Hello, I have a few pieces of nice quality woven back faux furs I bought as remnants a few years back at a bear show. I have long since lost the tags! Are there any characteristics to look for that would give clues as to the manufacturer?

Berwickbears

You should wind up with some beautiful pelts! I used to raise Silver Fox (breed of rabbit, not an actual fox for those not familiar?)they had fantastic coats and great feed conversion.  Sounds like a neat project. Good luck, and let me know if you wind up with extras to sell!!

Hello everyone, I am looking for advice on cutting side head pieces from curly s mohair. I have worked mostly with curly matted or straight mohair. But, I have some of the curly s to use and I have having a lot of trouble getting the fur direction on side head pieces to match with the curly s style! Any advice will be much appreciated bear_original

Berwickbears

Hello, you can find those things online at Intercal Mohair, Edinburgh Imports and on Etsy. There are probably more but those are the ones I know of. Enjoy bear_original

Berwickbears

Hello all, I have several pieces of real fur (a few cuffs or collars) and a larger piece from a jacket. I believe it is mink but I am not at all sure.  I don't work with real fur so I want to sell it.  Does anyone have suggestions on the best place/way to list it?
I will take pictures and post when the light is better tomorrow if anyone can shed more light on the type of fur! I would also trade for mohair if anyone knows a swap type listing site. Help is much appreciated!

Berwickbears

Oh my gosh!  Talk about personality!!

FANTASTIC eyes!! Love your work.

Thanks so much guys.  It means a lot from such talented artists!  Sorry for the slow answer, had a dog get very sick.  She went in to shock the day after she was spayed and was quite critical for a few days so my mind was elsewhere. Lovely bears from all of you as well.

sherwood2-007---Copy.JPGsherwood2-005---Copy.JPGThis adorable cub is looking for his new home and he's ready for fall, just around the corner here in Maine! Sherwood is a one of a kind Berwick Bears original designed and hand sewn entirely by me, Mindy Ricker, from a fantastic rich brown German Schulte woven back synthetic fur. The pile on this gorgeous fur is 1 1/4", very dense with both undercoat and guard hairs. It is soft, thick and wonderful to the touch. Sherwood is a very woolly cub! It is lots of fun to brush his fur in different ways to give him different looks. He truly is much more adorable than the pictures show, I'm afraid my photography skills need some improvement! Sherwood and I spent lots of time together with all of his wonderfull needlefelted details and delicate shading. He was an absolute joy to create and worth every minute of it. He is wonderful to hold with his soft dense fur and zinc pellets for a nice hefty feel.

Sherwood is fully jointed including a double neck joint for lots of wonderful head tilts, his paws and muzzle are needlefelted wool, shaded and sealed for durability . His arms are wired for lots of posing possibilities (he likes to play peek-a-boo). He has German glass eyes with tiny eye whites and corded lids. Double sewn waxed upholstery thread seams, stainless steel lock nut jointing and poly-fil stuffing with zinc pellets added for a nice cozy heft complete this heirlom quality, one of a kind artist bear. With love and a bit of gentle care he will last many generations just as those great old bears who came before him have.Sherwood comes with a signed and dated photo ID tag (#10005) and is discreetly numbered and initialed (MKR) on the back of his left leg for authentication. His acorn cap and pendant are removable.

Thanks so much for looking and please feel free to email any questions, more pics on my web site!

BEST WISHES AND BEAR HUGS TO YOU FROM BERWICK BEARS!

yellow-ribbon.jpgThank you all so much for your kind compliments about PJ and your prayers for my friend, who unfortunately has to remain unnamed due to his missions,  and all of our troops.  They never leave my thoughts.  Check out adoptaussoldier and anysoldier.com, they are great sites to support the troops.  I love that bear people are such kind and caring people!  Thanks again, it means a lot.

pj-bear3-007---Copy.JPGWelcome!!
PJ is another bear with a purpose.  His adoption fee will be used to send care packages to our soldiers in harms way. Letters and care packages really mean a lot to these guys who stand between us and those who would do us harm. So I have decided that the adoption fees from all of my bears adopted from Memorial Day thru 4th of July will be used to send the care packages.

PJ is named in honor of my long time friend who is a member of an elite unit of the US Airforce called pararescue, also known as PJ's. Pararescue is a small unit dedicated to rescuing hostages any place in the world and retrieving US pilots downed behind enemy lines. There work is mostly classified so they often remain unsung heroes. Sadly they are currently heavily engaged in Afghanistan and many other little known places. The bear PJ's blue eyes and black fur were inspired by the blue eyes and black hair of my loyal PJ friend who quietly does so much for us all. Thanks so much for taking a look at PJ.

What a face!  I just love it.

bearpile-010---Copy.JPGbearpile-005---Copy.JPGbearpile-002---Copy.JPGbearpile-004---Copy-2.JPGWelcome!!
Rakkasan is a bear with a purpose.  He is named in honor of a soldier I adopted through adoptaussoldier.org.  My soldier is a member of an elite and historic  unit called the Rakkasans.  They were originally named by the Japanese during WWII and have played an integral role in the defense of our country through to this day.  Sadly they are currently heavily engaged in Afghanistan.  The Rakkasan motto is "Let Valor Not Fail". I felt that was so appropriate for the difficult times America is in that I just had to name this adorable bear in their honor.
All of the money from his adoption will be used to send care packages to my adopted Rakkasan in Afghanistan.  If any one is interested in supporting a soldier adoptaussoldier.org and anysoldier.com are great sites.  Letters and care packages from a stranger really means a lot to these guys who stand between us and those who would do us harm.  They will not let valor fail and neither will America!  Thanks so much for taking a look at Rakkasan.  His details are below.
He is a one of a kind Berwick Bears original designed and hand sewn completely by me, Mindy Ricker, from a fantastic rich brown German Schulte woven back synthetic fur, I believe it is new old stock. The pile on this gorgeous fur is 1/2",very dense with both undercoat and guard hairs. It is soft, thick and wonderful to the touch. He has a lot of wonderfull needlefelted details and delicate shading. He was an absolute joy to create and he is wonderful to hold. I am sure he will bring joy to you as he has to me if you have room in your home and your heart for him.

Rakkasan is fully jointed, his paws and muzzle are needlefelted wool, sealed for durability . He has German glass eyes with corded lids. Double sewn waxed upholstery thread seams, stainless steel lock nut jointing and poly-fil stuffing with zinc pellets added for a nice cozy heft complete this heirlom quality, one of a kind artist bear. With love and a bit of gentle care he will last many generations just as those great old bears who came before him have. Ollie comes with a signed and dated photo ID tag (#10004), and is discreetly numbered and initialed (MKR) on the back of his left leg for authentication.

As always, Berwick Bears are from a non smoking home. They are intended for the adult collector as they do not meet child safety standards due to small parts and delicate details though they do enjoy a supervised hug!

Ollie is truly unique and delightful. I will pay his travel expenses to US destinatons, insurance and tracking included. Contact me for international shipping costs.

Thanks so much for looking and please feel free to email any questions. Contact me for payment plan options.
Best wishes to you from Berwick Bears
