What a lovely group!

What sort of dye are you using? (I notice that it colors the pile, but not the backing.)

Your colors are fabulous!  I just dyed my first bear pieces and I agree with you Denise it is addictive!  Mine turned out a lovely dark pink shade and I'll post pictures soon.  I would also like to know how you dye the fur and not the backing.  I used table salt in mine to soften the shade as Nancy Tillberg shows in her book.

Lisa,

Koolaid will color the fur and not the backing. I have had a couple of time the backing take a little bit of the color but I think it was the mohair I was using. Normally, only the fur. You have to experiment with samples, but I get olive green with lemon lime koolaid. Once you have reached the color you want rinse and mix up a batch of strawberry koolaid, little bit at a time and soak mohair. If color is not deep enough add a little more strawberry and do it again until you get the color you want.
