pencils are good for shading small bears..it can take a while to get good colour..but it works well and is soft on the fur..good luck!!

Maybe i'll pack the bigger bear stuff in special boxes and can get mum to ship them if i need them..i'll def take my mini supplies right away..so much to do, so little time!

Hi everyone..I've been a bit of a lurker lately, sorry about that. I shall try harder to participate in conversations from now on!!
As you can see from the heading, I will soon be moving to the UK..we have bought our tickets for October 29th. We aren't going to move absolutely everything such as furniture as it will just be a temporary shift for about 2 or 3 years. ( Fiance is from uk and been out here in Aust with me for 11 years...hes been feeling a bit homesick lately, so we decided to move over so he can be nearer his family for a change).
so I'm wanting to take my bear supplies as im really looking forward to participating in a bear show or two..Ive only ever entered competitions here, but id really love to have a table in UK and see how I go..
if you were going to move overseas for a couple of years, what items would you take with you?? Im not sure.. my stash is pretty big. I have recently become more of a mini maker, so i know i can safely leave behind my longer mohairs and wooden joints..but then again i don't know if maybe i should take some bigger bear things incase i get the urge as i do sometimes....but then..I could always buy more in UK.
Are there any bear making clubs/societies etc that anyone knows of in UK?? I will likely be in the north for a little while, but we want to settle a bit closer to London after a couple of months, how close?? i have no idea yet.lol..but i definately will be needing to make some friends ..eekk..its gonna be a bit scarey..but Im really looking forward to it

ahh..thanks sarah..I knew there would be a reason!! Thanks heaps for taking the time to explain it!!
Kerrilyn

Kerrilyn

Kerrilyn
wow!!! i love this one just as much as the nibblets..I bet your client is over the moon!!
Kerrilyn
I haven't seen it yet..congrats to all who are IN!! yay...
On another note can someone tell me why magazines go so far in advance?? its only April, but the June magazine is out...why is it called the June edition..why not the April edition?? Im sure theres a valid reason..I just have no clue what it is!!LOL
Kerrilyn
I can't think of any other ways..ive done the shading, the over sewing and cutting out a hole and adding it in...i don't think its ever going to be easy peasy!! Good luck experimenting!!
Kerrilyn
ive had a few lately too..and peoples pets lol..i just click ignore if i don't know them..if it did turn out to be someone i know, they would just reapply and include a message
Kerrilyn
us bears, soaking is fine if the bear is all synthetic..you just spin dry in the washing machine then put somewhere warm to dry overnight..ive washed loads of toys this way and they don''t take long to dry nor do they smell musty. You wouldn't do that if it wasn't all synthetic of course..then sponging is about the only solution
Kerrilyn
can we see a photo?? that might help..can you tell if his disks are wooden or plastic?? is the stuffing woodwool or synthetic?? if plastic and synthetic stuffing you can soak him a bit in warm soapy water, scrub the worst bits and spin dry in the washing machine and then give him a good brushing..if hes got wood then you can really only brush him out and sponge clean him..would love to see a pic..i was a collector of deans for years!! Congrats on such a great bargain!
