Hi Laura, Monterey Mills makes an outstanding faux fox fur.  I use it for my Shelties (#17 is on ebay now).  It is not quite 4", more like 3 1/2 "

CR's Crafts carries it.
Keep up the beautifull work

Hi,  I should have checked my facts before posting!!!!!

My chiropractor uses this.......(He is not Dr. Thompson,  but he does use the table and his techniques.)

"Dr. Thompson developed a mechanical drop mechanism for the adjusting
table, which reduces spinal adjusting force and reduces patient sensitivity and
pain  during the spinal adjustment. He has developed a specific technique to be
used in conjunction with his Thompson table. It may be considered a non-force
                                  technique by some doctors."

I hope this clarifies any questions.
I have learned my lesson.....do not post unless you are sure of your facts!

Has any one heard of the Palmer Method Chiropractic's?  They do not "twist" when they make the adjustments!  They lay you on a special table that has multiple sections that "give way" while they push on you!  It is much more complicated than that, but the thing I like so much about it is not being twisted.
It is also so much easier to relax for it.
I have been going to mine for quite a few years now, and have always had great results!

Hi, Here is a picture of my pride and joy........

Hi,  I am a Sheltie owner, and all I do is Shelties (buy or or create) I also have had requests for other breeds.
I wont do them, because I do not feel that I could "capture" them as well. .  I have lived with Shelties for over 25 years, and having them around as models 24/7 is the reason my plush Shelties are so good.  (I can't believe I just said that!!!  I still find it sooooo amazing that my hands create them.  It just blows me away!!!)

I do agree that "rescue" pups, dogs, or mutts should do very well.

I will keep an eye out for them!

Hi everyone,  I know I have been very, very, bad!  It has been too long since I have visited, and I still have yet to post a new member hello to everyone.  I start to write about myself, and it is either a novel or a sentence.  (It took me weeks to do my ebay About Me page)  Anyway, enuf about that....

I am trying out some new thread.  It matches my fur so closely that I cant see the stiches on my test strips good enuf to check the tension.  I was thinking that I could put some stabilizer sheets on top and bottom of the material.  But will I get an accurate stitch that way?

Linda

Oh, I just thought of another possibility!  Use a different color of the same kind of thread just to check, then rethread the machine with the matching thread?

bear_original bear_original  I think I may have answered my own post!!!

Well, I needed to visit anyway!!!
and would still love to hear any other ways to see the stiches in fur.

Wow!  How am I supposed to stay humble with all of these compliments from all of you? Thank-you, it means so much coming from this "community".

Your welcome, to all who thanked me for the "hand-out".  I am thrilled to be able to share with you.

I am so new here, I must find more time to explore, and get to know everyone.

Thanks for all the lovely compliments!!  "Danelle" is my 14th Sheltie,  I made my first one in July of 2004.  Each one has been a learning expereince.  (I learned so much from everybody here at Teddytalk)

A great big Thnak-you!!!!!!

ttt2.jpgttt3.jpgttt5.jpgttt6.jpgttt1.jpgtt4.jpgHI,  Here is "Danelle", she  is my 14th Sheltie, and she is my first "double-jointed" neck!  It was always taking me forever to decide which postition to place the head in.......then I read about the "double-jointed" neck (right here in TeddyTalk)
I am thrilled with it , and so is her new mom.

Sorry, for this late editing, but I thought I should tell you what "Danelle" is made with.

Crafted with a combination of hand & machine stitching,
She was made with  synthetic double coated faux fur (3” length and very dense),
has premium quality glass eyes,
handcrafted leather lower eyelids,
handcrafted polymer clay nose,
and handcrafted polymer clay paw pads.
The “double-jointed” neck is done with lock-nuts, set screws and
hardwood disc’s.
The head, face, legs and paws are needle and scissor sculpted.
The classic coloring is created with a type of permanent “ink” that doesn’t rub
or brush off, and dries soft with out the shine of inks I have used in the past.

I made up some instructions on the "double-jointed" neck to give to new owners,  I posted them in the tips forum.  "Danelle's" mom wrote to me and said it was real easy getting the hang of it.
Thanks to all,

Linda

lbsl0

oops!  I posted the first page twice,  I will try the second page again.page_2_neck.jpg

lbsl0

Hi,  I wanted to share the instructions for the "double-jointed" neck, that I came up with.   At first I sent only the first page, but then I added the second page.   "Danelle" was sold on ebay, and the new mom has written me just about everyday since she arrived.  She is so thrilled with her.  She said the second page was "perfect"
She was able to figure it out within minutes of her arrival.  pg1.jpgpg2.jpg

If any body out there wants to use any part of these instructions,  great!!  I hate to think of new owners getting frustrated trying to get the hang of it!

I will post pic's of "Danelle" in the Showcase forum.

Linda

lbsl0

Hi, will you enlighten me to other ways?  I do not think that I will be trying the "spendy" swivels.
Thanks for everyones input!
Linda

lbsl0

Hi Everybody,  Has anyone ever used the "swivel neck" joint like these?

http://www.edinburghimports.com/shoppin … 38=0120017  and

http://www.christiebears.co.uk/acatalog … oints.html.

How do they work??

I am thinking about trying it out in conjunction with the "double neck joint".
Thanks
Linda

lbsl0

Hello, everybody,  I apologize for the confusion with my "diagram", but, my question has been answered and then some!!! To all who answered, whether they understood the question or not, a great big Thanks!!!
Kelly,
my first "double-jointed neck" ended up like you describe,  the seam allowance doing both, above the disc and beside it.  Since my Shelties have 3" long fur this does not show at all, but I still wanted to know what every one eles was doing with it.  I think on my next one I will try the "no seam allowance" for the cap like Ellen describes.
Thanks Ellen

Even though I am quite knew to this (or any other) forum,
I know what comes next......

"Pictures, pictures, pictrures, where are the pictures of your Sheltie????"

Which forum should I post them in?,  It is up for auction on Ebay.

Thanks again,
Linda

lbsl0

seam-allowance.jpgHi everyone,  jWhat do you do with the seam allowance at the "cap".  (I have illustrated the question as best I could.)

lbsl0

Hi, what about people that have you listed in their "favorite" sellers?  Are they somehow notified of the change?
Linda

lbsl0

Everyone,  Thanks so much for all the lovely compliments!!   I am a definite newcomer to Teddy talk,  I still need to make an avatar and complete a profile for myself.

Haley, The name is Linda,   I am thrilled to have inspired you!

Tami,  The fur comes from CR's Crafts,  it's the Fox fur. here is the web address

http://www.crscraft.com/products/produc … chOffset=x

Let me how you like it and how it works for you!

Daphne,  Thanks for your help!  Thanks for making me feel so welcome.

Sue Ann,  At this point in time, all I do is Shelties.  I have two beautiful models
Boogie and Sadie, to work from!   I am working on my 14th right now.  I am trying out  the "double jointed neck".   Maybe some day, way off in the future, I might try other breeds.

Everyone,   Thanks again,  I am gonna like this Teddy talk alot!!!

11.jpgIMG_0071a.jpgIMG_0172a.jpgHi,  I  have only worked with synthetics since I have never been able to find any mohair that would work for my Plush Shelties.   Always get samples before you purchase!  There really is a large range of quality out there.

lbsl0

10.jpgOk,  here goes....10.jpg
This is the 10th one, now lives in Mariposa, Ca.

Hi Shari,
Yes, I remember you!!  You are one of the first people that I asked for advice, Glad to see you are still at it!

Daphne,  Where do I start to learn how to post pictures?  My only experience is through ebay.
The last Sheltie I listed is still there. item #150016393344.  His new name is Robbie, he is the 12th one I have made. I have not decided yet if this next one (with the "double jointed neck")  should be labeled as #14 or if I should start the numbering over with #1 since it will be the first one with the neck.

Linda (lbsl0)

lbsl0

Wow, that was quick!   I wish I sold my Sheltie's in person , face to face.   So far, I am an Ebay'er.   How I wish I could see the look on their faces when they open that box and see them for real!

Any way,  I am very thankful for what I have and what I get!  ( I also like to share)

Thanx again for your time
Linda (lbsl0)

Hi, I am working on my first "double jointed neck".  Thanks to all of your wonderfull help, it is going quite well!
It took quite a few different ways of explaining.  Now my question is,  "What about the person who wants to buy them?"  Do you send information telling/showing the many possible positions, and how to get them into these positions?
Thanks for time,
Linda (lbsl0)
