I was going to ask the same question 'Do you still have your first ted ?' but thought I'd check to see, if it had been asked before first  bear_original  I'm glad I did.

Here is my first Ted, he's been everywhere with me.(hospitals, childrens home, adoptive home, married home and many other places since) His squeaker/growler no longer works, as I wasn't always nice to him. He's over 40 years old.  He needs a bit of a clean, but I'm not sure what to use. He's sounds like he's full of straw.

The doll was given to me by my adult cousin, I've had her nearly 40 years, but I don't know how long she had her before me. She has her original dress and shoes but some how lost her under wear..lol

Stitch

I love his face. Such an expressive look. I like the dark green and his eyes.

Stitch

He's wonderful. Good luck for the competition. He is a delight.

Stitch

rofl, I've saved that to show my family.

I just went and looked at Sandy's website.  What a treat!  Did you all know that she has 12 ferrets?  There are pictures of them on her site, and they are so cute, you just want to run out and get one for yourself!

Loved your doodle page, especially the drawing with the ark.  Your needle-felted dragon head is really terrific.   I have to admit to not having as much patience as needle-felting requires.  Give me a sewing machine anyday!

Anyway...this has been a great discussion.

Luann

First let me say, thank you to those who PM'd  and I promise I will show my um efforts at bear making, once I've finished the design course.

Luann, Thank you for your kind words. My needle=felting efforts are very basic as that's my first effort and the body-less dragon has been left waiting for me to return  and complete him, but he'll have to wait for now.
My first teddy's head,on the same page, has a VERY crooked nose  , I'm  sticking to making bigger teds, until I've mastered some new skills, then I'll return to the smaller Teds.
Of course I adore my ferrets, and they are a constant inspiration, I'm sure I'll be making a lot of Ferret like Teds.

Bear Hugs,
Sandy

When there has been blatant copying, especially as with the class, where the students were asked not to make and sell copys.  I think it's wrong but....

I wonder, how many people have been accused of copying, when in fact they haven't. bear_shocked

Before I make any bears to sell, I'm doing  Nancy Tillberg's 'Teddy Design' course that started on Jan 5th. I've made my own patterns of other animals before, but know I have much to learn on the subject.  I'm already nervous of showing any bears, here, even though I'd not steal anybody's patterns. After all everything I know about teddy's I'm learning from the course and from reading avidly all the tips in the library section of this forum. I'm inspired by artists here and bears/animals I've seen. Maybe by accident, those that have influenced me, will show in my work?? I want to be original, but a teddy by definition is not original.
I feel sorry for anyone who's been falsely accused. The guilty probably don't even feel guilty.  I can't help but wonder how many budding bear artists have been taught by an artist and it shows in their work, and have had to put up with hurtful comments, when they are doing their best to learn what they love and to find their own place and style.

Stitch

wow, love this bear. I'm sure your mum can see him and is watching over you.

1)I was privately adopted when I was 6 years old, my mother was lied too and coerced and I was tricked into what to say to the judge. My mother's are cousins.

2)As a child and  some of my teens,I lived in the USA (Minnisotta,Maryland and Ohio)

3) My adoptive father did some of the computer work, in a rocket that went to Mars in the 70's.

Stitch

He is adorable, I'm not surprised you gave him a new home.

Stitch

I'd use the bear as a 'tester' now.  A bear you can use to try different techniques on.  I'm not experienced though, there are others here who are better qualitied to give you advice. Hope you're feeling well now.

Stitch

Hugs and I've prayed for Kellisa, we'll add her to our family prayers too.

Oh no Sandy he didn't really think he could get away with it?
Silly Billy.  DId you give him an earful?

I remember, just wanting to cry. I can't remember what I said to him now, but he wasn't allowed to forget it for awhile  a LONG while. He's done other silly things since. The kids have grown up, but he hasn't..lol

Reminds me of my hubby, he dropped a tin of BLACK paint on my living room carpet, then procedded to try and wash it out, but only spread it further. He tried hidding it from me, by moving the couch over the stain, but the stain was too big. Some men are as bad as the kids  bear_wacko

Stitch

aww sorry for your pain. I hope it heals fully and fast.

Stitch

aww he's lovely!

Stitch

aww she is sooooooo cute. I love her posture and colouring.

Stitch

Oh, Right, Alan! I'd intended to test it first on a scrap. But by then, I've purchased it with unknown outcomes. I've seen ppl's work with this done but never been nervy enough to ask what the solid water is ....

So you want ME to test for all of us?? Ok ok after the new year....

I was going to try ' Liquid Illusion Acrylic Water', and blow bubbles into it, for the bubble bath effect.  As it looks like water, but sets hard.

I wonder if you'd have to grease the sides of a box or something like that, to have it set, then remove it, if you are wanting to be  "viewing the bear through the underwater windows and ports at the zoo?"

Stitch

I'd be interested in your results as I wanted to make a ferret having a bath, with bubbles etc, leaving an area for the ferret to sit, but didn't know if the solution would spoil the fabric.

Shelli,
As your husband knows the family, is there a way we can find out what she needs..ie a piece of equipment, that would help her in some way. Then we could perhaps work together to fund raise in the short term and long term to raise funds for that equipment.
