 Great egg, Wendy.
Paper mache . . . of course!!
I never knew you can't blow up water balloons either.
Thanks for these instructions and photos, everyone!
Now I'm inspired to try a second neck. My first one looked like a goiter
I have used fabric circles at the neck/body joint instead of gathering. I like the look better.
Instead of sewing the fabric circle on first, then inserting the disk, I cover the disk with fabric (touch of gluestick helps to keep it in place) and then ladderstitch the fabric-covered disk into the neck/head opening. Since the fabric covered disk is set into the neck, not on top of it, the joint becomes invisible.
I'm another KATHERINE HEPBURN, huzza! I love her
You are smart, a real thinker. Every situation is approached with a plan. You are very healthy in mind and body. You don't take crap from anyone. You have only a couple of individuals that you consider "real friends".
You teach strong family values. Keep your feet planted in them, but don't overlook a bad situation when it does happen.
A Belated Welcome to Teddy Talk, Dana!
Your birds are gorgeous! If I didn't have so many cats . . .
I once birdsat a cockateil named Tiffany. If she felt ignored or lonely, she made ringing telephone noises to get her Mom's attention.
Have a wonderful, profitable time at Hugglets, everybody, and please don't forget to take LOTS OF PICTURES for the Hugglets-deprived! :photo:
Bobbie, thanks for reminding us of what a wonderful, thoughtful lady she was, and how much we've lost.
Just gorgeous, Paula--that fur is so complex, it just makes me want to play with it.
Beautiful, beautiful bears, Marion
I love your reds, but these are amazing--they'll be sold in a minute.
Have a great show, everyone, and don't forget lots of pictures, pleeeeeze? :photo: :photo: :photo: :photo:
I second Wendy, Karen--your work is breathtaking!
I didn't realize that you worked with synthetics. Anyone doubting their possibilities just has to look at your amazing kitties--they've got more life in them than my live ones do!
I'll be in on the challenge. I've been asked to make a faux fur white lop rabbit dressed in a purple frock and a white pinafore for a baby's Christmas present. Child-safe, of course. The customer also wants a matching dress and pinafore for the baby--talk about a challenge!
BIG smiles from me too!!
I love your method for disk and thread jointing. It's much nicer than thread alone.
I'll take one of those package-and-post things too.
It took me a solid week to get my business account with Canada Post sorted out so that I could send off two little mice, one to Mass. and one to Sweden. Packing them up properly took hours but (silly me) . . . I thought the worst was over. I took them to the PO and was told that there was something wrong with my pre-printed mailing labels. Took them back and tried to do it again, but since I'd already paid a gazillion $$, it got complicated.
So today I got back to the PO with acceptable pre-printed labels, only to find that the PO lady had never heard of such things . . . she was very suspicious of my labels.
"Are you sure these are already paid for?"
"Twice," said I wearily and foolishly, because I then had to explain the whole online business account thing, plus my unhappy experience with same.
WOW--leave it to a MOM!
Mindy, please don't think we're being snarly and negative about TB&F and its service--we just get overeager and bratty sometimes
Great lessons, Jodi . . . can't wait for the next one
What size seam allowance do you use on a mini?
TISSAVEL, and I'll arm wrestle anyone who says otherwise!
It's got and undercoat, guard hairs, tipping, the whole works.
And Sassy's Smokey Long Pile, which is yummy for mice.
And the odd piece of stuff that I find at the back of a dusty old fabric shop that's perfect.
I'm easy--a needlethreader and a housekeeper!
 Fantastic site, Heather--I adore your colors and your shadows (and your bears).
What a wonderful way to remember, Roxanne!
Jane, I really like your poem--I've often wondered what Lady Liberty was thinking on that day.
Wow--these bears are all different and all wonderful.
What a cutie, Sarah Jane--with those big lavender eyes and fluffy fur, she's just begging for a hug
We'll be praying for you, Larry--thanks for posting.
Welcome, Donna--it's an honor to meet you!
Thanks Dilu--it's a treat to see these pix of Winney in action, and a great comfort.
What a lovely, generous lady, and what a painful loss for us.
I hope she's rolling in mohair in a beautifully stocked and organized studio--the kind you could only find in Heaven.
OH NO--Winney was such a sweet person and such a great help to a beginner like me. I feel awful.
 I would have needed a drool bib......I'm drooling now just from the pics!!
Me too, Tracy--I keep having another look at those pictures, and I think I'm turning into Pavlov's dog!
Irene, you're soooooo lucky (green with envy smiley).
And your bears are wonderful
Is there any chance that the tag on Daphne's mohair is readable in your original photo?
Double oopsie, Gaby!
I meant that Jodi is the pro, and a fumble-fingers like myself would love to see how she makes a mini.
