What a gorgeous bear?looks super soft and sooo...touchable
Thanks Michelle .
Good to know I'm not alone in feeling that 'empty nest' syndrome for a Teddybear and I can stop worrying about the white coats coming to take me away .
Fabulous bear and I love his cute dungarees
-
gives him room to expand a full tummy after all those breakfasts .
Thanks Pink,I'm glad you like him.
He brought a tear to her eyes but they were happy tears.
I made this little bear from a pattern designed by Megan Wallace of Tinsoldiers as a gift for a friend.
She is a romantic soul so I inserted a musical box with the Dr Zhivago theme and for her love of ballet I placed a silver ballet shoe charm around his neck. I knitted the aqua marine coloured scarf to reflect her birthstone to add to the personalisation .
I found it quite tricky to 'hide' the music box so it couldn't be felt on the outside and to balance the weight so he would stand independently but I got there in the end.
I'm pleased that he was really appreciated as I felt a bit sentimental about letting him go,how mad is that?
Gorgeous bear.He looks like a true friend
Thank you Wee Beary Tails for sharing your technique :-)
I do most of that except the sewing in daylight tip so I'll give that a try.
I guess the secret is the years of practice and there's no quick fix so I'll just keep on trying to improve.
Good Luck with your sales, your bears are all beautifully made and so unique.
Fantastic work.He looks as if he could talk! Those feet are awesome <3 <3<3
I've never seen such perfect nose embroidery,FAB..U...LOUS!
Any tips for a hobbyist who is rubbish at this technique?
I use a chalk wheel pen, either in white or silver. I find it gives accurate marking on both curves and straight lines.
Here's what it looks like.

Gorgeous Teddybear, his colour is like the midnight sky .Good Luck for your show
.
Your beautiful bunny looks sweet as honey
And his little story is very funny
He's sure to find a nice new mummy
Hope everyone's Easter is fun and sunny
Beautiful bear ,shows lots of skill in scissor sculpting that long pile fabric and creating that lovely expression, well done
.
I'm an old fashioned girl myself and my first love is for traditional classic teddybears.Burroughs is gorgeous
Many thanks Michelle.
Yes,this little bear was a long time in the making because I have been sidelined into knitting charity projects.
I found the leather nose easier than embroidery although Linda's pattern from Bensons Bears included very detailed photographs of each stage in the process which was a great help.
Fabulous work,enchanting little bear
.
Thank you very much,Anthony, approval from talented artists like yourself on TT is so encouraging
.
LOL ... I can relate to that Lisa, got several examples of bears which feature how not to do things, such as too big nose, lopsided ear etc. they are inspiration to try to do it better next time .
Thanks for your kind words of encouragement and hopefully I can aspire to the award winning standard of your gorgeous bears .
Thanks very much for the praise,Lisa & Pink, means a lot.
Linda's pattern is great which helps quite a bit however I am always learning with each bear I make.
My nose embroidery is rubbish and I struggle with symmetry so I need loads of practice there. I'll also have to try and become confident enough to have a go at designing a pattern of my own sometime.
Your little bunny is sooo... beautiful and I love her outfit, especially those tiny red shoes -amazing!
Thank you so much everybody for your lovely compliments, really appreciated
.
This is the tenth Teddybear I've made and he is about 8ins/20cms tall.
I think he has a mischievous look like a "wee scamp". The pattern is designed by Linda Benson of "Bears in the Bush" whose work I greatly admire. It gave me the chance to try some advanced techniques for the second time, such as open mouth, leather nose and sculpted paws.
I find Linda's patterns well written with clear diagrams and photos which is so important for a novice like me.It helps to get a reasonable result and that encourages you to continue practicing this lovely craft instead of being disappointed and giving up.
A Big Thank You! to all those generous artists who share their knowledge and expertise and keep this wonderful craft alive
Seriously cute and such great detail in a tiny bear.
many thanks Jenny for your expert advice.
I really appreciate it.
