are you out in the "never never" or do you have towns nearby?

Christine, we do have a small village about 5 minutes away where we get our mail and they have a small convenience store for milk, etc. and a pizza place (that makes great pizza!) and a liquor store. We are half way between two towns - about 15 min either way - of about 3,500 people. Our closest city for major shopping is about 1 1/4 hours, and Alberta's largest city is just 2 hours away (not that we go there any more than we can help!). Just across the river from us and a wee bit west is a community of about 12 country residential acreages so we do have neighbours closeby. For someone who has always lived in the city though this is pretty much the boonies! It's taken a while (we've been here almost 5 years!) but I am slowly adjusting - just love the summers here!

I just noticed it too, Kim, and I think it is fantastic! I had actually fogotten that I still had two unsold bears listed - now I'm glad they didn't sell as they look good on there and I have NOTHING ready to list for some time - unless I think someone might want to buy the anime golly I just finished for the challenge - but I have to think of a name for her before I could list her!  bear_rolleyes

What a fabulous cheerful picture, Jodi! I can't believe how bright the colors are and clear the photo is! Great job!

Golly-sized3.JPGGolly-sized1.JPGI just finished my anime golly today and have done some photos. She doesn't have a name yet - will have to start thinking of some golly type names here. She is a miniature, 3 1/2" tall, with black mohair/alpaca blend hair and red silk bows, red leather shoes, and a crocheted dress.

Now I know why I don't make gollies - I can't see to stitch that black fabric, and they have to be dressed! I'll have to try a brown or purple or white golly next time and do incorporated clothing! Anyway it was fun, but I think I'll get back to bears for now!

Gladys, your little ice cream anime golly is darling!

TT-shirt-falls-house-sized.JPGYes, it is a gorgeous part of the country - we are just in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies so those are the Rocky Mountains you see in the background. And yes, Dilu that is our house, and I am drinking a tequilla cooler (in the previously posted photo of floating cocktail hour - by the way, I am not drinking alone as my husband joined me as soon as he finished taking the photo! *grin*).

Chrissi, that is not actually such a "little" bridge - it is a train bridge - yes we have trains too - that close! But we actually love them and they don't keep us awake at night - other than the odd sadistic engineer who decides to lay on his whistle at 3:00 A.M.!

Terrie, the river runs right through our property and is one of the best trout streams around here so usually lots of fishermen around - but I've yet to eat any fish from it! Being this close to the water makes it a lot cooler on really hot days - plus you can always jump in to cool off as there are lots of shallow places for swimming where the current is less and no danger of getting swept over the falls!

I am posting another photo that didn't turn out as clear but maybe puts it all in a bit better perspective - the little black and white dot in the middle is me in my TT shirt! LOL!

Tt-shirt-floating-sized.JPGTT-shirt-me-house-3sized.JPGTTshirt-fallshouse-2-sized.JPGI got my TT t-shirt yesterday and got some photos taken. I ordered the large but I should have gotten the medium - I even shrunk it before I did the photos but it is still really big. Course I'd rather have it big than too small - hate tight things! Love the quality of the shirt!

It's great as a swim cover up - as you'll see in the last photo of our floating cocktail hour on the river! Took all the photos right around our place showing the river, the falls just downstream, and our house.

P.S. Fabulous flower pictures!

That is just hilarious, Chrissi (the squirrels I mean, not the storm - that is no fun). Loved your squirrel story too, Renae!

That is great Tammy! I am so glad that TT and all the fabulous people here are in my dash as well! Sounds like a good idea to concentrate a little time and thought into what we really want to put into our "dash" - I sure like that idea!

I can't see the whole shelf! It's cut off with just a white foot showing after the bunny on the top shelf and after your bear on wheels on the bottom shelf.

Have a wonderful trip, Charlotte! I have a lot of fond memories of train trips - if your not in too big a hurry I think it is my favorite way to travel!

I've done crafts of one sort or another all my life - actually made my first bear at age 13 and won first prize for him in the local fair! - and have collected dolls and bears for about 30 years. I started making dolls - porcelain and cloth - back then too and made my first little bear when my daughter wanted to buy one at a doll show - told her I could make her one. That's when the light bulb went off - dolls have to be dressed and bears don't! With a bunch of naked dolls still laying around that I just never seemed to get around to making clothes for, I switched to making teddy bears!  20 years later I still love it!

Hope that you are feeling better soon, Kim, and that the doctors can solve the problem so that you can get on with starting a family.

Sending you lots of good wishes, Shari, and I hope you get the job!

Thanks, Celena, Terrie, Gladys, Tracy, JeannieB, and Matilda for your lovely comments.

Yes, Celena, the little bear is attached by a couple of stitches to the girl bear's paw.
Gladys, your two little bear sets are darling!

Girlonswingsized2.JPGGirlsonswingsized1.JPGThis is a miniature set I made several years ago and finally decided to sell to a collector today. The little girl is 3 1/4" tall, made from a long pile rayon fabric in a peachy gold color, with a hand crocheted dress. Her little teddy is 1 1/4" tall made from brown velour. She sits on a little swing in a frame with a heart shaped base.

Felix-sized.JPGFelix is a tiny little bear, just 2 1/4" tall, made from blue vintage long pile fabric.

Diane, I am sorry to hear that you are leaving TT - I have enjoyed your posts and seeing your wonderful bears and will certainly miss that. I echo the others in hoping that you will pop back on occasionally to show us some of your latest creations.
All good wishes to you,
Bear hugs, Edie

Sounds like a fun challenge - I've often thought of making a golly and just never got around to it. Since I love the anime style combining the two should be great. Okay, I'm off to start working on a pattern!

Sounds like a fun challenge, Paula - count me in! End of Sept sounds great.
Also I did like your idea of raising money for animals asia, Diane but perhaps it would be better to keep it separate from the challenge and do something specific later on as Paula suggested.
