Preferably realistic, but open to all suggestions. I've been having a hard time lately, dealing with grief, and I need something really big to hug. I lost my uncle- the one who bought me all the bears! :'( He was my main emotional support, and I'm feeling pretty lost. Time for bear therapy. Who are your favorite snugglers (preferably ones that can be found on eBay)?

By the way: where are all of the smilies?

So sorry to hear about your uncle!   Bear therapy sounds like an excellent idea.   I like the big unjointed teddies for a nice squeeze like this one.

It's Scrunchy bear from our supermarket here,  Shop-Rite.  She is super soft and squishy and her baby is tethered to her so she doesn't get lost.   Very good for hugs and nice and big.  (They reside in the back seat of my car now and often bring smiles to other people's faces, or okay, a weird look or two.)

Oh, and the smiles are right below the quick reply thingy, (url, img, smiles and a dropbox) bear_wub bear_grin bear_tongue

I am sorry to hear about your loss, especially since he was obviously a bear lover too.  :(
When you mention a "big" bear, how big is big for you: 20", 30" or more?   Some people describe 15" bears as big too; although I don't agree with that.
If you are looking for something around 30", there are several Charlie Bears that are very huggable and available on e-bay, but they are not realistic.
Sometimes you can find some very realistic big bears (like the ones made by Brigitte Smith (Pawtrait Bears)) on e-bay, but they are quite expensive.

I think we should ask the opinion of Chris ("BlackmoonBear), the master and expert of huge bears!  bear_thumb

I think about 30" would be the best size, but I'd be okay with something a little bigger. I wouldn't describe my uncle as a bear lover, exactly. He just liked seeing me get excited about them. bear_original

Oooh, those Ditz bears are fantastic! I made the mistake of looking at their website, and now I want one of every animal in the 26-inch size!

Well, I branched out a bit. First I bought this:

Then I bought this:

I already have a 30" Avanti Classic teddy bear, like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Large-Teddy-Bea … 58a77dd0a1

but I've always wished that his arms were longer. Plus, I really like the face on the other one, and his shaggier fur. So Classic Teddy will eventually make his way back onto Ebay. As for the Labrador, I've wanted him since last Christmas, but I couldn't justify spending so much; so when I found him for half the price, I was thrilled!

The Avanti bear arrived today. He's FANTASTIC! Exactly what I was hoping for! The fake leather on his nose...um...melted during shipping, so the color is rubbing off, but that's fixable. He seems a lot fatter and sturdier than the Classic Teddy.
