DON'T MESS WITH MOM
The Childs Comments and Thoughts
My son came home from school one day,
with a smirk upon his face.
He decided he was smart enough,
to put me in my place.
"Guess what I learned in Civics Two,
that's taught by Mr. Wright?
It's all about the laws today,
The 'Children's Bill of Rights.'
It says I need not clean my room,< BR>don't have to cut my hair
No one can tell me what to think,
or speak, or what to wear.
I have freedom from religion,
and regardless what you say,
I don't have to bow my head,
and I sure don't have to pray.
I can wear earrings if I want,
and pierce my tongue & nose.
I can read & watch just what I like,
get tattoos from head to toe.
And if you ever spank me,
I'll charge you with a crime.
I'll back up all my charges,
with the marks on my behind.
Don't you ever touch me,
my body's only for my use,
not for your hugs and kisses,
that's just more child abuse.
Don't preach about your morals,
like your Mama did to you.
That's nothing more than mind control,
And it's illegal too!
Mom, I have these children's rights,
so you can't influence me,
or I'll call Children's Services Division,
better known as C.S.D."
Mom's Reply and Thoughts
Of course my first instinct was
to toss him out the door.
But the chance to teach him a lesson
made me think a little more.
I mulled it over carefully,
I couldn't let this go.
A smile crept upon my face,
he's messing with a pro.
Next day I took him shopping
at the local Goodwill Store..
I told him, "Pick out all you want,
there's shirts & pants galore.
I've called and checked with C.S.D.
who said they didn't care
if I bought you K-Mart shoes
instead of those [SPAM] Airs.
I've canceled that appointment
to take your driver's test.
The C.S.D. is unconcerned
so I'll decide what's best."
I said "No time to stop and eat,
or pick up stuff to munch.
And tomorrow you can start to learn
to make your own sack lunch.
Just save the raging appetite,
and wait till dinner time.
We're having liver and onions,
a favorite dish of mine."
He asked "Can I please rent a movie,
to watch on my VCR?"
"Sorry, but I sold your TV,
for new tires on my car.
I also rented out your room,
you'll take the couch instead.
The C.S.D. requires
just a roof over your head.
Your clothing won't be trendy now,
I'll choose what we eat.
That allowance that you used to get,
will buy me something neat.
I'm selling off your jet ski,
dirt-bike & roller blades.
Check out the 'Parents Bill of Rights',
It's in effect today!
Hey hot shot, are you crying,
Why are you on your knees?
Are you asking God to help you out,
instead of C.S.D..?"

How cute! Love the question!
I explained it to Rick this way....Nancy, or Judi or Sue Ann or Kimmy or.....made it...that makes it special-they put their love and effort and blood and sweat and tears into this bear, just for me! I have to have it.
It works every time....so far.....but I do try not to press my luck......
Good Luck!

If yes, you do have a wheel, I would hold it against the bears one at a time under the same lighting as you are likely to have at hugglets, and see which looks good with most of them.

Way to go Bobbie! You handled the situation like the pro that you are and it worked.
As for the second bear maker, the one who sent apologies?
Good for him/her!!! It takes a big person to admidt when they are wrong and apologize to whom they offended....
I hope you are feeling some resolution and are able to relax a bit now.
You did what you did for your reputation, but It may remind the editors and there is a reason they hire fact checkers.....
Thanks, what you did will help us all.

Hi Anne Marie,
This subject comes up frequently so
, while we discuss the topic, because it is an important topic.
If you were to put a bear up at B4B ior ebay and it sold for $ 500.00 then you know the buying public will spend that!
BUT
If you pay attention to the overall economy and you see inflation and you see recession starting, and your bear doesn't sell for even the cost of materials, let alone time, then you know something else is happening.
When TT first started I was admonished that I was selling too cheap. So I gently raised my reserve, based on what i honestly felt the golly was worth.
Now they are going for alot more than when I started, but I factor in the improvements, the innovative style that I have with the ballet gollies, and the extra time this all takes, and quess what?
Its a wash- they are going for about the same as when I started.
but they are going.
And in today's market I think thats pretty good. I know a lot of bears and gollies are not selling, so I feel lucky and blessed.
Yes, I would love to sell a gollie for $500 but that day hasn't arrived yet.
So lets see what others have to say.....
Thank you Anne Marie

Sonya, how adorable, what a great wardrobe these pups have, I love the Chinese brocade.....very chic.....
dilu
PS Try Sassys bears and fabrics, she has wonderful craft velour and buck suede....its all I use for my gollies now.....

She is a memebr of TT and such a great gal.....

For a 6 inch or less gollie I think either would be grand. The bigger thegolly the longer the mohair is my watch word....It also depends on firs or boys....sometimes on the little girls you want to curl a little or add ribbons etc.
I also needlefelt black rovings onto the head, and curls as I go.
Another option is black yarn unraveled and needlefeltd onto the head.....
the mohair I sew on as an intregal part of the head piece, and the shape of the side pieces and back piece determine the shape of the head
Here's a secret about gollies, as long as they don't have a mouth they can't complain. keep that in mind if you start making a lot pf them./
Another secret, when sewing black on black with black h thread it can be difficult for you to see. That's good because no one else can see either, therefore I will frequently zigzag black mohair pieces onto the thead shape prior to seing the thead together and stuffing.
If you have any more questions let me know.

PS, on your hand are you rubbing the tissue around the surgical spot to assist in the return of feeling and also keep down the possibility of adhesions? Thuis really helps, start very slow and very gently.....
I hope you are feeling tip top in no time.....
dilu
For hand sewing using Sassy fabric for bears I like silk thread, doubled , and i like it because the thread can be the exact same color, silk is quite strong, and it disappears into the fur and you don't see it.......
I wish i could find more uphostery fabric colors, I think I placed an order with Intercal, but I forget.....but i want to use it for embelishments on quilts,
In short i advocate as much thread in all different weights and colors as you can afford. For basic sewing try the Atlanta Thread Company on line....maxi lock for 1.99 , instead of JoAnn's sale at 2.99....
OK rayong is nice too but not strong, use it for embelishments.....
