Shelli,
Who is that handsome tanned dark-faced bear on your table?
I checked your website to see if I could find him--my first visit to your new one. Wowza, girl. You make those bears say it all. I love the way all the different head tilts give a really 'live' impression of the whole gang.
But no tall dark stranger . . .
Eileen
WOW
SueAnn
I love the idea of the cubes--lots of display and the height is most appealing.
What are they made of?
Eileen
Wonderful advice and pictures!! Thanks, all :D
I'm attending my first show in August, intending to learn all I can. Now I know what to look for !
Eileen
Great toes and instructions, ladies. Thanks.
I've got some paws to attend to . . .
Eileen
Jennifer is giving a class in Toronto in August. I wish I could take it, but it was either the class or a big order of mohair from Intercal! I picked the mohair, and I love it, but if only . . . at least I'll get to the show--my first.
Eileen
Jane, I'm so sorry. What a shock.
I think the best any of us can do is keep spreading the good, and the bad guys will never win. There have always been villains, and always will be. You never know for sure how to spot them.
These are very difficult times. I walked all around Ground Zero when we visited New York 2 years ago. It was hard to believe that all that was gone, or to understand why it happened.
Still, I've been hearing since I was a child that the Middle East was a powder keg, and that if we didn't do something we were in for big trouble. I think we're now doing something important over there, and doing it well.
I just keep praying for our troops and our leaders
Eileen
Beautiful Bear and most cover-worthy! Congratulations!
Dang, I wish we got it here!
Eileen
Marie, I love the pink nose! :D
It's the "correct" color too. Little cub noses are usually pink. They darken later.
Eileen
Huzza, Johnna!
I'm so glad you'll be carrying that yummy mohair. I can't wait to see the colors . . . and there go all my promises to cut back on the spending.
I've also got to say that SueAnn's bears are the best mohair-marketing device you could ever want!
Eileen
Kirsten :D
That is the best news possible. Way to go, girl. ;)
Everybody's right--the nausea and fatigue will pass. Just give in and rest. And PUT YOUR FEET UP. Pregnancy is especially hard on the kidneys, and elevating your feet really helps.
Fashions in preggily correct behavior come and go--either we're supposed to exercise until we drop, or we're supposed to be as still and serene as Buddhas, etc. etc. Do what you feel works for you--so long as Nursie Dilu says it's ok.
All of us aunts are really going to enjoy waiting and watching with you---our own little cub :D
Eileen
Thanks, SueAnn!
I'm very glad to know. I guess it just takes some imagination! But if it's good enough for Steiff, it's good enough for me. Traditional mooing bear!
I downloaded some audio files of bear sounds. The actual real growl would be a bit much for most folks. Scary enough to frizzle your eyebrows. The cubs make a sort of squeaky, snuffly noise which is probably a bit too piggy for most folks. I was thinking of trying some of those recordable electronic inserts for a kitty I'm making. I don't think it's going to work for the bears!
Eileen
Has anybody found a source for really good growlers?
I ordered a few from DiscoJoints&Teddies, but the things sound like cows!
I've got a few more on order from Edinburg, can't find them on Intercal, but I'd really like to find some that sounded like bears!
Eileen
Soooo . . . temperate in the winter is a nice way of saying hellishly hot in the summer? :/
My favorite card from SnarkySis had a picture on the front of the Grim Reaper contemplating a blazing, multi-candled birday cake. On the inside, "You can run but you can't hide".
My neighbor couldn't understand why I thought it was so funny!:D
AArgh. Got to get back to work organizing, or I'll never get back to my bears. I'm waiting for two students to send me back their 'corrected' essays, and the forums are just too tempting . . .
Eileen
Hang in Rita Girl :D
It takes a while to even start feeling better, but if you're being a good girl (listening to Dilu) you'll definitely get there faster!!
Eileen
What a coincidence, Sue Ann! My little sister lives on LaDonna--with a gazillion animals and the little granddaughter she's raising.
As it happens, I just got a birthday card from her. She's always early with these things, I'm always late. On the front of the card, two little sisters sitting on a curb: "You were always so cute and sweet" and on the inside "When someone was looking". She must look for these big sister/little sister cards all year, but she certainly finds great ones!
My youngest sister is moving next year to McAllen, Texas. Ever heard of it?
Eileen
Shelli, at 100 degrees I'd spontaneously combust!!
It's 90 degrees and climbing here in the Great White North. I have a sister in Tempe Arizona who loves the heat! II think she must have been adopted.
We have lovely old bay windows, but only the side sashes open, and they're too small for any known air conditioner.
I just checked the Edinburgh forum, and it's still down. As soon as it's back, I'll take the liberty of sending a link for Judi's double-jointed neck pix.
Eileen
Judi, I think they're under "Goiter" on the Edinburgh forum.
And before you get away to Disney Land for a GGGRrreat time, hugs and kisses for the knittie patterns. I just got them today. They're wonderful. A one-piece head, even. I love them, blither, blither.
You are the nicest and sweetest, Judi. Thank you so much!:D
Eileen
Thanks, Louise :D
Actually, I'm an American, but I've been here for 27 years. Must be the water . . .?
Eileen
Wonderful Bears!! I'm bursting with inspiration . . . and can't wait to see that Polar Bear, Louise!
Excuses, excuses . . . :(
Marie, I've got 2 more bears almost ready for Primetime, but I was chased out of my workspace a few weeks ago by a flood of sewage--the old clay drains under the basement floor collapsed. I had to drag everything (everything) upstairs and pile my bear stuff into into a corner.
I had to set up my computer for my tutoring (and chatting on bear forums) but after a few frustrating starts, I gave up trying to sew from that pile on the floor. The plumbers are finished, finally, so right now I'm busy getting the basement back to normal and, when I can, reorganizing my workspace.
Meanwhile, the students keep coming . . . whatever happened to summer break?
The plumbers removed an old shower stall, so I've now got room for a table!! No more sewing on top of my keyboard, which is now so full of fluff that the keys are getting a bit stiff! I'm also claiming a few old chests of drawers rejected by my daughters, so I'll have some decent storage.
I am definitely expecting my own camera on July 26 (my b-day) and ought to be ready to charge ahead by then.
I'm suffering serious sewing-deprivation symptoms, but in the meantime I'm reading my new pile of bear books and taking Nancy's online course, The Business of Bears. And hanging out here, which keeps me sane in the meantime . . .
However . . . my rather skeptical hubby, noting how much time I have to spend on the tutoring, actually said (and I quote) "I really think you could make more money selling your bears" Music to the ears, or what??!!
Eileen
Shanti's gorgeous, Marie YOu did a great job on the trimming, too.
Dilu---more potty.
Eileen
Kim, you are a raving beauty!!
One could get lost in your groom's dimples, you know . . .
It just goes to show (stop me if you've heard this before) that even (maybe especially) the young and beautiful are dissatisfied with their looks!
Eileen
These are really wonderful stories! :D
I'm still working on mine, but leaning toward Baird'sBears. It's my name, of course, but I like the way Baird and Bear sound alike.
Besides, I can't tell you how many times I've been addressed as "Mrs. Bear"
I'm also sketching my own logo, as time permits, but of course the family has lots of opinions and suggestions for better ideas . . . :(
Louise, you're amazing, inspiring, wonderful! I've got a student with MS, and I've never met such a determined student. She rests when she has to, but she's giving 200% the rest of the time.
Rita, Luv, how are you feeling? Give us an update!
Eileen
Dilu, Dilu :D
It's wonderful! Of course you don't have too much stuff! How can you have too much stuff? I've only been at if a few months, and I'm catching up fast in the stuff department.
And you've even got a cubby for the cat--what incredible planning. Tell your hubby we're all jealous.
Shari, I'm glad you found a bit of fabric for the ear. A lesson to us all--don't clean up. I'm working in the basement too, and I find that if I need more space, I can always pile the "other" stored stuff a little higher.
