For artists and collectors sponsored by Intercal...your mohair supplier and Johnna's Mohair Store
For sure, these two bears definately had to meet each other! You made it possible and look how happy they are!!!!
Well done, Peter! Thanks for sharing these beatiful photos...
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
You are reading my thoughts, Peta... I always keep her and of course his hubby in my thoughts but each day with no news gets me a little more worried.
Has someone stayed in close touch with her and got some news about Bernie and Christine?
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
Now Kelly, I have to confess this Duck Soup is too cute to be eaten!!!!!
That's a brilliant idea!
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
Well done girls with reporting that problem! and of course, thank you Quy for giving us a faster way to get rid of such intruders faster.
This is really much appreciated that spams cannot live long on this board.
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
Good question...
Looks like this is the wax president on the photo, not the real one... or am I wrong and your did daughter really meet him?????
Beary hugs,
Sophie.

Looks like a great idea.
I will join, for sure. My studio does not look like a teddy bear artist studio, but for sure is messy.
But I think I have a few photos I took just after I tidied the place, so it might do the trick.
Now I have to confess it stays tidy just until I begin a new bear. Then you will find pieces of mohair here, threads there, pattern parts piled up somewhere, ... a little everywhere. Strangely, I never lost anything.
But sometimes I need to search hard to find things because they are well hiden.
All the same, aren't we?
Thanks, Lynette!
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
Here is my lattest bear.
This small bear is only one way jointed and has safety nose, eyes and joint.
His head and paws are in 3-4 mm sparse golden mohair and his body in a Norton batik 15 mm mohair in a range of pale yellow to orange.
He is stuffed with sheep wool and a little kapok in the muzzle.
He wears a cotton French knitted scarf in a mix of pale white, blue, yellow and pink colours.
He will come to my next craft show.
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
Oh my, another little gem! Another great choice of colours!
He looks so precious and huggable!
I am in love...
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
Right, I have to confess this little one caught my eye.
He really is gorgeous. This combination of saphire blue and brown accents is so clever!
No doubt he will be cherished a lot.
Beary hugs,
Sophie.

Well done girls!
I just had a look at the finalist bears but I am in trouble : I cannot decide about what bear or friend to vote for. There are a few ones I really love. I cannot decide whether I vote for the critter I would love to adopt or the one I find the most elaborated.
So many are so beatifully made...
I think I will take a few more days to make my choice!
Night night,
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
Thank you for your fast answer, Eileen!
The leather is a little over 1 mm thick but a little stretchy.
I already have the right needles for leather for handsewing as well as machine sewing.
The fact is I trend to stuff my bears very firmly. So I will probably be wise lining it. I was able to draw my bear pieces in parts of the coat with any seams, as this is a small bear and the first I design from this coat.
Now I have to check whether the lining material I have can work on leather as it is iron heat one... I'd better try it on a tiny piece of leather first!
Right, I just took a very small piece of leather and had a try with some of my Vlieseline (this heat on lining material) and it worked great! It just needs to heat it for about 10 seconds on wool setting of the iron.
So I can use it for my bear!
A chance I have enough of it left but I'd better add it on my "next to buy" list to get sure i have always some available.
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
Well, dear friends, I would appreciate some advice on this one.
I have always wished to have a try at making leather bears.
A friend gave me an old leather jacket (sample of the leather from the jacket on the photo), which colour matches well the mohairt head I want to combine with : right, this first bear will not be full leather bear as he will have mohair head and paws.
Anyway, while browsing someold post concerning real fur bears, lots were talking about better lining real fur before sewing.
After all, leather is just real fur without hairs, so should I line it? If yes, why is it better doing it?
Thanks,
Sophie.
Thanks for your nice comments!
My next market will only be the 23rd of august.
So I have still got plenty of time before it.
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
Tad definately appeals a lot to me!
Beautiful design and lovely face! So just be proud of you!
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
This pink bear is beautiful and I am sure he will be cherished a lot.
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
Sounds like my mojo is back.
I am finding myself again into making a new bear. Currently making a new bear from the re-arranged pattern I used for Macaron a few months ago.
This bear will only have one joint : in the neck. The body is unjointed.
The idea behind it to have a pattern I can use to make cheaper bears because sales are not going well.
In addition, from this Summer I begin to show up here and there in my area at craft markets and will join art&craft local associations too.
We shall see what come out of this new plan!
So far, it is obvious visitors have no money to spend to treat themselves. In my last markket, which was only craft market (the others were combined with garage sale), many people took time to admire my bears and grated me with nice comments, so this was rewarding. But they did not buy them...
Just be patient... well, trying to.
You can find my lattest creation in the showcase. This was just a try. Out of my comfort zone.
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
Would that be a flower?????
Unless it is a bear...
But it has no body...
Hey, it could be a small cushion...
After all, does anyone care???
It is just for deco...
Right, this was a new try with a mini head (about 4,5 cm tall, just the head). I used bright red mini cashemere for the head and suede for the cushion.
The bear head has black glass eyes and acrylic paint shades, and its nose and eyebrows are made with seed beads.
The collar is made with handweaved flower petals with seed beads on metallic thread.
The head is stuffed with kapok while the cushion is stuffer with polyester fibres.
This is a one of a kind creation.
I will take it to my next craft market.
Lots of hugs,
Sophie.
He looks absolutely perfect! What an adorable face! I love everything about this bear.
You have to be patient to make such a bear, hehehehehe!
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
Here is mine :
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
First of all, welcome on board, Lori!
I have to say your black bear is really very appealing to me. I am in love!
He has such a great look!
Well done!
I look forward to see more of your bears when time comes!
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
Medlyn, i just visited your show room and wanted to congrat you for your great work.
Your sow bears are adorable.
I hope they will soon find a loving home!
In what country do you live???
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
I will try to be there, but i do not know when it starts exactly. Plus there is the time lag.
I just hope i can find it opened!!!
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
Oh, Diane, I am very sorry too, that you are struggling so much!
I really hope things will soon get easier for you.
I wish I could be one of your customers, but I too am victim of the crisis and as long as I am still jobless, i must stay realistic and not spend my money to treat myself.
I am sure you will come to a good ways of solving problems. Hopefully, you will eventualy manage to keep making bears at a slower pace.
Beary hugs,
Sophie.

Well done Pauline!
I am glad you get your problem fixed!
Beary hugs,
Sophie.
