Thanks Daphne and Hayley for the wonderful introduction to locknuts, setscrews and bolts. I made my first bear using the setscrews/locknut concoction...and I'm quite happy...except for the little tiny allen wrench needed to hold the setscrew...I will be coming up with something a little easier for myself. Good thing all those years of hiding in my dad workshop when my mother was being difficult paid off...I'm quite handy with a tool or two.
My little darling is finished I just need to take her pictures...later this day and will post them.
So between cutting myself with the upholstery thread while I was mauling her head...and giving myself blisters with the allen wrench...all is good in the Apple Dumpling Bear workshop.
Oh, Shantell, I'm glad in the end you were happy with the set screws! Can't wait to see a photo.
When you come up with a new tool for your little allen key let me know!!! Isn't that tiny little thing painful??!! I have an allen bit that goes into my hand drill making it much easier and faster. But when I teach classes they all have to get thru it with that tiny key. If there is a better way than putting 'power drill' on the list of supplies to bring to class I'm all for it!! :D
Hugs,
Daphne
Hi Shantell,
I have the bits that go into the screwdrivers that accept different bits. I think that is the one Daphne is talking about. I use a ratcheting screwdriver and it works like a charm. If you don't have one of those screwdrivers around the house the last one I bought was $5.00 so there is not a big investment for the tools. I sell the bits for $2.00 each if you are interested.
Donna
Yes, I got my bit from Donna!!!
Sorry, Hon, forgot to tell her I got it from you!
