Sue Ann that is so neat!  Thanks!

Those beautiful birds remind me of the time last year when I was watching a family of nesting robins with my little ones last summer.... and after the babys had hatched and flown away, I saw that the robins had lined their nest with a bunch of the mohair clippings that I had let fall onto the patio while trimming the fur from my seam allowances!  I think I might have even posted something about it right here on Teddy Talk!  I LOVE watching birds!  GREAT happy thought!

bluebirds are beautiful...I'm with Brenda when she said she'd be wasting time just watching them.  Here's more of my Kiwi ignorance...what's the tree in the background?  does its leaves turn into wonderful autumn colours?  We don't have autumn/fall or spring where I live and it's only green bush not lovely imported trees that change colour and I miss it so much.

Anybody else that wants to post beautiful spring pictures would cheer me right up!!

my beautiful subsititute children, my niece Emily and nephew Ryan..can make me smile on the saddest days...My darling mother and two sisters...always there and the best of friends...my friends who are always there to pick me up, even when I'm sure I am worth forgetting about.... my doggy kids of course, their antics are worth keeping as happy thoughts and remembering time and time again :)
And I can never be too sad to love and appreciate the beauty of a rose...my favourite flower and in my garden everywhere  bear_flower there are a few things that I keep as happy thoughts and if I can't be happy over them or take my mind to a better place I know I am in trouble...those are them...oh and my bears too  bear_grin

MeFay1983.jpgSue Ann, the bluebird pics are beautiful!   bear_flower

Is it okay to reach back through the mists of time to pull out a happy moment?  The photograph above is of me with my daughter when she was just ten weeks old.  It was taken in 1983 (hence the terrible perm and huge sunglasses!) when I was a mere slip of a twenty year old.  It was a beautiful day, so my husband and I hopped into the car and took our bundle of joy to Eastbourne to catch her first view of the sea!

The tree behind the bird box is a cedar elm . . . native to Texas.  It turns a very nice yellow in the fall.  So pleased that you like the bird photos . . . I had a good time taking them.  Sometimes it was a rather long wait until mom or pop showed up, but the time spent was totally rewarding.  Hopefully, I will get some of the babies learning to fly!  HA!

Those birds are just gorgeous, and that birdhouse just has a patina of age and charm.  I'd lose myself in it as well!

Hi Daphne...glad you started this one.  I may just come back and stay at TT with these kind of posts...the kind I remember and enjoyed so much.

Some happy things I like:

Standing in an open doorway when it is raining.
People who snort when they laugh
Fire light
Eccentric people
Clean beaches
Thunderstorms.
Old grave yards
Red m&m's
Accomplished musicians from classic to bluegrass
Lipstick that doesn't bleed into wrinkles.
Sincere friends.
Grandchildren hugs.
My 'loving man'.
And my all time favorite...birds singing.  I have so many CD's and tape of just birds singing...poor little Bootsie goes wild.

Just thinking about all of these things...makes me very happy and very thankful my dear Lord has blessed me so much!!
nanc....

Anybody else that wants to post beautiful spring pictures would cheer me right up!!

Melissa, here is a photo of little daffodils in our flower garden by the side of the house. I think spring might actually be here! (although I won't rule out one or two more snow storms yet as this only the end of April and in this part of the country we often get snow into the beginning of June!) I think this just might be an early spring year - at least I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

P.S. You are  a sweetheart to offer to look for my NZ crackers for me but I can't for the life of me remember what they were called - other than they looked kind of greenish and had seaweed in them! - I'm just going to have to make another trip there one of these years! Every time the beginning of winter rolls around here I get an email from my daughter asking when we are going to NZ again! It was definitely one of my most memorable holidays! Now that is REALLY a "happy thought"!

Sue Anne, brilliant!!!! bear_wub  Thanx for sharing these exciting pix with us! We hardly have any birds left here, so I have nothing to watch anymore.
bear_cry And bluebirds are not known here anyway...

Melissa, I´ll post you some pix  bear_grin because for me spring is the nicest time of the year.
You can really feel life coming back to the world. Especially afer this last long and cold winter I was yearning for the first messengers of spring.
One is a foto I took right after the first leaves of tulips came up. Sometimes you can find a itty bitty tiny leave growing it´s way right through an old leave that was left from last year. I think it is amazing, how much power and will to live these little flowers have! Incredible! They find their way, no matter what. Guess, we humans should do as they do  bear_grin

The flower pictures are wonderful - Edie, I have one lonely daffodil blooming in the back yard.  There are more coming, but this guy was anxious, I guess!
Gaby, your flowers are beautiful!  I loooove "bleeding heart" bushes and I have one at the side of my house that is starting to come back - thank you for reminding me of it.

My happy thought for today is watching my 16 month old daughter walk.
Considering the fact that we were told she wouldn't survive and then she would be deformed, brained damaged and blind, watching this mischievous child laugh talk and play is always a happy thought for me.

Thanks So much Daphnie for starting this thread, it has been a joy to read
I had a pleasant thought today -
I was out weeding my garden and stoped for a rest,
I sat down on my bench seat and all these little birds came chirping around me, it was so pleasant.
It is autumn ( fall ) here and it might have been the last time I would be out in the garden as I hate the cold.
I usually think of winter with dread, but now I can't wait for it to start as I will be able to sit by the fire and make more bears  bear_grin  bear_grin  bear_grin

I wonder if anyone has seen these photos before, I will post them, they are not really a happy thought as such but sure do raise a smile.  The bluebird photos reminded me, tho this guy is a little more clumsy than the little bluebird lol

birdhouse.jpgbluetits.jpgbutterfly.jpgblossom.jpgsun.jpgdaffodil.jpgSarah, what amazing photos of that bear incredible bear_original  I've just been out in the garden to take some spring photos for you all to see.  I too have got blue birds nesting in a little house in my garden, but they look very different to Sue-Ann's amazing blue bird, ours are smaller and have yellow on them too - they are my most favourite birds along with robins (we call them blue tits in europe!).  The two of them are going back and forth into the nest so I am hoping to see some little baby fluffy birds anyday now, I can't get too close without a good zoom lens but I'll post a pic of them both feeding in my garden.

Today we have sunshine and blue sky which lights up the flowers which I took some photos of too.  I also saw the first butterfly of the spring - a lovely little white one.  Just as I went to try and get a photo of it resting on a leaf along came another white butterfly and the two of them danced around me - it was just really magical ... couldn't get a photo of that!  But then I spotted another butterfly which you can see here, I've also got lots of cute little ladybirds in the garden now.  Lovely to see all your photos and and hear your stories.
