Could have sworn I read a post earlier from someone not being able to get in the Christmas spirit.  Hmm ... hope someone else recalls.  Anyway ... this should help.

The Christmas Shoes

It was almost Christmas time, there I stood in another line
Tryin' to buy that last gift or two, not really in the Christmas mood
Standing right in front of me was a little boy waiting anxiously
Pacing 'round like little boys do
And in his hands he held a pair of shoes

His clothes were worn and old, he was dirty from head to toe
And when it came his time to pay
I couldn't believe what I heard him say

Chorus:
Sir, I want to buy these shoes for my Mama, please
It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size
Could you hurry, sir, Daddy says there's not much time
You see she's been sick for quite a while
And I know these shoes would make her smile
And I want her to look beautiful if Mama meets Jesus tonight

He counted pennies for what seemed like years
Then the cashier said, "Son, there's not enough here"
He searched his pockets frantically
Then he turned and he looked at me
He said Mama made Christmas good at our house
Though most years she just did without
Tell me Sir, what am I going to do,
Somehow I've got to buy her these Christmas shoes

So I laid the money down, I just had to help him out
I'll never forget the look on his face when he said
Mama's gonna look so great

Sir, I want to buy these shoes for my Mama, please
It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size
Could you hurry, sir, Daddy says there's not much time
You see she's been sick for quite a while
And I know these shoes would make her smile
And I want her to look beautiful if Mama meets Jesus tonight

Bridge:
I knew I'd caught a glimpse of heaven's love
As he thanked me and ran out
I knew that God had sent that little boy
To remind me just what Christmas is all about

Repeat Chorus

I know this song, Deb, but haven't heard it in quite some time. Who is this by?

Thanks for the Christmas boost!

Bob Carlisle sang this most recently. He's the guy that did "Butterfly Kisses". I heard this on the radio for the first time about a month ago and cried.  bear_innocent

Last Night "Felicity" an American Girl movie was on. Ya know, the american girl dolls? I'm not into dolls, know nothing about them but this movie.... so sweet, so touching.... it made me cry too! I'm a huge sentimental, emotional sap!   bear_cry  So, did the Movies or the Dolls come first in the American Girl series? Anyway, this movie really makes you want to be a better person, no matter how 'good' you are already!

Great song, Deb! Thanks for posting it for us!

Not to show my age, BUT When I was little I collected the AMerican Girl dolls. There's a doll named Kirsten. I got my first book from my aunt when I was 6. Then there were only 3 girls. I still have Kirsten, Molly, Samantha, and Felicity dolls in a trunk in storage. I really wanted all the accessories, they even made nightgowns for the dolls and for you. On one birthday I woke up and went to get breakfast and in the fridge was a new doll dressed up for her birthday with a fake cake and everything.... Geez... I sound like a dork!!

As my niece currently collects them (she's in her early teens) and we just had an American Girl Show in the city that drew over 500 collectors and their mommies, I'd put you at about 13, Kirsten!  bear_laugh   bear_grin
