Thanks ladies!  I make sockets for the eyes by cutting into the head.  It's always scary to do and I risk ruining a head. This is a pretty small creation for me so it was more difficult.  Thankfully, everything worked out on this bunny.

Wow, he's great.  Hopefully another collector will fall in love and give him a good home.  You did a marvelous job on him!

Here is my latest creation and my first bunny of the year.  I think I skipped making bunnies last spring.  I have ideas for others, so maybe I will make up for it this year.  Lettie is available on eBay

I DO hope the quality changes.  I think that the quality of Schulte has gone down in the 10 years I've been making bears.   I have some mohair that I bought recently that has about 1/2 the amount of backing threads as older Schulte.  It's total crap.   I hope Steiff brings the quality back to what it used to be!

I haven't read John's books yet.  But, I met him at Expo this past summer.  He is so nice!  I bought the 3 books that were out at the time and had them signed for my mom.  I could tell my mom was a little apprehensive about the books when she saw  the cover.  She is a big time mystery reader and as soon as she started one, she was hooked!  In fact, she called me to tell me how good the book was.  I'm just waiting for my mom to loan them to me.  But, I think my dad is next in line.  I'm sure they will eventually make their way to my house eventually.

Hello,
Quite some time ago I completely remodeled my website.  I now use Joomla.  It's been a long battle learning how to use Joomla, but I'm finally getting the hang of it.  Ever since the switch, I haven't had many links on my site.  Nothing I was using in Front Page was compatible, so I'm starting from scratch.  If you want to swap links with me, please email me privately.  Just send me your banner and web address and I will provide the same for you.  I have a whopping 3 artists on my web links page right now.  It's looking pretty pathetic so I hope to hear from a lot of you!

My kids are both teenagers now.  Joanne, thanks for telling me why they are so difficult.  I never thought that it was just so it would be easier for me when they leave the nest.  I'll remember that the next time I want to strangle them.   bear_tongue

The best part of being a mom for me right now is when my kids do something kind and unselfish, just to be nice, with no reward for themselves.  I just sit back and say, I guess I'm doing something right.  Oh, and I love it when my son grabs my hand when we walk through a parking lot.  He's 13 and I doubt he'll get run over by a car anymore.  I think he just does it because he knows I like it.  And, then there's listening to my daughter play piano.  It's really great to be a mom when she's playing Chopin.  I guess it's worth her mouthiness when she can fill our house with beautiful music.  I sure will miss her piano playing when she leaves.   bear_cry Being a mom is definitely the toughest job  you'll ever love!

I have been thinking about this lost bear!  I do wish I could remember the name of that book!  Anyhow, are you handy with a needle and thread?  I suggested after reading an appropriate book, going shopping for a new teddy.  If you can sew, why not make him a new teddy.  You can find simple patterns at fabric stores and you could let HIM, pick the fabric and help you stuff.  That would be a very special memory for him and while the original teddy would still be missed, a new teddy made by mom would certainly help heal those wounds.

Hello,
I'm sorry to hear your son has lost his teddy.  My son lost his favorite ball cap once.  We left it at a restaurant out of town.  They found it, and mailed it back to us.  We were so lucky because he LOVED that hat.

As for the bear, I do not know who made that one.  But, I do have a suggestion.  I read a children's book about a teddy that was lost and someone else found it.  They fixed and took care of the teddy and loved it.  It would be a good book to read your son.  I cannot for the life of me remember the name of it, but check with your local library.  The librarian may have read something similar or might be able to make a suggestion.  It would be a way for you to tell your son, "Teddys gone, but someone else is loving him now and teddy is keeping that child company."  Then, perhaps you could go on a special shopping trip to find a new teddy.

Good luck and I do hope you will post again and let us know how this all turns out.

Bear hugs to you and your son!

Alison
