Here's my latest creation, a mohair jack-o-lantern; appropriately named, Jack.  Jack is available on eBay with a 99 cent, no reserve auction.

Tammy,
I've been meaning to email and check on you!  Did you make it through Earl alright?  I hope so.

Andrea,
I try not to use the names more than once, but when you've been at it for years, it does get difficult.  I try to name all of my pandas Chinese names.  You can google for Chinese names and look up the meaning.  For choosing a panda name, I pay more attention to the meaning than the sound of the name.  For other bears, kitties, etc. I like the website, babynames.com.  I sometimes do an advanced search by meaning if I think that a bear has a certain look to him/her.  This website is great because you can search by gender and meaning and there are names from all different countries.  I have found it a valuable tool.  There are also websites for pet names, Inuit names (for polar bears), etc.

I love the way Tiffany is watching over him.

Tammy,
Do you make the jewelry?  Cute stuff!

He's a real cutie.  A mini schauzer is what he looks like.  Is he purebred?   I wonder how Tiffany is going to feel about sharing.

Love those long skinny arms.  Very cute!

WHAT???  Tyler on Teddy Talk.  Long time no see.  Your panda is great.  Love the beads you used for the necklace.  Hope to catch you here more often.

I like them both but have to say the one with the shorter snout and the bell is my favorite of the two.   bear_thumb

Shannon,
I hope that doctors find out the source of the problem soon.  Please keep us posted on your condition and know that you will be in our prayers.

Thanks ladies!  You know that's the 2nd comment on the ears.  Someone was at the house this weekend and said the bear had great ears!  I don't usually get complements on ears but I guess I held my mouth just right when attaching this pair.  I have plans for 2 more bears from this pattern, but with different fabrics.

I have a black lab.  They are the most loyal and dedicated dogs to their owners.  They will do anything to please you.  Sounds like after years and years of dedication, this man was returning the favor to his beloved dog.  I think this is one of the sweetest things I've heard and I'm going to go give Dolan a big hug now.

Yep Daphne, that's it.  The guy who originally owned the store made them and that is all they are, a big fat needle with the eye cut.  They are the best stuffing tool but you must use them with caution!  Have you ever rammed yours into the palm of your hand?  That's my favorite trick.  : )  If you ever loose yours and want to make some, I can tell you where to get the handles.  It's really hard to find blank handles.

Oh, and I forgot about my big curved needles.  I can't work without those!  So, I have 3 favorites.

OH definitely my stuffing tool, I make them myself and my forceps.  These are really expensive forceps That came out of my sisters surgical kit.  They are not your run of the mill, can buy them anywhere pair.  My sister has got me cheapies but they just don't compare.  She was so nice to give these to me.

Daphne, did your parents buy the tool at Bear Makin's???  Because I make the stuffing tool that they used to sell.  Only, I make a longer version since my bears are bigger.

Alison

Did you mark the bear as adopted?  I hope not.  Always keep your bears  listed until you receive payment.  If you get another inquiry about the bear, sell it!  If by chance you hear from the first person tell them that you did not hear from them and assumed that they changed their mind.  I often get inquiries through Bear Pile that do not pan out.

I hope that this helps!

Thank you ladies.  The last word was that they had a couple of hundred letters but needed more.  Anyone procrastinators out there, write your letters and get them emailed tonight.  I known I've been a pest about this but when you've used a certain stuffing for 10 years, you grow accustomed to it.   I HATE change.

Alison

Cyndee,
Sorry to hear you've been down and out.  Heath problems sure can make you depressed.  Keep your chin up and lean on your bear buddies in times of need.

Big hugs!

I know, I'm annoying everyone but that's what we have to do to Walmart so they will start stocking Morning Glory Stuffing again!  Today is the last day to get letters to  the Morning Glory rep who is meeting with Walmart buyers this week.  My letter is below in blue to give you an idea of where to start.  Please send email your letters to jane.e.smith@carpenter.com.  She will hand deliver them to the buyers at the meeting.  Also, make sure to contact Walmart via phone and through their website to request that they bring back Morning Glory polyfill and cluster stuff!

Hugs,
The ever annoying Alison who must have her stuffin!

Walmart Buyers,

I am writing to you in hopes that you will once again, stock Morning Glory fiberfill products in your stores.

I am a designer of collectible teddy bears and other stuffed animals.  This has been my occupation for the past 10 years.  And, in those 10 years, I have always purchased Morning Glory polyester fiberfill and Morning Glory Cluster Stuff from my local Walmart stores.   That is until Walmart, national wide, discontinued the product.   I have tried other brands of stuffing, including Fairfield, the brand you now stock.  Morning Glory works the best for my creations.  The regular fiberfill, packs firmly in the heads so I can embroider the nose.  The Cluster Stuff is wonderful for stuffing the tummies for a cuddly feel.  Fairfield is to slippery and pops right back out of the stuffing holes.  You cannot get the firmness you need for a collectible teddy bear.  I'm sure that Fairfield has its applications, but I simply cannot use it in my line of work.

I would challenge the buyers for the craft department of Walmart to obtain several different polyester stuffing samples from various companies.  You will note that all polyfill is not created equal.  Some will have longer fibers, others shorter.  Some will feel very slippery and slick due to coatings.  Others will feel quite dry.  In ten years of creating, I have not come across another product that is comparable to Morning Glory.  Morning Glory has always been the most affordable and the best quality polyester fiber fill.  I loved the convenience of buying it from my local Walmart store in the 5 pound box and loved the bags of Cluster Stuff.  Please return Morning Glory products to your store shelves!

Sincerely,
Alison McKee

Katy ~ That's what I should have done, left my last bear unstuffed and took some really pathetic pictures.  Maybe that would get more letters written.  For those of you who want to write a letter, but don't quite know what to say, I have copied my letter below.

I know Melissa already posted this but I'm posting it AGAIN!  Those of us who use and love Morning Glory stuffing want it back on our Walmart shelves.  Yes, we can order it from other places but it nearly doubles the price.  PLEASE, please, please, write a letter to Walmart asking them to stock Morning Glory polyfill and cluster stuff in their stores.  Email the letter to jane.e.smith@carpenter.com.  She will be meeting with the craft buyers of Walmart next week and will hand deliver your letter.  As of today, they only had 100 letters to take.  We need many more than that to get Walmart's attention.  The deadline is 8/22.   I WANT MY MORNING GLORY BACK!!!

Hugs,
Alison
