Me too....
I'll tell you how tall I am but I refuse to reveal my weight...I'm in denial about it anyway

I'm 5'11" and closer to 6' but not quite!!!
What a sweetheart you are dear Daphne...I've bookmarked it so I can go check us out every once in awhile. It's awesome having everyone in one place. Are we not an adorable bear huggable bunch? Of course we are...
Thanks!!!
Shari...I've marked my calendar to remind you of your promise... :D
And...everyone who thought Taylor was my boyfriend...I told him what you all said and he laughed and told me he could do worse...I think that was a compliment...not sure though.
My oldest son and I had a waitress last year tell us that she thought we were a couple too. I took him and my parents to lunch...when I paid the bill Kyle said "thanks Mom"...and the waitress got this really odd look on her face and said "your his mom? Wow you look great"...I should have given her a bigger tip or paid for her to get her glasses re-checked.
I love this post and seeing everyone...it's so nice to have a face with a name. I keep going back and looking at them to get everyone's face in my head instead of your bear faces.
Thanks...this is such a great place to come for a pick me up...ego boost...whatever you want to call it.
It's so great there isn't a party pooper in the mix...which is so unusual.
All I have to say is....EWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!
Ha...I'm hoping to make enough to pay for my habit and perhaps adopt a few little darlings from each of you...some will take longer than others.
HA...20...yeah right...I have every grey hair, wrinkle and stretch mark to prove I'm 40...and I wear them with pride. Now if I could just lose this extra poundage I've put on since I was about 30...I'd be happy.
Thanks you guys...I mean gals. My little avatar bear sold today and I just received this email from the lady who is bought her...
Hi Shantell, I'm the lucky winner of Phoebe!!! She is really adorable and sweet!! I just wanted to let you know I received your invoice for Phoebe and I sent a PAYPAL payment to you. Keep making cute teddy bears. Thank you very much, hope to talk to you soon. Sue
So between Dilu's gentle verbal spanking...and all your kinds words and now this email...well...I guess this where I was meant to be...the path just seemed a bit foggy the last few days.
So I'm off to whack up some more mohair :):)
Speaking of childrens books...not sure if these are really childrens books but I absolutely love Cicely Mary Barker's Flower Fairies...perhaps I'll look for some inspiration there.
I hope others that may have been feeling this way will also take comfort in all these wonderful words of encouragement...meant for not only me but for each one of you when you are feeling..."what's the point."
Love to you all....I mean it.
Shantell
Judi, I'm way old...
Taylor is my baby at 14. I also have a 21 year old son, Kyle and an 18 year old daughter, Erienne. I just tell anyone who ask that I was 12 when I had my first one...
... I was really 19 which might as well have been 12.
Why I'm posting this picture after seeing that beautiful face of Kim is beyond me...glutton for personal punishment I guess.
Ladies this picture was taken just moment ago just for you...and I HATE HAVING MY PHOTO TAKEN...so the lot of you must be something pretty special. Of course I had to hide behind my adorable mop-headed son, Taylor... :)
Love to you...
Do you ever look at other bears...then look at your own and think..."why am I even bothering with this bear stuff..."
Cause that's how I'm feeling lately...like perhaps I was meant to just be a collector and not a creator.
I need some inspiration...maybe a verbal spanking or two...
Hey Daphne...I had to go check out your dogs page on your website...and Tucker's birthday is the same day as my mom's. :)
Cute...cute...and not obsessive at all...you're just a proud mama...but ummmm....where's the puppy's page...Riley isn't it. I can barely remember my own kid's names... :):)

I've been looking through some bear making books and playing around with a couple patterns looking for inspiration. I've noticed that not all artists cut their gusset piece in the same nap direction so now I'm curious about why you would choose one over the other.
Do you change directions depending on what look your wanting with a particular bear...or do you always do it the same.
Jenny...we already know your darling bears have a messed up gusset...15 piece head...I still can't fathom it!!!
Shantell
Thanks...he was kinda fun and frustrating at the same time. I love the whole process of drawing up the pattern, and then making little changes...which is where I am with this little guy. His eyes were fun and not as hard and I thought they would be so I'm ready to try it on a bigger mohair bear...wish me luck
Still trying to figure out how to do all that needlesculpting with only two hands. Anyone got an extra set they could loan me?
So...this little bruin will sit on the shelf in my "hall of higher learning area"... HA HA
Love to you...
Here's a new pattern I'm working on...this was my very first attempt at eyelids (thank you Shelli). He's made out of some mini plush fabrics I bought from Sassy Bear. It wasn't at all what I had expected when I got it but it was fun and reminds me of the Hershey Hugs now that I have him done. He measures approximatley 8 inches tall...6 inches seated. The rest is the usual...
So...say hello to Hugs...and go get yourself some chocolate on me!!!
Shantell
PS...I should mention that he was a practice bear too. I tried some more needlesculpting in his eye area and muzzle...as well as some scissor sculpting around his nose and mouth.
I love your new site...it's very nice!!!
Rita...I have no advice to offer....just a big hug...and know that you will get through this and come out better on the other end.
Love to you...
Shantell
Ice Cream...
I don't particularly care for sports...except to watch my kids...and I definitely have no desire to participate because I stink at it...always have.
So...this one is NOT me.
15 pieces...I'm blurry eye with three...
He's lovely...I love his little vest, sweet little expression...I'm pretty sure he wants to come live in Scio...
Count me in count me in...I wanna play. I can fit a bear or a dozen into my schedule...

I happen to be with Daphne on the pattern idea...I'd rather make my own....because then it would be MY bear going to someone...and to be honest if I'm going to have another artists bear I'd like it to be THEIRS. Sounds silly but true. I'd also rather pick my own type of mohair...it can come from Intercal or wherever but I think some people like different kinds to work with better than others. If we all stayed in the same price range that shouldn't be a problem.
Oh no...maybe I'm really a crossbreed mutt...Collie and Chihuahua...I shudder to think.
Shantell
Fran,
You're little bear is darling and I wouldn't add anything more to her until you have her all put together and see if her overall look needs something more. You might want to highlight around her paw pads etc. I really like her eye lashes...very sweet look.
Good Job...
Shantell
I'm never going to live down my head chopping episode am I?
oh brother...maybe they should send that to all the people who placed bids...
I could be persuaded to participate...but it'll have to be later rather than sooner. I'm suppose to be making a quilt for my friend's Mom and some others for an art display and well...I'm not too inspired to work on any of them right now...got my head in fur instead.
