Hehehe...these have me in stitches...
Butt dust!!!!!
*wipes tears from her eyes*
Love, love, love this idea!!! Now you have my head buzzing with images and plans for cards....
Thankyou Shelli
That's wonderful Kim, and means so much, doesn't it? Must have given you a warm glow inside!!! Well done you!
I defy anyone not to love her, Gina! She's a beautiful little bear and sends you a huge, great hug from the UK! She's even captured my hubby's heart - which is praise indeed!
Johnny Depp...great actor . And not bad to look at either!!!!
And Matthew McConaughey is cute, but I prefer John Corbett (similar looks, don't you think?). John was in The Wonder Years, and Northern Exposure (one of my favourite all time programmes!).
Well, I'm delighted to introduce Penelope to you...she's the gorgeous swap bear that Gina (Orange Blossom Bears) kindly sent me and I love her to bits! She was relieved to get out of her box and has settled in quickly, choosing to watch the world from the top of a pile of books . She's a little sweetheart and smiled nicely for the camera, then climbed back onto her books again to see the world go by. I have the feeling she is a wise soul and will have a lot of tales to tell me....
Thankyou so much Gina. Penelope is a delight, and so are you for sending her to me!!!!
Hi Janet - welcome to TT!
To attach the glass eyes I use strong thread (gutermann's buttonhole thread in my case) placed through the loop, and then I crimp the loop with pliers so that it forms a point and holds the thread. I usually double or treble my thread for extra strength. With a large needle, the thread is taken through the head from the position I want the eye to be in, to the lower back of the head. I pull firmly and ease the point of the crimped loop into the material. Then I take half the strands of thread at the exit point and make a small stitch, so that I can tie a double knot to hold the positioned eye in place....keeping tension on the threads so that the eye 'sinks' into the fur. Finally the threads are buried back into the head.
I hope this makes sense! Others will have variations on this and may make other suggestions that you like better - it's a case of having a go and seeing what works for you!
I could probably whip up a stick figure one!
Me too Deb, me too!!!
This teeny baby is just gorgeous, Kim, and as soon as my daughter saw the photo she wanted me to buy it for her....aww....it really is so precious and I'm in total admiration! Please show us more if you make more!
Now that Gina has received Clarissa I thought I'd post a photo of her here. Clarissa is 7" tall and made from tipped mohair from Intercal (50S/TDI 359ST). I can't tell you how nervous I was sending a bear to a fellow bear-maker, but Clarissa seems to be settling in well and I'm thrilled that Gina loves her!!! Thanks for giving her such a wonderful home, Gina!
Your daughter couldn't wish for a more wonderful gift - I'm sure she's going to love him!
Very cute and totally sweet - love the floppy ear!!!
Gosh, someone is going to be very happy indeed - he's wonderful!
How cute!!! He looks like he's having a fantastic time!
She's just gorgeous, Jenny! I love her pretty hair-do . Good Luck in the comp!
I'm into making soups at the moment and this one sounds good! Definitely going to try it
Aww, thanks everyone! I really appreciate your encouragement ;). This little bear has been collected by the couple who bought her, and they are thrilled... yay!.
Gosh, they are fantastic!!! I'm in awe....
It's frustrating Shantell, I know from experience! There's something that could be improved with each of my bears...I'm never 100% happy either. I look at it as a learning curve, one that will probably continue for a very long time and perhaps for as long as i make bears!
Perhaps these little imperfections or annoyances are only really obvious to us???!
I think they are having problems Brenda - I wasn't able to use the search option just now (a red message came up saying they were aware of the glitch). Hold tight for a while and hopefully it'll be fixed soon.
BTW, I saw Gracie using the link to your eBay page, and she's gorgeous!!! A lovely bear!
Update: I just tried again and found her listing, in the 'artist, one of a kind' section as Sophie said... .
I hesistate to add my latest little bear, with all the wonderful creations that are currently in the showcase section!!!
But here is little 'Helena' - I didn't name her for reasons of vanity , but she was commissioned as a Christening present for a little girl also called Helena! The couple who commissioned her thought it would be cute to have a bear called Helena, for Helena, made by Helena!
She is 3.5" tall and made from vintage upholstery fabric. And she wears a little crocheted shamrock on her tiara (as requested) because the baby has Irish parents... :).
Wonderful, wonderful bear - just love the expression. She's so irresistable! Good luck in the comps - I checked out your other entries too and they are all brilliant and deserve a prize each!!!
Oooh, Winkflash has a UK site and they're cheaper than the company I usually use! Thanks Sue Ann! (The link: http://www.winkflash.com/uk/ )
Grelots in it's ears??!!! Ouch!!!
