fun reading about how we all came to be called what we are!!

My story goes like this:

My maiden name is 'Davis' and my married name is 'Tedd', wow how bizarre is that:o
I kept my maiden name and so my surname is Davis-Tedd, so I'm called 'Davis-Tedds'

Very handy!!

Let's hear some more.........

clare14

Hi Kim

Just wanted to say what a beautiful picture, it looks like the a magazine cover - totally perfect!!  Treasure forever!!

Best wishes

clare14

I know you've all probably had this discussion before - but I've just got to ask because I can't get my head round this technique!!:(

Can somebody let me know an idiot's guide or explain slowly:D

I would be really grateful;)

clare14

Kirsten, what great news!!!   I'm so happy for you!!  I had that same 'food thing' but it did pass, and the tired thing too!!!   Please keep us up to date on all the news!!   It's so exciting!!

MANY CONGRATULATIONS!!

clare14

Tee! Hee! Dilu!!!

I've just moved house and bought some lovely furniture from Ikea but haven't had time to put all my stuff away properly yet, so I get where you are coming from BIG STYLE!!!!   My whole dining area looks like that - no worse - much worse!!

If I could just find that extra hour or so in the day, it wouldn't look like that - or would it?   No it would!!!:D

I can't help it!!:/

clare14

Oh Paula and all!!

I wnt to add you all but have no link page................:o(

Any ideas??   Such a technophobe!!   I had my website built by 'others'  shall I ask??

clare14

Hello ALL!!

It has been a roller coaster of a week here in the UK - what with getting the Olympics one day then losing precious lives the next...........scary as both my brothers were on the underground just hours before this happened..........my heart goes out to those families............

Brings you back down to earth with a bump hey...................??

clare14

Hi Rita!

Just wanted to send my very best wishes, I have been away from my PC connection as I've been moving house so am just catching up - so sorry you've had to suffer this - my thoughts are with you.............

Best wishes

clare14

I also use gel pens because they don't bleed, learnt after a very huge disaster when fraychecking a cut out bear using biro once - eeeeek - what a mess!!!!:o

Wow Dilu, I can't believe you sew bears that small on the sewing machine, I wish I could spend a day with you to see how that's done.   Actually I don't get on at all well with my electric sewing machine at all, I guess it's practice makes perfect!!   What machine do you use??   Sorry, I'm sooo nosy!!:P

clare14

Oh Jane I'm boiling too..........we're not used to it here in the UK, it's a bit of a shock to our systems!!

I hope you got all that fluff off, I got so fed up with that one day I bought myself a plastic apron - Fab!!

Welcome Meg, you'll have lots of fun here!!

Take care

clare14

It's nice to know I'm not the only house with bear making chaos!!  Tee! Hee!   Thanks for the picture Laura - I would like 2 of those, one for my sewing and another for my computer - I have hinted to my in house woodworker.....!!!

I have to admit I am very messy and need to be tidying up behind me a bit more!!!

So many thanks for all your advice!!

clare14

Hi Winney!

I've got my first fair in October and I'm going to try that idea!!   I love the idea of the raffia!!

So many thanks!

clare14

Hi Judi

I have been absent for a week or so while my PC went to the doctors - so I've missed all this.   I can't believe that anybody in this wonderful bear making world of ours could do this.

In all my time of creating bears I have always said how lovely people in this little world of ours is, in fact I've never met anyone who isn't.   I've always thought how lucky we all are to share this wonderful gift, and share and be friends - what could be nicer.

Judi, please remember we are all here for you ALWAYS.............

Just one click away.

Take care

clare14

Hello All!

I am moving to a smaller house next week, eeeek, where will I put everything????:o

I am interested in how all of you work - I presently have a workstation in the corner of our dining area, but more often than not that gets blocked up and I spread out onto the dining table and then the computer desk..........   I have collected soooo much bear making 'stuff' and I don't want to have a clear out - I NEED it ALL!!!;)

I need to roll my workstation, dining table and computer desk all into one, I feel a project coming on for hubby (very clever and understanding - thank goodness!!)

Any advice will be very welcome, and pictures of your workstations!!

Best wishes
Clare

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!Haaaaaaaaaaaa!!

Wish I could, I must have England's most miserable postie, could only happen to me!!!   That would sort him out!!!   You know, he called one day when my mother in law was being brave and looking after my kids (no mean feat) (sp?) and he moaned at her "huh!   There's always post to deliver at this house!!"

Isn't that what you are paid for?????:/
Or am I in a parallell universe???

clare14

Hee! Hee!

Yes defo - what Penny said re stuffing.   And I must add, it's all in the pose too, I always make old looking bears with a very wobbly head joint, I'm sure this helps too.
