Marion had me send her bear to her parent's house. So I did. And Marion just got home from her parent's house this weekend. So guess who arrived at thier house today?? Poor frustrated Marion. She is so excited and she still can't see him yet.. LOL
I am getting quite a chuckle out of it.

Add my hugs to the rest. I have been there. EVERY time I get my mamo they have me come back. 5 years ago they had me come back for a biopsy. Then 2 weeks later they told me I had breast cancer. Now THAT  was scary!. Then they sent me to a cancer center in LA but before my appointment they called me in to say they "think" it is atypical hyperplasia"  instead. Atypical hyperplasia is just one step before cancer. So I kept my appointment in LA anyway. They concurred that it was atypical hyperplasia and thankfully the biopsy removed all the abnormal cells. So after more frequent mommos, they still say all is well. But I STILL end up going back every time I have a mammo for a re-check. They never find anything on the re-check, but I don't mind going back because I would rather them be extra careful rather than miss something.
Keep positive thoughts.
Hugs

Daphne,
I have heard from others that it felts really well. In fact, I know some that use the polyester stuffing as the "base" for all of thier critters.

do I detect needle felted ATC's in the future??
Sonya

SunnieOne

LOL Daphne
Looks like it's time to invest in one of those do-hinkeys that hold multiple needles at once. Or send them here.. .. on second thought, I am not that good at needle felting. I just finished a yorkie and them my yorkie (porkie yorkie) tore it to peices when I was gone. Took it right off my computer desk. My dogs have never bothered any of my bears, but for some reason Ladybug didn't like my little yorkie

I started off using cotter pin joints, but I could never get them tight enough to help with standing. So I now always use nut and bolt method. Sometimes I glue the bolt to the disk beforehand. It depends on how organized I am at the time. I don't find that it takes any more effort to use the nut and bolt method. I still use cotter pins for the head/neck joint most of the time, but I prefer to use nut and bolts for the neck joints also.

I would not replace mohair. I did one for a lady of the same era. It had hardly any mohair left at all. I repaired any tears in the backing, replaced pads by sewing over the originals, but leaving the originals in place and gave him a cute vintage jacket to wear for protection.

Aw thank you Louise! That means a lot to me!

My favorite has to be general Nathaniel Greene. He was sssssooooooo good to me with a win at the San Diego Show, The JeJu Teddy Bear Museum Award, a Golden Teddy nomination, A TOBY Industry Choice aWARD AND A toby pUBLIC cHOICE aWARD FOR 2004.

will tea work on synthetic felt as well as it does on cotton?
if so, I can have a lot more fun than I thought I could have...lol

I have found tea dying worked with both synthetic and natural materials.
Sonya

SunnieOne

Oh yea, I forgot something else I thought of. You might want to experiment since tea won't hurt your fabric. You also can start with white and airbrush the TEA right onto the finished bunny. No need to rinse out, just let it dry. just start with a few scraps to determine the strength of tea to use and go from there. All the advantages of airbrushing, without the "paint" (if that is what the producers are concerned about) and the added bonus that it smells great!

The only other option I was thinking of is to use white felt to start with, then after sewing up each piece, dip them in tea to tea dye the tan parts, leaving the white parts out. the tea dye is very subtle, but on white, it would take very quickly and after rinsing, the white parts would still be white. The biggest concern woud be dipping evenly to be consistent on all of the bunnies.

OK.. I had just a little time to work with this in between working on a real fur bear that isn't cooperating. sigh. so here is my first attempt.

What an inspiration Michele is. We met at the TOBY's in 2004.. well actually we met in San Diego prior to that, but we were side by side on the sales floor at the toby's. She is a terrific person and so willing to help others.
