Genesis paints heat set at 130C. They need 7-8 minutes to set. The tubs you purchase will last you years as the pigment needs to be diluted either with a recomended thinner or Genesis Thinning Gel. For reborn dolls, you dilute the paints almost to a clear liquid, and then build up the layers.

I am not sure I would use them on my bears, firstly the pigment would be very strong if used on its own, secondyly to set the paint you would have to put your bear in an oven. The heat gun you can use is very powerfull, and it takes a few seconds to heat set the paint. Do it longer on a bear, you will burn the mohair.

The paints must be stored in suitable plastic jars or glass containers as the paints re act  to certain plastics. Once mixed you can close the tub/jar and keep it till needed for another time.

I prefer using Prisma Pens, sometimes copic pens, or an airbrush with the recommended paints.

Where am I - well while working on my website update I discovered Facebook and MAFIA wars !!! So now my daily schedule- Wake up, Mafia War fix, Email check, then sort out the other things needing to be done.

Having a home based shop, I introduced cloth and reborn dolls. I am having fun doing both. As I still attend shows I have to make bears. At the moment I am busy with mini bears that are off to Japan with me.

What gives me a push in the bear direction is seeing a fabric that I like, or perhaps an accessory that will work well with a design.

I also work on bears when stressed as I find this helps me focus on something else than myself.

Denise I will check on that. Most prices are quoted by meter slight more than a yard. With the antique lace I sell that per 1/2 meter as some can be very expensive.
I can also accept pay pal which I could not do in the past. Paypal rules for South Africa, money can go out, but cannot come in.

I will willingly swap links, now that I am able to get them added to the site.

Away for a few days in the Cape but back on 6th May 2009.

I have just finished off my new website. It has taken hours and hours, of course with being on the computer, I tended to get distracted by facebook and its many games   bear_rolleyes

All that has to be done is transfer the site back to the old server. My daughter in law did the logo for me and the bear in it, which I wanted to keep a customer fell in love with.

So now it is back to the "real" world.
Trust that everyone is working hard, getting ready for the season changes and keeping well.

here she is, the swap bear that went to live in Canada with Krista. Good to hear that she made the long trip from South Africa to Canada.

Once again a big thank you to Krista for her lovely seal and to Peta for arranging the partners.

My swap arrived today. I have not edited his picture, as this is where he will be residing in the future, on the couch.(His mum can post the studio shoot)

My swap partner was Krista from K Pawz Creations. "Izzy" traveled all the way from Canada to South Africa, and arrived safe and soundly.

He will be proudly shown to others, and like them, I am sure they will be amazed that "Izzy" has been created by hand.

thank you Krista and Peta,  bear_thumb  bear_thumb

I would never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful life, my loving family for less gray hair or a flatter belly. As I've aged, I've become kinder to myself, and less critical of myself. I've become my own friend. I don't chide myself for eating that extra cookie, or for not making
my bed, or for buying that silly cement gecko that I didn't need, but looks so avante garde on my patio. I am entitled to a treat, to be messy, to be extravagant.

I have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.

Whose business is it if I choose to read or play on the computer until 4 AM and sleep until noon? I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 60 &70's, and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love ... I will.

I will walk the beach in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves with abandon if I choose to, despite the pitying glances from the jet set.

They, too, will get old.
I know I am sometimes forgetful...
But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten. And I eventually remember the important things.

Sure, over the years my heart has been broken. How can your heart not break when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers, or even when somebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car?

But broken hearts are what give us strength and understanding and compassion. A heart never broken is pristine and sterile and will never know the joy of being imperfect.

I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turning gray, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face..
So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn silver.

As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You care less about what other people think. I don't question myself anymore.
I've even earned the right to be wrong.

So, to answer your question, I like being old. It has set me free. I like the person I have become. I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be. And I shall eat dessert every single day(if I feel like it).

Mine is some where in the air right now, hope he arrives safe and sound.

Dear Jane,
I did not take a camera, and did not have much time to get to view all the bears. With your amazing pictures, I can take my time and enjoy every bear that was on show.

My very best Jane,

I arrived back home this morning. trying to catch up with mail and trying to unpack.
I had a good day, and yes it seems like the teddy bear visitors were all around, as it seemed busy. All my bears went, hats, brooches and flowers. Some mini bear fabric, and yes I had to sit on my suitcase to close it, as I had bought mohair to bring back home.!!!

Airline said I was 4kg overweight (34kg) hah, she did not know that in the bag over my shoulder I had a few hundred, nuts, bolts and Cotter pins.

After a week-end of backwards and forwards to the maternity home, Lauren, my daughter delivered her 2nd son at SA time 1.35pm.
weight 2.8kg.

Lauren ha to give birth with no help, as an anesthetist was not around. Lauren has been bleeding rather heavily so they are keeping her on a drip and watching her.

I was able to visit this afternoon and here are some pictures.

Blur-pink-bears-Desktop-Resolution.jpgI am having my website re done and need a link from my site to link up to the auction site. I had made these bears just before Christmas and put them onto eBay so that Paul can do all the necessary to my website. If I do not get him to do it now I might be waiting till next Christmas.
I made them using fabric from Sassy materials, dying the pieces myself.

When the photographer asked if she would smile- typical charmer, she oooh and goooed and he said this is the one.

Anyone watching from Mars would peep through my window and look at this crazy woman, sitting behind a screen, grinning from ear to ear, talking to the screen. Sandy normally goes onto Skype so that we can catch up with each other

Out of 800 babies, our 3 month old grand daughter has been chosen to be the Baby face for Nivea.

Her mom Sandy worked for a modeling agency as a graphic designer. They telephoned her and asked her if she wanted to bring Aimée in for a modeling shoot. It was narrowed down to the yop 8 and today she went for the final shoot.

These are the latest picture I have of her taken about 2 days ago

I have mentioned this before but I have a good friend , Fred who went to live in new Zealand many years ago.Fred and his wife Francine were paying a visit to SA and as I had ordered fleece from my supplier in NZ, I asked if they could bring it out to me, but warned them it would be bulky and I understood if they said no.

Yesterday I collected my sheep, as Fred calls the wool parcel.  We sat laughing last night as he told me the story of getting it to SA. He said they looked at this parcel that had arrived the size of their dining room table. Went off to the super market to get special vacuum bags, and re packed the wool into these bags. One packet fitted snugly into the suitcase, but when it got to the other one, they had problems. Fred said he was sitting on the bag, Francine had the vacuum cleaner and was trying to suck out more air. After two hours of struggling, Francine said, the parcel stays. Fred was adamant that it came with them, as he said I would no longer love him, if he did not bring it.!

Well they managed to get the zip closed, and were then off to the airport. They checked this big “balloon bag† in, with the attendant looking at it suspiciously, saying this is very light.

On the flight, a few people started sneezing, and Fred said to Francine, “oh my gosh† the bag has exploded in the hold, and some people are allergic to the wool. Just before landing, they were going through the invoices and notes from both of us, getting ready for questions if stopped by customs. Then they had the problem of destroying the “evidence†, it eventually landed torn up in a sick bag.

Now prepared with the right story for customs,on disembarking Francine was offered a wheel-chair (she had polio as a child leaving her one leg shorter than the other). As it was a good distance to walk, she was only too pleased to take up the offer. With her flying along, Fred running behind, they were whisked through passport control and customs, and had no need to speak to anyone of authority. All the conniving was not put to use.
Needless to say we sat, drinking wine, giggling like school kids with tears in our eyes about this.

The bag has not been opened, it is still in the boot of my car, and Fred has told me to take care as it might just explode when I open it.

Hi Miriam,
You are going to have a feast. I remember my first visit as a visitor to the show and I could not believe what I was seeing. Have a good pair of walking shoes and I know that you will have an enjoyable day.
