Me too Shantell, I think it happens to us all from time to time, especially us newer to the bear making world.
My advice, keep making them beauties, you'll get better and better - honestly!! When I first started out, not long ago, I used to email other artists and ask, how do you.......??? (It wasn't on a forum, I didn't know these wonderful things existed then!! ) They were all very helpful and supportive. Gosh I'm nosey!!
Have you thought about teaming up with another artist as a kind of mentor?? I am great friends with another British artist (much more long standing than me), and although I do find lots of inspiration from mags and the internet, she always helps me if I need it. Just an idea.
I also don't know what I would do without all the WONDERFUL members here, they're all so kind and helpful and so giving with ideas.
I'm so sorry to hear you're feeling like this at the moment, but we're here to help in any way we can - just ask....
Would my bum look big in one though??!! Could be the answer to my prayers!!!
I've learnt something new today too, never knew about these. What a beautiful creature, and how wonderful nature is, thanks so much for sharing!!!
Ooooh Kim, you stunna you!!! I'm dead jealous!! ;)
And Louise, there's a resemblance there I'm sure, well maybe Garnet!!
I don't think I resemble my bears, well not in the face, maybe the body hair!!!
Eileen you crack me up, and Penny, you know YOU DO!!!! Tee! Hee!
Tee! Hee!
Thank you so much for all your ideas, you're all so very kind. :)
I think I'm going to try a few different ideas, the magnets, the glue, the bedding.... ooh I shall have fun!!
I will definitely let you all know
Thank you again xx
Thanks Heather, glue's all I could come up with too It's a tough one, I don't want it to look cheap and tacky and I fear glue will do that. :(
Thanks for your help
I want to make a miniature bear, asleep, lying on a Christmas bauble. I just can't come up with a way of attaching him to the bauble. Any ideas??
Hello and Welcome Ginnie,
I too am not a needle felter, but wanted to say hello and enjoy the forum!! (sorry!! About as much use as a chocolate teapot!!)
Have fun anyway!!
I always 'go for it', I don't like messing about, if it doesn't work, well onto the next...... To be honest though, I'm the same as Jane, they've always sold so they haven't been complete disasters (well there have been 2, but that's a discussion long ago now and we'll scrub quickly around that!! )
I think as you make more bears, your confidence grows. In fact I was just going through some old pictures last night and found some of my first bears...... let me see......
This is the bear I ever sold!! Bless!!!
I was having a look around your websites, and think it's nice to have a picture of YOU, the artist, on them. I don't, am thinking about it though, will have to enrol Judi for some airbrushing, but yeah, thinking about it.......
I think it's funny that people don't look a BIT like the picture in your mind, but it is lovely to put faces to names!!
<-- that's what I look like
Ooooh Shari, I know how you feel. Life's all a bit too much for me at the moment too - in fact last week I had a 'Can't cope, Won't cope' week. It's hard going what with the kids and work, where's the time for us huh!!??
Hang in there
Hi Helena,
Yes Shari's right, I've had some of those eyes before, in my practising days!! Like I'm STILL not!!)Just the job!!
She'll love it Susan, you must be so proud, well done!!!
Tee! Hee!
I had to live through Barney, and especially the Teletubbies 'Eh -oh'!!! Tinkey Winkey, Dipsy, Laa Laa and Po, sad huh!!! Thank goodness the kids are a bit older now....although..........
I don't remember the Snorks, but do know of the Boo-Bahs - Bizarre!!!
I'm soooooo sorry to harp on, but I can't find where I saw this before, but what do you have on your show tables?? And also underneath!!
Bears, obviously, but what else do you take?? Not display items, I mean like bags, business cards etc.......
Sorry to keep on......
I know about the joints and eyes (plastic ones) but am interested to hear about the rest.
Are the plastic joints etc able to be washed too, where as the cotter pin/hardboard ones would disintegrate?
Bless this child, she'll love your bear Jenn.
Hey Judi, cancel that, just looked at your website and found out...........mouth always ahead of my pea brain -
Hugs
Hi Judi,
Just a quickie, where are you doing classes, is it with Nancy?? Sorry if I'm being completely nerdy here, but, well, I am!!! Sorry!! I don't pay enough attention (school report from years ago!!!)
Louise and Garnet, I love your site!!! It's interesting, easy and helpful - what more could we want (well apart from lots of money to spend on it!!!) ;)
Great job!!
Helena makes lovely bears in this fabric too, I've been meaning to order some FOREVER!!
Must get round to that.......
Awww Jane, what a worry for you. He reminds me of my parents Shihtzu, she's 14 and is blind too, she has good days and bad days. Sometimes, we think, well this is it, then the next day she's acting like a teenager, well a bit of an exaggeration but you know........... They recently moved house and she kept bumping into things and falling down the stairs because she couldn't see where she was bless her, she's a bit more used to her 'territory' now!!
Take good care of each other, he's the sweetest!!
Ooooh Catherine, I do envy you, hope you had a super time
Many thanks for the lovely photos of this wonderful area, always reminds me of childhood holidays We were too young to appreciate the scenery then, it was BORING!! Funny how that changes with age.
I took my husband on holiday there three years ago and had a lovely time, he thought it was beautiful - and he's right!!
Did you find many bear shops??
Have fun catching up
