Thank you everyone!!
Denby, my first show was thi spast Saturday here in Johannesburg. I sold all of my small creations and 1 larger bear. I am hoping to sell the others now that the holidays are aproaching. I can just picture the rocking horse sitting under someones tree or on the fireplace harth as part of the decor......
Hi Napity,
Thank you for the compliment! The fur part of the body is sewn like you would a teddy bear body and jointed in the same way. When I created this pattern, I removed the bottom half of the arms and legs and insted of stuffing them, I needle felted her arms and legs coming out of the fur openings. I then sutffed the back fur part with a little stuffing before closing up the seem. The face is needle felted on to the blank head. Hope that helps some. At some point I may do a tutorial with pictures on my blog.
thanks,
Anthony
These are my latest creations that were finished in time for my first show.
You can see all of their pics in the needle felting section or visit my FB page (Crown Critters) or my blog www.crowncritters.blogspot.com
thanks,
Anthony
This is my 2012 Santa and the only one that I will make this year. He is currenlty for sale on Ebay. He is soild needle felted and has no wire armature. He is able to stand on his own, is fully posable and his clothes are hand sewn from burgundy velvet and trimmed in faux white mink. His boots are also solid wool felting and have been sealed, sanded and sealed and sanded many times to look like leather boots.
This is Matilda. She is made of premium faux fur and needle felted using merino wool roving. She stands about 6' tall (4" sitting) and holds a removable needle felted teddy bear. She was sold at my first show this past Saturday.
This is Rocky, Rocking Horse. He is by far my largest needle felting project to date. He stands about 1 and half feet high (2 feet with the wooden rockers) and is about 2 and half feet long. He is sold needle felting over a central wire frame and his saddle and reigns are also hand made out of scrape leather. He took me months to complete but was a labor of love.
ABSOLUTELY!!! I definitely want one! Please let us know how/where to order.
thanks,
Anthony
This is my new design prototype......I think I am going to call them Belly Button Bears. His face, hands, feet and fat little tummy are all needle felted using Merino Tops roving and he has black glass eyes and a sealed nose.

This is my new prototype for a Santa Christmas ornament. I have made 5 of them so far and have now started on a full Santa doll using the same face design.
These are my second and third needle feltings. Complete pictures are in the needle felting section.
The horse will be a rocking horse when I attach the wooden rails to the bottom.
Hi Everyone,
I started both my second and third needle feltings at about the same time and wanted to share what I have so far. Humpty Dumpty is completed and the rocking horse is just waiting for a freind to cut out the wooden rails for me. The rocking horse was a very large project and I dont think I will attempt anything quite that size for a while, but I really really enojyed the process and have learned so much along the way. Alot of people ask how many years I have been doing this and I am being very honest when I say that I never picked up a felting needle or bear material until May of this year. I am very excited to see where this takes me as I would love to get better and better and eventually make a living doing this. Thank you again to the freinds I have made on here and the great words of encouragement from you all. I am so inspired by the wealth of talent that is displayed on this website!
Both Humpty and the rocking horse are solid needle felting including Humpty's hat. I made all of his clothes by hand as well as the real leather saddle, bridal and reigns for the horse. They are both shaded with various colors of merino wool roving and some acrylic paint. Both have glass eyes. Humpty is about 12 inches (30 cm) sitting and the rocking horse is about 3 feet long (1 meter) and stands about 2 feet high before the wooden rails are added.
Thank you all so very much for the kind words and encouragement. I will put up pictures of my newest creation as soon as it is finished. I am working on a rocking horse.........
What a beautiful, sweet, little face. She is really gorgeous!!!
I decided that Mr. Bunny needed clothing and so I created a sloper from his measurements and used that to create a pattern for his vest and coat. With the addition of some trim, buttons and lace, he is all ready to go to the show next month. I do not own a sewing machine, so I had to hand stich this after looking up how to make doll clothes online. Yes, this is my first time making clothes for one as well. Luckily, my grandmother taught me how to hand sew as a child and I really love how it turned out.

LOVE IT!! What a beautiful sweet face!!
Wow!! She is gorgeous!!!
Hi Becky,
Thank you so much!! Yes, I am planning on being at the show. It is my very first time and I can't wait to see all the talent and beautiful creations that people come up with. I am extremely excited!!
It dawned on me that I never posted picures in the showcase of my little mink bear that I finished last month. I am currently woking on a solid color blonde mink bear that will be entered along with this one and the needle felted Mr. Bunny in to a show/contest here in Johannesburg in about 6 weeks. This is my second bear and my first one in real fur. He is muslin lined and hand stiched from two different colors of vintage mink collars taken from old coats. He is roughly 6.5 inches (15cm) tall while standing. He has extensive scissor sculpting on his face, hands and feet. He has black German glass eyes and is fully jointed. His toes, nose and paw pads are hand sculpted from heat set (Filanni) clay and hand painted.
Thanks,
Anthony
Thank you all so very much for your encouraging words. I really enjoying looking at all of your work and everyone here is so nice!
This bunny is my latest creation and my first time needle felting. The rest of his pictures are in the needle felting section. He was a lot of fun to create and watch come to life from my head. I would like to send out a thank you to everyone who gave me advice for my first time and especially Joanne Livingston at Desert Mountain Bear! This is a great website and I have already met so many nice and welcoming people.
Hi everyone! This is my very first attempt at needle felting. I started this rabbit a little over a week ago and just worked on it in the evenings while sitting on the couch. His arms, ears and individual fingers are all wired to move and hold their shapes. He has black German glass eyes and is felted from a combination of Merino and Corriadale wools. The white core that I started with is actually all done with polyfil stuffing and I felted the colors of wool over it. I still have some detail work to do and would like to add wiskers and a tail still. I am also going to make him a little vest and a ascot I think.
