Yeah, Ebay. Love hate with that one.
I've always wondered why some items will be soo cheap, with crazy shipping charges. Now I know it's bec. the seller is avioding ebay fees. Too bad though, you sure have to be carefull to check the shipping costs BEFORE you bid.
Do a search on 'light tents'. You can get some for $o.o1. But shipping is lots. I still think it may be a good deal though. I only charge what it costs me, postage and supplies to ship an item. I figure that if the shipping is too high, I won't get bids. I know I won't pay crazy shipping charges unless it's still a great deal.
Judi, I almost bought those bracelets too. Good deal, but I didn't get any.
Heather
Aww, thanks guys. I needed that.
I'll take the motivation where I can get it, and you guys are a great source.
Well, that and all the mohair I get to buy now!!
"Wish I could find a habit to give up so I could afford more supplies guilt free "
You're way too funny Shari. You could always give up eating!! LOL
Heather
I'm shocked that you don't have thanksgiving in the Uk or Australia. I just assumed it would've been the same in all english speaking countries. Shows you how much I know.
So, in UK and Australia, how many holidays do you have?? I hope you have as many as us, just different ones I guess.
Soo cool to learn about the world this way!
Heather
Canadians beware.....UPS is $$$$$$$
I have gotten many packages from the US and they have been sent UPS. UPS charges a 'service fee' of $30-$50 to clear you package through Customs for you!!! That's not including the Customs fees. Imagine my surprise when I got my order for $50 and ended up paying $80 to UPS for delivery/Customs clearance & Customs fees. Canada Post charges $8 per package for Customs clearing.
I  UPS
Oh my!! I guess I better be on my toes. I'm going to have to ask when i order stuff then. If I were to pay $50 plus another $30 on a package of mohair I would die!!
Thanks soo much for the heads up. Scary, they do sound Evil.
Heather
I think she's great!!!!
I would shade just alittle bit in her ears though. I like to add color there, but that's just me.
She does have very lovley eyes!
Heather
I want him!!!
What a great bear. I just love your style
Heather
Great job!! You are so sweet to make a bear for charity. ANd such a good job with the safety eyes. I know it can be tough to place them.
Heather
It's been one whole month now that I haven't had a cigarette. YAY
So, normally so far, I wouldn've spend $200 on smokes this month. ( I KNOW!!)
So I just went out and bought a bunch of glass eyes and mohair for my smoking money. Guilt free!!!
I think this is the best part about quitting, saving up and spending the cash!! LOL
Okay, so I just wanted to brag.
Thanks for reading.
Heather
What a great question. I can't wait to hear the answers and I'm also trying to order from them today. NEED MORE MOHAIR!! Not really, but hey.
My all time fav. of theirs, although i haven't tried everything is
http://www.intercaltg.com/colors/finish370SC.html
I think they also have that same type of fur only a longer pile. If I was at home, I'd take a picture of the bear I just made with it. Soo nice and soft, and pretty thick. Although I've never used Schultz. Not yet anyway.
Plus, you can get this stuff in tonnes of colors and I love that.
Can't wait for more replies.
Heather
Just revisiting this thread.
Winney, good idea!!
Anyone want to swap mohair peices??? 1/4 yds or 1/2 yrs is what I have.
Just a thought, maybe get a swap going.
Heather
Cute bear! He's the same color as you aviator bear.
One thought does come to mind when I read your post though....It's still hot there?? Ahhh, must be nice to be south :P
Heather
That is soo funny. I had a good laugh with that one.
Now maybe I'll be more understanding when I'm browsing thru a translated site.
Heather
You're on your way for sure. What appeal your bears have, and how lots more people can see that!!
CONGRATS!!!!!!! :bday: :cake:

Heather
I just wanted to jump in again and thank everyone who posted here.
Although I've only just made my 1st pattern, i hope one day to make some sort of living out of bear making. It's really helpfull to hear of what opportunites can come up and what you guys do about it. This sort of knowedge is priceless and I thank you.
Heather
Awsome job! Went and saw your bear, now I'm shopping for mohair. Ooops
Heather
Wow, how cute. Thanks for posting a picture. Interesting how they don't drink. Koala dont' drink either do they??
Interesting point, my tarantula didn't eat for 2.5 yrs. I thought he was going to die soon untill one attempt to feed him worked. That was about 3 yrs ago. I guess if they don't move, they don't have to eat. Still weird though.
Heather
Shelli, I've been told I'm a 'wise soul' for a long time now. It's because I'm a pisces. It's the last sing of the Zodiac, and supposedly means you've had many a past life. Once you master a sign, you move onto the next one, and pisces is the last one. I guess if I master life soon, I'll reach enlightenment. Blah, blah blah blah. Sorry to bore you all. But think of any little pisces kids you know, I bet they seem older too.
Sue Ann and Eileen, you guys are soo sweet!! 'That place with the Lynx was also the place I saw my 1st emu. Such cool animals, but to be honest, I haven't met an animal I didn't love. Even snakes and rats.
I love how us bear makers are also animal lovers. That's where my passion came from. Wanting to recreate something as cute as a real animal.
Heather
Sooo coool!!
I want to come over to your house and play now!!
I guess I've been deprived. I've never had or played with a doll house before. You sure did put alot of work into yours.
Thanks for sharing,
Heather
Glad it's okay. Thanks for your complements.
CANDY IS GOOD!!!!
Deb, I work at a help desk. So I help people with their computer problems and they have to call in. Sure I have to work on my computer as well, but while I'm waiting for a reboot or something I felt.
Hayley, Haven't poked myself yet while on the phone. Good point to ponder though. I could get in real trouble............
Heather
Hey guys. Just getting into the spirt of the month.
These are things I make at work since I work on the phone all day. Helps cure the boredom.
Thought I'd share this one as I actually got to take him home. Usually someone at work buys the 'newest one'.
Hope it okay I show him off, I know it's not a bear. Just a crazy face pumpkin.
Heather
I was wondering that too Kim. Thanks alot for the info
Heather
Mandie, I always seem to get dinged for customs as well. I can pay up to $30 sometimes for a package. Makes it hardly worth it.
I sure wish there was a better way.
Heather
Oh Winney. I bet that took a long time to type out.
I was all for it untill I read your post. The main point that hit me was what ended up as your hourly wage. That's the tough thing about selling art. Making enough per hour. You would've made alot selling 1500 bear patterns, or even half that much. I really see your point. I might argue that it's good advertising. But only you can tell me if it did anything. I'd be very interested to know.
I guess either way, it seems like a personal choice if it's worth it or now.
I'd like to know what mag that bear was in. I'd like to see the bear.
Thanks for sharing your experience. It's hard sometimes to find a good honest answer.
Everyone else had great points too. Someone will always sell a bear from another's patter. But Dilu is right, it would never be a nice. I know I use other artists patterns. I love it!! I dont' sell them, but I do give them away and keep them. Plus, I sure learn lots. But I'm maybe one of the few honest ones.
either way, congrats on the offer, should you accept it. It's definatly an honor.
Heather
Great work, sooo cute!!
Heather
Oh Hayley, if I ever get the money to fly there, I will for sure come say hi! Thanks for the offer. And thanks for the pictures. I love them!!! I really dream of seeing a Kangaroo. And if I ever got to pet a tame one!!!! I have seen an Emu before. Lots of people here have them. Amazed that they can live in your warm climate and our cold one. Poor things, I'm sure they would choose to stay in Australia.
This picture is of me holding a Canadian animal. It's a lynx, and by far the biggest cat I've ever held. Don't mind the yucky picture of me, long day outside
Eileen, nice to hear you rescued the rat, and that it meant more to than than the boy!!!
Matilda, I've never ever heard of Tamars and Quokas either. Interesting animals you guys have!!!!!
Oh yeah, and Hayley. I worked in pet stores for years, (only the good ones though. Lots of bad ones! ) And although it is gross to feed a snake a rat, mouse etc. It's the way it has to be. If I didn't feed the snakes a mouse, they would die. Although I would always kill the mouse myself, so I knew it would die fast and painless. And not easy for me to do, I haven't eaten meat for about 13 years now. So I can't even eat a chicken or cow. But I did understand that the poor snakes had to eat meat. Gross though, I know.
