Well, I ordered one as a gift for a friend who's ill...and I swear, it doesn't look the same as the old one. o.0 It's thinner, a different color, and no claws! It's like a different bear! Don't do it, folks.

^ That must be Ed...
That's adorable!
Hey guys,
Anybody remember the giant bear that I sold to BlackmoonBear a couple of years ago? A few people really admired it, so I thought folks would like to know that I found the same bear here, on sale:

And if you sign up for their email mailing list, you can get $10 off.
I found my original bear on eBay, where I find most of my bears, so I was pretty surprised to find it again last year on PlowAndHearth.com, and now on WindAndWeather.com, which I'd never heard of. Anyway, I thought someone might be in the market for one.
Wow he is fantastic
Alpaca must be super cheap in Peru it would cost at least a couple of hundred quid just in fabric to make a bear that size He must be the ultimate cuddle
He's alpaca, as in actual alpaca skin. lol They have such a lot of them over there, that when the alpacas die from natural causes, they use their skin to make all kinds of stuffed animals, wall hangings, throw rugs, etc. I have a small 15" bear, but he's not the best quality- his "wool" is sort of rough and thin in places. But he has sentimental value.
I'd love to have this huge fellow, but he's just too expensive. I should take the advice that I found on another forum: "Buy fewer, but better."
Anybody know of a good one? I'm leaning toward a pattern so that I would be able to adjust the size. Preferably something with its legs sprawled out, like the Ditz ones, or the ones from Plow and Hearth...Those bears look so relaxed.

It's a 40" alpaca bear!! ;D
What unusual colors! Gorgeous!
Wow, that big fellow is gorgeous!
doh, here you go....two different ones, with different feet....These are two modern ones, but google "antique eduard cramer bears" and you'll find pictures!
These are really gorgeous! The mask-faces give them so much character!
That's great! I'm so glad that your wife finally has her special bear! ;D
Wow! He's so lifelike!
He arrived today, ahead of schedule!
His boots are the later, P.B. ones, and he has regular feet. Oh well. Win some, lose some, I guess. I'm still thrilled to have him!
He's much firmer than I expected, really a sturdy fellow! I've got him standing up on top of my high-boy dresser, and he displays fabulously.
This one looks like the one that I had: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Uneeda-Huggy-Te … 463d601d68
There's another one on ebay too, that looks like the same one, but it doesn't have the tag.
Looks like it was a Uneeda bear. I found this one, which says all of the things that I remember mine saying. It looks different, though, so the company probably made several versions with the same talking mechanism:
Thanks again for the reply and for offering a potential solution. I'll look out for that specific bear and see if it works, although my wife doesn't think it's the one.
I found out more information from her last night:
1. It was a medium sized brown bear, although she can't remember the brand
2. She remembers it saying "that was a good hug", this is the only solid thing she can remember other than the color/size.
3. She is positive she saw it at KMART.Do you think it would be a good idea to reach out to the merchandising team at KMART to see if they know what I'm talking about?
Thanks again! :)
I actually got a bear for Christmas in the late 90s that said "Mmmm-mmm! That was a good hug!" I don't think it was a K-mart brand bear. I'll google for a while and see what I can find.
Oh, the hat definitely makes it cuter!
I bought my first Paddington today! ;D I'd always liked the Gabrielle Designs ones the best, (because they look the most like the original, furry illustrations, and who can resist real mohair?) and today I found one within my modest budget. Red coat, black hat, and according to the seller, only displayed. I didn't ask for pictures of his feet or boots, because I'd rather wait and see when he arrives.
I know at least one other forum member has a Gabrielle Designs Paddington. Has anyone else fallen for him?
The Avanti bear arrived today. He's FANTASTIC! Exactly what I was hoping for! The fake leather on his nose...um...melted during shipping, so the color is rubbing off, but that's fixable. He seems a lot fatter and sturdier than the Classic Teddy.
Well, I branched out a bit. First I bought this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/291509192216?_t … EBIDX%3AIT
Then I bought this:
http://www.problemsolvers.com/labrador-body-pillow.htm
I already have a 30" Avanti Classic teddy bear, like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Large-Teddy-Bea … 58a77dd0a1
but I've always wished that his arms were longer. Plus, I really like the face on the other one, and his shaggier fur. So Classic Teddy will eventually make his way back onto Ebay. As for the Labrador, I've wanted him since last Christmas, but I couldn't justify spending so much; so when I found him for half the price, I was thrilled!
What is your budget?
Not knowing here are some I can think of...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Polar-Bear-Stuf … 4d33abe758
Oooh, those Ditz bears are fantastic! I made the mistake of looking at their website, and now I want one of every animal in the 26-inch size!
It's a ring-legged lemurantula!

When I saw the thumbnail, my first thought was: "Why would someone post a picture of a giant spider and call it cute?!" Lol.
I am sorry to hear about your loss, especially since he was obviously a bear lover too. :(
When you mention a "big" bear, how big is big for you: 20", 30" or more?
I think about 30" would be the best size, but I'd be okay with something a little bigger. I wouldn't describe my uncle as a bear lover, exactly. He just liked seeing me get excited about them.
Preferably realistic, but open to all suggestions. I've been having a hard time lately, dealing with grief, and I need something really big to hug. I lost my uncle- the one who bought me all the bears! :'( He was my main emotional support, and I'm feeling pretty lost. Time for bear therapy. Who are your favorite snugglers (preferably ones that can be found on eBay)?
By the way: where are all of the smilies?
If I were in a situation like yours, I would take Dubbi apart and make a replica. Then sew Dubbi back together, and voila.
