Hello everyone!
I have an idea that I want your opinion on. I like the Anime bears and I design and made a couple for myself and then I thought that I will like to see a Golly in the same style I made her ( them....I made two! ) and I do like her so much !! I think that the style is perfect for a Golly. I don't know how many of you like or collects Gollies and I will like to know what do you think abut having an Anime style challenge.
Would you please give me your opinion about it?
Thanks and have a wonderful weekend bear_flower
Bear hugs.

Hey Gladys!

What a great idea...!  Count me in!  I think you are right, the style is perferfect of a gollywolly, either boy or girl...

do you have a size range for your challenge and also a deadline?  Please don't say next week....honey I will never be done in time!

Hey you guys- all a golly takes is some black fabric and someything for hair-even yarn!

And we all have some sort of jointing materials at our fingertips and well gollies stuff the same as bears....and

if you don't do their mouth until the very end- they wont yammer at you to get them finished.

Just a word of advice there....

Dilu, that Golly is awesome!

I would participate in something as challenging as this.  Being a non-animal, it would be a real stretch for me!  Let's do it!

Give me some time!  No too-quick turnarounds, please.  I have to reinvent the wheel on this one and am trying to REDUCE stress, after all.

I am game for this challenge.  I think it would be a great way to try something new, especially since I have not completely convinced myself about the anime style.  Maybe this will help.

I'd like to join in too!  Since it's Anime and not "traditional" I guess we can stretch our imaginations a little with materials and what not right?  Hmmmmm... to the bearcave (that's what we call it at my house...kinda like the bat cave, but no cool bat poles to slide down)  bear_grin

WOW! I am so happy to see that you guys want to participate!! About the dead line?? Well give me ideas. I don't want to put stress on nobody, like Shelli said. Bears and craft should relax you and take your mind out of "trouble" bear_happy  Dilu I love your Gollies!  Thank you for being so nice to me  ( always having questions and in need of help, that is ME!) Luann you will like the Anime style on Gollies for sure. On my opinion, it is made for them!! Charlotte I will try to show a picture in here of one of the two I made ( they are in the Anime Style Challenge gallery, just in case it does not work in here, ( something that happens to me almost all the time! ) Lanie I will keep you guys posted and I do want you opinion  about, what do you wan to see, sizes,  true to Anime style or "close". I can see that some of you maybe will like to see felted ones too? I think it could be more fun if we make it, more or less, "any thing goes" but, with some limits...or not? I want it to be fun and stress free for everybody that participate... Open for ideas!!
Thank you soooooooo very much to all of you. I am new at this kind of things and I was a little bit "nervous" about it..Now I feel so much at easy. Thanks ladies bear_flower

Thanks Charlotte!  Too cute!

From the reading I did on the internet re: anime style, stretching the imagination is the right way to look at it....For drawing they make the head bigger, the legs and hips and arms longer and thinner....and the bust line?  Well it would make Barbie blush! a015.gif

We all have an idea on how TeddyArtists do teds....but gollies are not really like teds.....so I would think the field is wiiiiide open....

I am doing my pattern today.....

WOW!!! ( twice WOW!! ) bear_thumb   I love how you guys are exited about it !! ME TOO! Dilu I know, I have an Anime Golly on the Gallery ( an another in here ) but,  I am going to have  different one for ours. You don't know me yet but, I "tend" to get carried away when I like something!! When I made the first one , the one in the gallery, I thought well, she is Anime style....She can be there and then I started thinking that we should have a gallery just for them!!
Charlotte you Golly is a cutty pie!!
Lanie you said 3 month will be good for a dead line. What the rest of you think? One, two, three? I want, like I said, that everybody relax and have fun, even the ones that have never made a Golly of any kind!!
Dilu I like the "inspiration" Anime style smilies you show us  bear_grin  I am a little bit scare of the "chop, chop" part??
Ok I have to go. Thank you guys for wanting to participate!
Have a great Sunday ( or Monday for you guys in Australia )
Big bear hugs for each of you  bear_wub

Oh Renae-the bust line and other things referred to the drawn comic strip type anime characters!  Too funny.....as much trouble as they get into I certainly don't think they need a big bustline to get them in more trouble...

YIKES!!!

These are just two of the gazillion sites on anime that I found......anime is an exaggeration....so by saying gazillion I am keeping in the spirit of things!

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

Lolicon, in the western world, means manga-style sexual artwork involving childlike characters. The term is borrowed from Japan, where it is slang, short for Lolita Complex, that refers to an attraction to any girl beneath the age of consent, or to an individual attracted to such a person. Lolicon images are of girls; see shotacon for the male equivalent.

and here's an interesting little addition to the reading in Wikipedia

Legal status in the United States
The Supreme Court of the United States decided in 2002, and affirmed in 2004, that previous prohibition of simulated child pornography under the Child Pornography Prevention Act of 1996 was unconstitutional.[8] The majority ruling stated that "the CPPA prohibits speech that records no crime and creates no victims by its production. Virtual child pornography is not 'intrinsically related' to the sexual abuse of children."

On 30 April 2003, President George W. Bush signed into law the PROTECT Act of 2003 (also dubbed the Amber Alert Law) which again criminalizes simulated child pornography. [9]In December 2005, Dwight Whorley was convicted under this law [10] for receiving both "…obscene Japanese anime cartoons that graphically depicted prepubescent female children being forced to engage in genital-genital and oral-genital intercourse with adult males." and "…digital photographs of actual children engaging in sexually explicit conduct." [11][12] Neither Whorley's, nor any other conviction under this law has been reviewed by the Supreme Court.

I couldn't bring any of the drawings over for you guys......copy protect...It kind surprised me to read that...until I looked at the pictures from THAT viewpoint....Yikes! Yikes!  What a middle aged woman might see as sweet, simple, cute can so easily be turned into something not so sweet innocent or cute.....although the example they had did make me want to make more clothes for her....

I had googled 'drawing anime childlike figures'....because that is what I pictured a golligirl being....cute, childlike......

Sheesh-look at how much trouble one can get into in just a couple of minutes doing a web search... d015.gif

There truly is a ton of info on anime....
