Help I need to find a small fedora hat for a bear that I am making.  I make a teddy for our local Hospice Gala every year now for the past 6 years, and this year they are hosting a murder mystery dinner and evening has a mafia theme to it, I'd like to do a bear in a fedora, and a pinstripe vest, the vest I can make.....the hat I'm not so sure.  I haven't made the bear yet I want to find the hat first......I'm thinking anything from an 8" to a 14" bear.

I checked eBay yesterday but found nothing.

Can anyone help???????????????

Thanks in advance,

Did you try searching E-bay for Salesman Sample Hat?  I did and here's what I came up with:

http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dl … sample+hat

They can get kind of pricey so here's an alternative.  It's a straw doll Fedora hat.  You probably could mold a felt fedora using it as your base.  I would take some felt and soak it in liquid starch.  Then, wring out as much starch as you can.  Put the straw fedora on a cookie sheet and then take your wet felt and drape it over the "form" smoothing as you go.  Don't worry about the edges as you can trim them after it's dry.  Then, place it in the oven on very low heat (like 225 degrees).  I don't think this would cause the straw hat to catch on fire or anything but don't go out of the house and run errands while it's drying.  I'm not really sure whether this would work or not but I've done it a dozen or more times with cookie molds and felt and it's worked like a gem.

Hope this helps!

Check doll supply sites, pet costumes, I wouldn't be surprised if Build-a-Bear has a costume with a hat like that in it!
Just some ideas. Good luck!
