HAHAHA!
The mittens got in the way of eating his chocolate, so we took them off but he has them back on again.
Hehe! He's so cute!
Marion,
I'm so sorry for your loss. Gracie looks content in that picture.
So .... the bear is not done. I got home at 10:45. The party was a BLAST. It was a casino themed event with gambling, then dinner, then dessert and after dinner drinks. When I got home I looked at him there on the table, still in pieces, but I was just too pooped to do a good job. I'll finish this week and give him to my friend on the 28th.
I wasn't able to stick to my Coke and Pepsi only plan. I knew it was over when I heard myself say "Riesling please." I'm not a heavy drinker by any means, but two glasses of wine and a Chambord aren't conducive to detailed teddy work.
Part of that is enjoying your office party without guilt or pressure. I hope you're able to do that!
Mission accomplished!
Jane that's wonderful. Congratulations to Sarah!
Deb, what a great idea, the snap thing, so you can change his colors...great...can we 'borrow' the idea from you?
Absitively!
LOL ... but note we have time for TT. Go figure.
It's NOT just you. But I do feel like this year I have a little bit better handle on things. I'm a little more organized. Did less shopping.
That premixed Holiday Eggnog is WONDERFUL! Get some of that. And take little naps whenever possible. This will be easy to do if you've taken the right amount of Holiday Eggnog!
Diane ~ HA ... usually takes me two weeks, which is why I asked. I just sooo wanted to get this finished on time, and it's not looking good.
But I'll do my best. It may have to be an after Christmas gift.
Sandi ~ Me too! I get told this every year on my performance review. Hmm ... wonder if that's why they keep piling the work on.
BUY 'EM A HUGE BOX OF CHOCCIES AND GIVE THEM THE BEAR FOR NEW YEAR!!! :bday:
Does this help Deb????

THIS will be my contingency plan. If I start falling apart 11ish, I'll do it! Thanks!
Hugs and a cyber coffee for your marathon sewing session tonight! It CAN be done!!!
Oh there WILL be coffee, trust me. And only Coke or Pepsi at the party. Well, maybe one white wine spritzer.
I went to bed at 1:30 am and was up at 6:00.
Daphne ~ Take a little nap. You'll feel better and won't get run down.
Love, Mom
Kim ~ Machine. But all that's left is sewing gusset and head pieces together.
Thanks all.
Thanks. It's not like I couldn't work past midnight ... it's just that I turn into an ugly ol' witch if I don't get my rest!
I have a bear started that I DESPERATELY want to finish for tomorrow for a gift. I have legs, arms, and body all sewn, seams cleaned, and trimmed, curves clipped, fray check applied, etc. Gusset is pinned to head and ready to sew.
So ... I have to:
- sew gusset to head, pick seams
- assemble
- stuff
- eyes, nose, mouth
- ears
This is a small bear. I'd say 8", or there abouts.
The kicker: I have a Christmas party tonight. It's the office party, and is scheduled to end at 9:00. Think all that is do-able between say 10 and midnight?
I don't normally work like that ... I usually finish bears over severals days, sometimes only spending 15-20 minutes at a time. Just wondering what your experience is ... those of you who would normally finish these items all at once.
Thanks.
Of course since I'm her mother, I could be somewhat biased.

Maybe ... but you should be; that's lovely.
Deb,
Yep! I emailed the info to you. Check your messages here on TT! :D
I'll check email. Thanks!
What Pen and Pip said.
Just keep at it. But if you ARE going to go nuts .... never, never go quietly!

RE: Christmas Party
I'm happy to inform you that the company Christmas Party will take place on December 23, starting at noon in the private function room at the Grill House. There will be a cash bar and plenty of drinks! We'll have a small band playing traditional carols...feel free to sing along. And don't be surprised if our CEO shows up dressed as Santa Claus! A Christmas tree will be lit at 1:00 pm. Exchange of gifts among employees can be done at that time, however, no gift should be over $10.00 to make the giving of gifts easy for everyone's pockets. This gathering is only for employees! A special announcement will be made by our CEO at that time!
Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Patty

RE: Holiday Party
In no way was yesterday's memo intended to exclude our Jewish employees. We recognize that Chanukah is an important holiday, which often coincides with Christmas, though unfortunately not this year. However, from now on we're calling it our "Holiday Party." The same policy applies to any other employees who are not Christians or those still celebrating Reconciliation Day. There will be no Christmas tree. No Christmas carols will be sung. We will have other types of music for your enjoyment.
Happy now?
Happy Holidays to you and your family.

RE: Holiday Party
Regarding the note I received from a member of Alcoholics Anonymous requesting a non-drinking table... you didn't sign your name. I'm happy to accommodate this request, but if I put a sign on a table that reads, "AA Only", you wouldn't be anonymous anymore. How am I supposed to handle this?
Somebody?
Forget about the gifts exchange, no gifts exchange are allowed since the union members feel that $10.00 is too much money and executives believe $10.00 is a little chintzy. NO GIFTS EXCHANGE WILL BE ALLOWED.

RE: Holiday Party
What a diverse group we are! I had no idea that December coincides with the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which forbids eating and drinking during daylight hours. There goes the party! Seriously, we can appreciate how a luncheon at this time of year does not accommodate our Muslim employees' beliefs. Perhaps the Grill House can hold off on serving your meal until the end of the party-- or else package everything for you to take it home in little foil doggy baggy. Will that work?
Meanwhile, I've arranged for members of Weight Watchers to sit farthest from the dessert buffet and pregnant women will get the table closest to the restrooms. Gays are allowed to sit with each other. [INVALID] do not have to sit with Gay men, each will have their own table.
Yes, there will be flower arrangement for the Gay men's table. To the person asking permission to cross dress, no cross dressing allowed though. We will have booster seats for short people. Low-fat food will be available for those on a diet. We cannot control the salt used in the food we suggest for those people with high blood pressure to taste first. There will be fresh fruits as dessert for Diabetics, the restaurant cannot supply "No Sugar" desserts. Sorry!
Did I miss anything?!?!?

RE: The #$%*!@% Holiday Party
Vegetarians?!?!?!? I've had it with you people!!! We're going to keep this party at the Grill House whether you like it or not, so you can sit quietly at the table furthest from the "grill of death," as you so quaintly put it, and you'll get your #$%^&*! salad bar, including organic tomatoes. But you know, tomatoes have feelings, too. They scream when you slice them. I've heard them scream. I'm hearing them
scream right NOW! I hope you all have a rotten holiday!
Drive drunk and die, you hear me!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!

RE: Patty Smith and Holiday Party
I'm sure I speak for all of us in wishing Patty Smith a speedy recovery and I'll continue to forward your cards to her. In the meantime, management has decided to cancel our Holiday Party and give everyone the afternoon of the 23rd off with full pay.
Happy Holidays!
Joan
