I've got some serious shopping, sewing and baking to do (how many days do I have....??? ), but I wanted to be merry and festive with everyone
Just took a quick picture of 2 of my boys with their favorite sweets
Merry Christmas!!

Yes, I found this one when making homemade doggie bones. My one dog has a super sensitive stomach so I was trying to make her something organic and basic. Raisins and grapes are not good at all. In fact onion and garlic can be toxic as well, funny as many gourmet dog treats are "Garlic". But it's mostly in high amounts. If you google canine toxins or food toxic to canines you can find lists of what is ok and not ok for pets. It's also a good idea to have a plan just in case your dog does get any of the toxins and you can't get to a vet.
Just a quick Big doggie fyi: Something I learned about when we got our Shepherd, I never knew about this condition prior to. Larger dogs can get "Bloat" and having a plan in place is a really good idea, because you only have minutes in that kind of emergency.

We have quite a few traditions from church to gifts, but one of my favorites is Christmas morning breakfast at my parents. My dad makes his "famous" super thick belgian style waffles that we top with fresh fruits, syrups and whip cream. We go all out with special order sausages and scrapple ( not my thing personally, but it's big in this area) from a local butcher. It's very homey and casual, but it's probably my favorite tradition.

I have an antique wooden ladder that I use for holding quilts year round. I use it for cards at Christmas. This is a picture from early on during last year's Christmas.

I read cookbooks...funny right? But I can read a cookbook from cover to cover while noting recipes I like....I find it incredibly relaxing. I just got Jessica Seinfeld's Deceptively Delicious, figured with a new little one in the family it couldn't hurt to hide veggies in food

That would be horrid, poor Joey
Hmmm....I think the lead paint, lead jewelry charms, & rape date drug laced bead collections have pushed more parents back to "traditional" toys. I've been swimming in catalogs this holiday season and a good number of them are smaller toy companies with good old fashioned use your imagination traditional quality made toys. It's that childhood interest in a teddy bear "toy" that will keep future collectors of the art interested. Buying a little one a very special teddy bear might be the thing to do this year.
Makes me think of Janet's wonderful thread....imagine all of the children who will pass by her awesome display case this holiday season!!

Janet you ROCK!! What a fabulous & informative display you've created!!  I wish I could see it up close and in person! You've totally inspired me to put on my thinking cap for local displays.

Hey it's there now!! Minutes later and when I click on your ebay link it's there....Looking very lovely I must say
eidted to say: I beleive category #3904 is OOAK Artist bears....all bears, minis, and friends. I'm trying to think back, but I think it's always been that way. (???) But I do agree that it's filling up with some pretty questionable things anymore. Yes, they might be artisan works, but by no means bear or even bear/friends related. The worst are the non artisan pieces that are out there, lots of manufactured things sneaking in.

Hi Bobbie!
When I click on your ebay button it takes me to your seller's page, which is empty currently. Now, I think if you tried to do revisions it can and almost always puts you back into that "8 hour -systems updating" cycle where your listing can not be viewed by the public....especially if you did one or more revisions before your listing was made public. At least that happened to me once before. I waited for 6 hours for my listing to show and while waiting did a revision, for like a typo or something silly. It put me back to waiting another 8 hours for the listing to show...which was 14 hours total of waiting to go public . Live chat says it happens and since your paying for the right to list, not the amount of time listed it's just how it is.
~Chrissi
Yes please check it out! It's just something fun that will benefit a great cause.
Thank you for your enthusiasm so far!!

Wow!! I keep going back to look at it's sweet face too Tracy, I can only imagine what it's like in person. Well done Krista, really so lovely.

Chuckles says GINORMOUS thank yous! Chuckles is blushing in shades of candy cane red over the news that he was voted into the top 5 of the First Annual Softie Thanksgiving Day Parade http://qdpatooties.blogspot.com/. Again he says a GINORMOUS thank you and he would like to spread a little cheer to some very very deserving people on the extra nice list.
Chuckles would love to be yours....when asked what he would do if given a brand new loving home for Christmas he joyfully exclaimed: "First we'll make snow angels for a two hours, then we'll go ice skating, then we'll eat a whole roll of Tollhouse Cookiedough as fast as we can, and then we'll snuggle." (note to self...stop letting sock monkeys watch too many movies!! *giggles*)
So, how can Chuckles the Sock Monkey Elf be yours?? Well, I'm taking $5 USD donations until December 14th 11:59pm. On December 15th Deano will pull a name out of a Christmas stocking (we'll video tape the event and try to post it too!). 100% of the donations will be sent to Alex's Lemonade Stand, in all participants names. http://www.alexslemonade.org/
So, if smiling's your favorite and if you like candy canes with Christmas cheer then why not send me a quick email and I'll let you know how to participate!

Hoping all authorities involved with this tragic and questionable (dare I say hypocritical) situation are pondering the true meaning of the "inciting hatred" quote.
We pray for each other in BearHugs all the time, our collective power of positive thoughts and prayers is so strong. Maybe we could all keep this well intended woman (someone's best friend, sister, cousin, daughter) in our TT prayers. Send her some Bear Prayers!!!

Charlotte your pic made me think of a funky gadget my mom found in an antique shop! She bought it for a couple of bucks and gave it to me about a year ago. I think it would still work, it's complete with needles and instructions. Has such a funny look to it with the foot contraption on it. When it's pressed down it remindeds me of something from edward scissor hands or wonkaville

I did the 4am Kohl's thing last year and vowed to never do it again. It was an "experience" that's for sure!!
Today was my first lazy day in nearly.....well forever! I stayed in PJs, ate leftovers, rented an on demand movie and even took a nap (can't even recall the last time I took a nap). Now I'm browsing ebay and etsy for gift ideas....... and trying to figure out if I'm up to making this over the next few months for my niece's first b-day .....what da yah think?? http://www.ourplayhouse.com/
Tomorrow I venture out to a few local shops......wishing everyone a happy shopping weekend

It's 1:30 in the morning and my kitchen looks like 2 toddlers had a sweet potato fluff fight *LOL*
Hope you all have a wonderful day with family, friends and all the things you're thankful for!
And maybe then a hoppin' shoppin' holiday weekend!
Off to bed for me....must wake at an unGodly hour to fix a turkey (sorry Jive, ignore that bit)

Not to sound nuts, as dogs can get all kinds of simple and painful skin conditions just like us...but in my area and all over the place a serious condition is popping up called MRSA and it's affecting pets as well. If your dog isn't healing ask for a culture to be done. There are cases of pet MRSA where no humans around were affected. It can't hurt to ask for the culture.
On the less dramatic side my mom has a cat that gets raw skin during allergy season and bathing and cover the "wounds" are the only way to let it heal. She puts a clean snug baby tshirt on the cat once a day to stop him from licking and scratching stuff open....looks hysterical, but it works. If it's on your dogs belly you may want to try a baby onesie with a tail hole cut into it. The onesie being snapped up will keep his belly covered and his nails off the affected area.

I love that you have a turkey named Jive He really is a beauty!
