That sounds like a great name. I really like it.   bear_original

Names are important. I am always asked why my business is called 'katiescraftworks' because my name is Cathie and people want to know why 'katies' rather than 'cathies' - reason is because my mother always called me kate or katie.  To everyone else I have always been Catherine or Cathie, but, mum always called me 'katie' and it is in her memory I called my business katiescraftworks.

The name you have picked is a smart move, I think. It sounds good.

Thanks so much for sharing these photos with us. I so enjoyed looking at all of them. They are wonderful and they help me to realise what a vast world it is out there.

That is interesting. Thanks for sharing that.

They are now linking lack of vitamin D with MS.  I have MS and I have always hated sunlight. I have never had a suntan in my life and I am happiest indoors and I have MS, so, it is an interesting thought.

Aren't they funny? My cats love to get into the weirdest of spaces.  My ginger cat is laying in the plastic laundry basket as I write.  I discovered my tortishell cat relaxing in my (large) hand bag a few weeks ago. I took a photo of that.  bear_grin

It looks really good.  I have been re doing my website over the past week or so. It is hard work.  It seems like the older I get the dumber I get at html stuff.

Your site looks great.  bear_original

Makes my blood boil when I hear of such things.............  I, myself am rather "well upholstered" bear_happy  but I am very fit. I walk for over 6 hours a week delivering junk mail.......... I have Multiple Sclerosis and my balance is rather bad, but, pushing my delivery trolley keeps me amazingly upright (most of the time. lol).......anyway, I have found that every now and then I will come across hoons driving past in a car who think it is highly amusing to yell and make fun of the "fat lady".

It is a really awful thing to have to go through and I want to send you a hug {{{{{{{{{Clare}}}}}}}}} People can be so thoughtless and cruel. I too would hate it if any of my kids did something like that, but, I really do not think they would because they have grown up watching me struggle with my weight and with health issues in general and they know how hard I struggle.

What has often bothered me is the thought that maybe my kids were teased cos their mum is overweight. My two older children are now grown and living away from home. My youngest son just turned 13.  None of my kids have ever told me they have been teased cos their mum is fat, but, the thought does haunt me.  BTW, all my kids are normal weight......

I have also been verbally abused while in public, not because of my weight, but because of my unsteadiness on my feet. I do have very bad balance and I am clumsy and tend to bump into stuff or walk crooked. Not because I am drunk, but, because I have MS.   Most people like to assume it is because I am mucking around and acting like an idiot on purpose..........as if...............  arghhhhhhhhhh

I could stop a lot of the comments by using a walking aid, like a cane and that would give people a clue that I am not drunk, but, that I have an illness, but, why should I?

Yes, I use my trolley to walk long distances to deliver junk mail, but, I do not need it or a cane for walking at the mall (a shopping trolley is a great balancing aid... lol)

Bear hugs, Cathie

PS: Sorry for the long ramble, but, I relate to what you went through.

Hi Christine,

Yep, the hot weather was, well, very, very hot.   bear_grin

We usually get similar weather to Adelaide, but, I think you were hotter than us.

I normally do not cope well in the heat (I am now used to my air conditioner at home) and when my air con in my cabin was next to useless, well, I did not think I would cope, but, I did.

I spent most of the time sitting on the veranda because despite the heat, it was cooler outside than inside.

Now I am back home, it is back to work and back to bearmaking. I have two bears here that I started to make before I went away. Now I will finish them.............

I hope it is not too hot this coming week......

Not that I expected anyone to miss me because I have not been a member of this forum for long................   bear_grin

I went away for a week to a cabin I have in a place called Porepunkah.

IT WAS SO HOT.  My son and I went through 25 litres of water in 5-6 days.

I sat on the verandah of my cabin most days and just cross stitched.  I decided not to do any bears while I was away because I really needed to work on the birth sampler I am cross stitching for my grandaughter in celebration of her birth last month.  I got a lot done.

I took my laptop computer and wrote a blog (and took photos) and I uploaded it a little while ago.

http://porepunkah.blogspot.com/

We had a lovely time and I plan to spend at least one weekend a month at my cabin. I did not get up there much last year because I was so sick. Now I am feeling better I intend to bet up there as often as I can.   bear_original

I designed and made a bear last week and put it on Ebay.  This one is my last bear for this year, but,  I have another bear cut out and half sewn and I am going away for a few days and will finish making it while I am away.  I am also in the middle of stitching a birth sampler for my daughters new baby girl and I hope to have that finished (finally) by the time I come back from my break.

For me, stitching is what I do when I want to relax. lol

I also had a bad few months this year when I lost the vision in one eye and could not do any sewing for months, so, I tend to sew now whenever I can because I do not know when or if my eyesight will disappear again (I had Optic Neuritis, common for people with Multiple Sclerosis, which is what I have)..........

I hang my head in shame, when I put my hand up and say, I am doing nothing.     bear_ermm

We are just over 8 hours away from the new year and my guess is that I will be in bed sleeping by 8pm, cos that is what I do every night. lol lol

I lead what most people would see as a very boring life, but, I am happy. I rise at dawn and am in bed asleep early as possible. Tonight will be no different, except I may stay up a tiny bit later because I have junk mail to fold so it is ready for me to deliver to 350 houses on Wednesday morning (I have flat out refused to deliver on new years day.)

From January 4th I am taking a 10 day break from my delivery work and going up to a cabin I own in the countryside.  I am leaving on January 6th and staying there until January 12th.  That is my new year gift to myself and my son.

I was quite ill for most of this year and this is the first time since May that I have been well enough to drive my car up to my cabin and we are really looking forward to it.

I will be spending most of the time sitting on the balcony, making teddy bears and cross stitching.

She is gorgeous. I so love looking at photos of pets. Pets are wonderful. I love dogs, but, I am a cat person (I have 4 cats, or rather, they have ME. lol lol)

Mattie is beautiful and she looks very happy to be at her new home.

Have enjoyed reading this topic. What I would like to do is make a decent looking mini bear, an old fashioned looking one, like my bigger bears are. I really must give it a try.  I also want to design and make more clothing for my bears - old fashioned looking clothes.......................   I lack confidence as well as time.  Maybe it is time to come out of my comfort zone and instead of just thinking about it, actually do it.  ;0)

From one brand new, first time grandma to another - CONGRATULATIONS.   bear_grin

Isn't it a wonderful feeling? Isn't it awesome? Isn't it just the best, to be a new grandma?????????????

Honestly, the birth of my grandaughter last Thursday was one of the best days of my whole life and I will never forget it and I bet it is the same for you on the birth of your wonderful grandson.

Sending lots of hugs and smiles,

Cathie

The cruelty to innocent creatures never ceases to make me feel sick.  Poor Keira. What she must have suffered. I cannot even begin to imagine.....

I am a huge cat lover. I have four. One of them has only 3 legs. My daughter bought him home to me after his owners were going to have him put down 4 years ago. He has been with me ever since and I bless the day he came to live with my son and myself.

My other cats, I have had since they were only a few weeks old and Daisy, the oldest turned 15 in September. My youngest cat, Bambi (my son named her) just turned 2.

My blood boils when I see what humans are capable of doing to innocent creatures.  Keira is so lucky she is with you.

Sending bear hugs,

Cathie

Thanks so much everyone. It has been a wonderful time.

Seeing and holding my new grandaughter was one of the best days in my life.  I have lost both my parents in the past couple of years and it is sad they are not here to share this, but, I felt them in the room with us yesterday and in the photo where I am holding the baby, I can see my mother in my face.

I cannot put into words what a joyful time this has been. The past few years, with one thing and another have been very tough and to have the joy of a new life is so special and means so much.

Bearhugs, Cathie
