Did someone got in touch recently with Rita from Woodland teddies?
I wanted to send her an order, so I emailed her a few days ago but still no answer. Is she still running her business?
Many thanks,
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
Poor Lily and cub, it is snowing a lot. I can see that the entry the den is now covered with snow and there is also some snow on Lily's back.
I hope they will manage to stay warm enough...
I turned the sound very high to check on the baby and I could ear him/her. Impossible to let the sound on because the buzz is horrible.
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
It looks like she had a second cub, because after a long labor, I heard crying again. Now it looks like she wants to have a rest. I suppose no more cubs, but I am not a specialist...
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
I was there when the first was born and still watching...
I heard the first baby crying and it is like a human!
I think a saw the baby's head a moment ago.
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
Hi!
I suggest you have a look at these patterns :
http://www.bearycheap.com/free%20patterns/patterns.html
http://teddiesbylauralynn.com/free-patt … terns.html
You can adapt a pattern the size of your choice increasing the size of each part of the pattern. you can use cothes fabrics instead of mohair. If these clothes have a lot of elasticity, you can line them with heat set vieseline.
You can also replace traditional joints with very thick thread and buttons.
I am sure you can get more patterns and tips if you rumage into our library or use the search menu using key words like "pattern" or "thread jointed".
Good luck!
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
Lily is busy chewing branches etc to make her bedding more comfy. I just had a look a few minutes ago... while having a cup of tea.
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
She was out of her den when I visited her. But she is now back and I still cannot figure out what she is doing. I think she is re-doing her dbedding. Yes, she is moving things together with her paws and her mouth.
She is strugling with something the shape of a lace. she is moving so close to the video camera!
Beary hugs,
Sophie.

I thought he was a real antique bear too!!!!
He looks awesome and really has the look of good old bears.
Now you must show us Darren's other bears.
 Or we will be very disappointed to have to stop just after aperitive!!!!
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
Thanks to all of you for your advices and explaining your choices.
I have to confess I never tried darts (except for these sitting bears with no jointed limbs), as I have always felt shy about it.
The fact is I will have to make more than three pieces for the head as the "scalp of the bear" needs to be in another fabric.
So I think I will try two possibilities :
- First, I will cut my pieces without altering shapes and see where darts would be helpful.
- Second I will take profit of having to cut more pieces to alter shapes and add more roundness and see if it gives interesting result.
For these experiments, I will not use furs so it will help me see what I do.
I will get back to you to give you the results and conclusions.
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
I have been checking on her for a few days and each time I could only see the top of her back, so not interesting at all and she was always sleeping.
But tonight, as soon as I began to broadcast her she was fixing the videocamera! Finaly, I managed to see her face!
I look forward when she will have her babies, as she will be much more active with babies to look after. My concern is that I will have to avoid spending too much time watching her ! When she sleeps, it takes me only one minute to visit her.
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
She IS awake right now! I saw her face facing the camera for a few seconds...
I think she is bored and trying to sleep again.
She just hid her muzle under her "arm", trying the find the best posture, I suppose. But for a change, she is not showing her back!!!!
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
A friend of mine sent me a diaporama about hibernating bears.
I want to share it with you as really it is great.
I managed to find the website where she got the photos from:
http://www.northernmainephotos.com/
Search in the gallery Paul Cyr photos and the ones concerning teddy bears...
Enjoy!
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
Ah, Jodi, I feel so happy to see again some of your bears showing up on TT!!!!
I missed them sooooooo much!
I love your bears' joyful face and hope you will keep making them...
Thanks for sharing these adorable little ones!
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
Here I come with questions concerning heads made with more than the usual three parts.
I already tried once centre seamed one (which makes 4 parts) and also inserted muzzle. So I already know about these even if I have not fully explored possibilities.
I am not after open-mouth bears, at least not yet.
Have some of you experimented with more pieces, to really have more control on its shape?
And if so, what kind of alterations did you find interesting to make? What kind of results did you obtain?
Hopefully your experience on it might give me some start point to experiment for my special pattern...
Many thanks,
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
I want to thank you all too for your explainations : it might be very helpful for me to design my new bear pattern.
I want to make rounder heads too, as so far all my bears have a triangular shaped head.
I have never explored darts, so times comes to do it.
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
She is soooooooo pretty! I really love her a lot!

There is absolutely no marking at all in the back of the board : it is fully painted in black with nothing to let us think there used to be anything more.
Comparing the paintings, the one on the nl market place is slightly different : different background and different bear. different ribbon around the neck of the bear too.
Here are the photos from that nl market place :
On the front we clearly see the different layers of painting composing the picture.
It clearly is a bit old, but difficult to age it... Tears are mostly on the frame itself; the "picture" is in very good condition.
So its origin is quite mysterious.
All I know is that this painted bear is gorgeous.
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
I think i might need new glasses cos I see lots and lots of pandas. There must be something wrong...
Or there are really so many pandas...
Great photo!
Thanks for sharing!
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
For Christmas, I got a fantastic gift from Malko's oldest sister & her hubby.
Look!
They found it in an antique's or garage sale and I love it to bits.
We already have an idea about where to hang it.
It looks like it was handpainted. I had a search on google to try to find out some information about it but the only place where I found it is a marketplace for antiques : a website in Netherlands.
Never mind, it is sooooo beautiful!
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
What a beautiful house you have! You must be so happy you are now installed in such a pleasant place.
Thank you very much for the visit!
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
Oh, it looks like you could not find a better Christmas gift for yourself than gorgeous new bears!
I love these photos of them playing in the snow.
Here the very little snow we had is already melting and I bet it will be fully disappeared for Christmas.
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
