I'm just back from a FANTASTIC holiday in Florida, USA and just had to tell all you American artists out there I LOVE your country
I loved it so much I REALLY, REALLY didn't want to leave
I'll post some pics when I get round to downloading them onto my computer but I'm just back from a 16hr journey (including transfers, etc.) so needing to recover a bit for now
I'm absolutely exhausted and think I now need a holiday to recover from this holiday but what a FAB time I had!!! I did the usual Florida parks thing but also did a trip to the Everglades for an airboat ride (fab!) a sightseeing trip to Miami (fantastic!) and also a trip to Florida Keys to swim with dolphins (WOW.......thoroughly recommended!!!).
What a wonderful place America is The weather is great.............we had a couple of days where the temp reached over 100 degrees which was tough going when walking around the parks but it was sooooo nice to feel the sun and know that it wasn't going to disappear the next day. The people are also very nice..............we had the odd one or two not so pleasant people but on the whole American people are very friendly and will go out of their way to help you in any way they can!!!
So guess where I'm heading on Monday.......to the travel agents to book up for next year!!!! I'd love to see more of the USA and want to see if it's possible to do a coach tour around a few states
I LOVED the original post you did featuring this poor little guy............you had me in stitches
You've redeemed yourself fantastically, he looks wonderful. You wouldn't know by looking at him the trauma he's suffered!!!!!
I love your felted face too, I'm going to book myself onto this course when I return from my holiday.........I bet it was really fun to do!!!!
Well done Pauline

HI Gemma,
Glad you could join us here on tt
I've only been making bears for just under a year........I stared around June/July of 2007.
Like Christine my greatest achievement so far has been having my artist profile done in TBCI (current issue). It's such a fantastic feeling opening the pages of a glossy magazine and seeing photos of your bears staring up at you
My favourite bit about bear making is definately the faces, I just love spending hours sculpting their little faces
As for my favourite bear.....that's a toughy!!!! The favourite bear I've made so far has been my avatar bear, Bobby but I really couldn't say who my favourite is I've collected...............they're all my favourites!!
Other hobbies.....I use to make jewellery which I quite enjoyed but I don't really have time for other hobbies between being a single mum, studying for a law degree at university, working part time and making bears (as well as spending too much time on this forum....lol)!! I really love making bears, I find it very relaxing and unwinding sitting at night sewing my bears
OK, that's me.....now it's your turn

I've just been looking at all the wonderful preview bears for the Artist Event on Sunday and decided I'd end up bankrupt if I was there
You're all such very talented artists and for someone who is TERRIBLE at making decisions, all these wonderful bears would just be tooooo tempting and I'd end up buying way more than I could afford
Seriously though........I know I've said it before but good luck to all those attending, I REALLY wish I could be there!! I'm sure it's going to be such a wonderfully successful day for all those involved.
Good luck and above all....................have fun!!!!

PS - Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease take plenty pics for those unfortunate enough not to be there :photo:

I paid the £20 subscription last month so I could see my feature in this months issue but still haven't received it. I've tried emailing too but with no luck. VERY poor service

I really wish I was coming Samantha, hopefully next year (I might even work up the guts to book as a seller!!!).
I'm sure it's going to be a HUGE success, you've done fantastically well organising and promoting it and it's for a really good cause. I hope everything goes well on the day and hopefully we'll get to see some pics of th event posted on the forum

Well done Louise, it's looking fab
I take my hat of to those of you who make your own websites.....I'm afraid I wasn't brave enough and got someone to do it for me (although I do manage to update it myself!!).

Thank you ladies
I think I just feel more let down because we had been emailing each other fairly regularly since she bought the first bear from me so I did regard her as a friend (all be it a cyber friend). I know she definately got the bear ok as she emailed me when she got him to say he had arrived ok and that she was thrilled with him!!
I'm not going to dwell on it too much.....what's done is done, it's not the end of the world. I guess I just wanted to let off a bit of steam and see if I was the only person foolish enough to have had this happen to them!!
So thanks again for listening ladies, I really appreciate it

Hi all,
I've just made a mistake I'll never make again
I had a customer who had bought a couple of bears from me and paid for them ok so when she ordered another bear from me I STUPIDLY trusted her enough to send the bear before I had received payment.............BIG MISTAKE!!! That was now over 2 months ago and needless to say I've not had payment for the bear. I've tried emailing her to ask her to either return the bear or send payment but alas there's been no reply!
Please tell me I'm not the only person stupid enough to have made this kind of mistake!!
It's really disappointing when people you thought you could trust let you down

Janice
Well done Debbie, you did a fantastic job with the repair
He looks wonderful!!!

Thank you for all your advice ladies, it's been really helpful
Dilu, that's a good idea to watch out on ebay as I may be able to pick one up a bit cheaper and try making bears with it to see if using a machine agrees with me before forking out on a new one
Thanks again!!
Hugs
Janice
