wet-felted-bear.jpgthe wet felting will give you a piece of felt fabric when you're done. If I remember correctly You pull your roving fiber out and criss cross it in a larger area, make it as thick as you like, gently spray with warm soapy water until saturated and then gently squish the excess water out and leave to dry naturally or use a blow dryer on gentle to help it along. Some use a dish towel or a piece of mesh when squishing out the water. When its dry, trace your pattern pieces and cut them out. It's just quicker then using your needles to get a large piece. You can get a really nice effect if you mix your fiber colours as well. I'll have to try it again and see  for sure. I haven't done it since we showed the kids at school when my son was in about grade 5, that's about 7 years ago.
Good luck and let me know if it works OK for you.

Here's the little fella we made at school. Have fun.

She is so sweet. She definately looks sad to be leaving. Maybe even a bit sorry for disappointing you. I find that most  creations turn out the way they were suppose to. Keep that in mind next time and you'll end up pleasantly surprised. She really is trying to say something. Probably "not to toot my horn or anything, but you really did a good job. HAHAHAHA.

AnnG

I just love the facial expression. She'd look good in a profile shot too. I like her eyes and tummy. Good job.

AnnG

He's gorgeous. Your possibilities are endless. You've taken the first step down that road limited only by what your imagination dares to dream up. Go for it bear_thumb

She's absolutely gorgeous. She looks like a victorian bride bear. Just beautiful

So much joy brought by such a little fella. I find minis very addictive. Nice to meat a fellow bear nut.

AnnG

most bears will tell me there name but I guess this fella knew he was moving. I guess he just wanted to have his new family name him. If he's a little heavy that's because he has a little brass-coated shot in his pants. He figured if he was a little heavy he'd be able to stay put in his new home.
Thanks for the kind words everyone.

Enjoy him Sophie

He's here Sophie, and he is so sweet. And I love the treats too. They're extra special coming all the way from France. It took me a while to figure out where you hid the jingle bell. I love his hooded coat. It fits him perfectly. What do the initials on the tag stand for? Any way, he's here and I'll send you a photo soon. I love his name too. It's so different.
thanks again, and see ya at teddy talk

AnnG

Oh Judi he's gorgeous. I can hardly wait for your fabulous felted faces course to start. bear_smile

DSCN0539.JPGIf I don't say who it's for maybe she won't see the photos before she see's the real thing, which is on his way to France as we speak. I hope she likes it. I had a lot of fun working on it. My hubby says the hat makes him look like something from a doctor Seus story. I did watch the Grinch at work again.

MacGregor.jpgThis is MacGregor
He is wearing my first attempt at knitting for minis. He stands about 4" tall. His sweater took 2 days to make. Can you see the little cable knit into the front, HA HA?

AnnG

He's gorgeous. Having a son named Nicholas I am partial to all things st nicholas. He is so Christmassy and yet different from all the other bearing his name. I'm glad you're back at it. If you want to swap again some time let me know. We can choose a theme and go crazy.

AnnG

I absolutely love him. Maybe we could exchange christmas ornaments sometime.

the cool air mister is a great help, as the dry air is the culprit. I've even slept sitting up with a warm, wet facecloth over  my nose and mouth. Gargling with the warm salt water is great for sore throats, and put the vix vaporub on your back between your shoulder blades, it works better then on your chest. So perk up those pillows and, turn on the mister and sleep. bear_thumb

grizzly-gang-golliwogs.jpgOur bear group "the grizzly gang" had a golly workshop. We were given a pattern for a large or small golly and the rest was left up to us. Mine is the little fella on the bottom right with the white hair. Great fun.
Your bear looks nothing like these fellas. When you said you were dressing yours I decided I had to add something too. My hubby says it looks like something out of a doctor Seus book! Intrigued? I can hardly wait for your response.

cernit-bear-maker.jpgThis is my bear maker. He's made of cernit. I made the little bear's he's holding too. Then I got real brave and entered him in a contest at a show and won first prize. Along with the ribbon came the judges suggestions on improving him, which I found really helpful. Funny enough he reminds me of my grandfather. I can't see me ever parting with this fella.

grizzly-gang-golliwogs.jpghello, I'd thought you'd like to see our bear group's golly workshop. Mine is the little guy on the bottom right, green jacket and white hair. We were given either a large or small pattern and the rest was up to us. Great fun.

Chris-Nick-Mamere-and-Papere.jpgWell, I'm going to give it another try. With a little help from a friend, Jane, it just might work. Here goes
My son Chris is soon to be 19 (on the right) and my son Nick is 17.  with my mom and dad in front of their home in Penetanguishene, Ontario.

Our bear group THE GRIZZLY GANG did a workshop on gollys. We were given the pattern and the rest was up to us. Some did big ones and others did larger ones. I made a smaller one, about 5". I'm running out of cabinet space and I still have so many ideas. I'll send you a picture if I ever figure out how to do it.

I also love geneology. I've been working on the family tree for a long time. it's like treasure hunting. Keep it up.

Hello everyone. I just gave myself an earlly christmas gift. I've been playing around with felting. When I saw Judi's gorgeous bears and those of her students I knew I could no longer resist. I have just registered for her online class on "fabulous felted faces" given through www.northcountryteddybears for $60 US. This course begins on January 9th so that will prevent those after christmas blues we usually get when the rush is finally over.
I can hardly wait.
