Brenda,
Could you forward the email to me. I want to send it to some friends. nancy@dogpatchcritters.com
Thanks!
This is the only photo I have of Mocha-my ex got all the others. This pic was for my 1996 Christmas card.
As always beautiful! Such a great photo too! Not only is black difficult to sew it is more difficult to photograph. I am never happy with my photos of black creations.
I agree that you got the pattern right. The little dogs I make tend not to be realistic like Krista's but more caricature like. I mostly jumped in to tell you I use to have a 3/4 Lab 1/4 Chesapeake named Mocha. So I really like your name choice!
First thing this morning, I checked out the parade. Really cute chicks! I can't wait for more of the parade.
I see several referances to heat setting. I'm getting ready to use the blow dryer on a little bit of shading with a prisma marker. How long does it take to heat set?
Great sense! Thanks!
Thanks Patty. This cat is the one that is going to be able to wear Blythe dresses.
I checked the library first but didn't see any answer to my question. I have only used the small glass beads as weight in a couple of critters. I sewed them into a little muslin bag first. Now I want to add weight to the feet of a very small cat. The legs are long & skinny. Is it ok to put some glass beads in the feet without enclosing them(the beads) in something? Since the beads are so small do I need to worry about them working their way through the mohair? I have the "smaller than 1mm glass pellets" from CRs.
Thanks everyone! She was fun to make! I wish I had the time to do more work for rescue groups.
I was asked by the Chihuahua Club of Maryland to make a mohair Chihuahua for their auction to raise money for rescue. She is made with Hembold 420S, has hand painted eyes and a needle felted nose. Angelina is 8" tall from her toes to the tip of her ears.
I've taken to needle felting most noses as I was never happy with my satin stitching. Mine aren't nearly as nice looking as Judi's. I start with a loosely felted ball, tack it with a stitch after trimming the mohair then start poking.
Pics of icicles are beautiful but I'm glad I don't have the real thing. This pic is hubby's garden in the backyard. Strawberries are in! Also califlower & cabbage.
Wonderful colors. She does look like she is ready for Spring.
Yes, that's Millicent the Innocent! That's Lysbet and her dog Bitsy in the upper right corner.
The Tampa, FL show is Feb 24. I am almost ready.
What a great addition to your family! What do your other girls think of her?
Wunerful, wunerful, wunerful!!!! It really is a very eyecatching cover.
I use doll clothes patterns as a guide and then redraw to adjust for bear dimensions. I have used the copier mode on my printer to reduce or enlarge for a particular bear. I sometimes use Dolls' Clothes Pattern Book by Roselyn Gadia-Smitley which I got for a couple of dollars on ebay.
My friend had the same thing happen. They wanted $500 to get her domain name back! When she didn't pay it became a [INVALID] site.
I always associated the smell with taco shells-I guess corn chips fit the bill. I think it might have to do with their skin oils. It was much stronger on my lab and they have more oils to make their coats water resistant. I worked for a vet for 15 yrs -to me the allergy smell is different and is usually caused by the dog licking their fur. Their saliva will also turn light color dogs a kinda pink color.
I have several artists blog links on my blog already. I'm always ready to add more. Some days I just go down the links just to see what everybody is up to.

Thank goodness for the alarm! I think I'll go get one TODAY!
He is the perfect reindeer. My girls decided to be elves this year. Lexi is the one in my avatar and this is Lucy.
For me the biggest challenge is to get a more realistic look. My bears are OK, their looks vary, can't seem to get a BIGGER foot though! Would like them a little fatter. But I make a lot of dogs and they all come out looking like a cartoon character. Their cute, everyone that orders one just loves them, but I would like them to look a bit more "real". I make small dogs and bears. average size is around 6" tall.
That's EXACTLY my problem. I make a lot of little dogs too and no matter what I do they come out "cute" and not realistic. This has been my problem since high school. I took an art course where we learning the lost wax process. One of my classmates went on to become a well known artist in the medium doing beautiful nude sculptures. Me -I made funny looking little dogs.
The double jointed neck is also something I would like to master. I tried it once-disaster! I haven't gotten the hang of an open mouth either.
